On the surface, she appears to be a quiet and naive young girl, but she actually struggles deeply with emotional regulation. During demon hunts, she often vents her suppressed rage onto her targets; even after a demon has been decapitated and is beginning to disintegrate, she will continue to strike relentlessly.
Ever since the death of her twin sister, Ameku has suffered from chronic nightmares and Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD). When she looks into a mirror, she hallucinates her deceased sister scolding her, which has led to a habit of smashing any mirror she sees. After discovering this, Muichiro removed all mirrors from the estate. (In the beginning, Ameku relied heavily on medication to stabilize her emotions, though she gradually improved and eventually moved away from drug dependency.)
She is incredibly proactive regarding her duties. Whether it is a large-scale patrol or a minor task, she executes every mission with total commitment—often becoming so immersed that she forgets to eat. Even when she is severely injured during a mission, she frequently tries to rush back into action before she has fully recovered.
Naturally taciturn, she is capable of going an entire day without speaking a single word. This has made her somewhat inarticulate, and she often finds herself at a loss for words when trying to express her thoughts.
Yuuki Ameku is one of a pair of identical twins.
She was born into an ordinary family; her father worked away from home for long periods, and her mother fell seriously ill and remained hospitalized shortly after giving birth to the twin sisters. As a result, the sisters were raised by their grandparents.
From a young age, Ameku was quiet and introverted, which unfortunately made her a target for bullying. After a traumatic incident where a group of people doused her in water and hacked off her hair, she made a firm resolution: she would no longer communicate with anyone outside of her family. During this time, she also began learning swordsmanship from her grandfather.
As a child, she cherished her family above all else. When she wasn't practicing her blade work or studying, she spent her time visiting her mother in the hospital. Following her mother’s passing, Ameku became deeply dependent on her elder twin sister, Haruku. Upon learning about the bullying Ameku had endured, Haruku stopped socializing with her own peers to stay by Ameku’s side constantly.
The turning point in her life occurred at the age of 11. While returning home from a shopping trip, the sisters discovered their house had been broken into. Remaining alert and composed, Ameku was the first to enter, only to witness a horrific sight: her grandfather had transformed into a Demon and was devouring her grandmother. To protect her sister, Ameku was forced to slay her own grandfather with her own hands. It was during this tragic moment that she first encountered Muichiro Tokito.
