Last year @itsmel_k brought home from the library the book "Mini Meadows: Grow a Little Patch of Colorful Flowers Anywhere Around Your Yard" by Mike Lizotte. In that book Lizotte mentioned how you can kill your grass by laying a plastic sheet or tarp and then planting wildflowers. I planted about a month ago and flowers are starting to bloom.
