Pure amusement glittered in her stare. Better than the pain and grief he'd spied a moment before. So he offered her a crooked smile. "I can't sleep without my favorite dagger."

"A comfort to every growing child."

Azriel's lips twitched. He refrained from mentioning that he did indeed sleep with a dagger. Many daggers. Including one under his pillow.

"How was the party?" Her breath curled in front of her mouth, and one of his shadows darted out to dance with it before twirling back to him. Like it heard some silent music" [...]

today everyone woke up with so many emotions 🤭 and honestly, i'm so happy it happened during our wonderful week. for the shadow's favorite, i decided to represent that bonus chapter scene where gwyn and azriel are talking, something restless stirring deep inside him, while even the shadows stop to watch.

this bonus is so important to me because it shows so many layers of both characters that we hadn't seen before, and leaves you with that little "i need more" feeling, you know?

i'm really looking forward to seeing more of their conversations at dawn, more little encounters between the shadows and their favorite, and everything else this story has in store for us. i can't wait to see how it all unfolds... soon! 🤭

Throughout ACOSF, we often see how Ariel's shadows respond to Gwyn. From dancing with her, singing to her, being curious with her, and responding to just the mention of her name. Azriel has such a deep bond with his shadows and they're a huge part of him. I think it's very telling how they interact with Gwyn. I thought It'd be beautiful to showcase art that encapsulates the way they trust her and feel seen by her. It was so amazing to bring this vision to life!!

🩵 Aggie, Katie and I have been holding onto [hope] this beautiful idea come to life for a long while, yet the wait to share with the world was worth it.

🩵 We love the idea of Gwyn being so excited to see Az, that she lunges into his arms, knowing without a shadow of a doubt he'd catch her.

🩵 And Az, touch and love starved from birth, smiles at every encounter with Gwyn, who reminds him he is worthy of being seen and loved as he is.

🩵 Az and Gwyn share a bond like no other. From their traumatic pasts, to experiencing Sangravah as their first encounter, to finding courage to heal, they have walked similar paths, and we can't wait to see what the future has in store for them.

OH MY FUCKING GOD!

I love seeing the difference between the pieces I made of them in previous years and this one. I think I feel closer to their relationship now, and I think I can finally see the real love between them. 🤭
