Permaculture and yoga share common values. They both value longevity, resiliency, and optimal functioning. Where they differ is on the scale that they operate. The word 'Yoga' is derived from the Sanskrit root 'Yuj', meaning 'to join' or 'to yoke' or 'to unite'. The practice of yoga aims to the union of individual and universal, the mind and the body. The person and their inner environment become much like a successful permaculture farm: there is no pollution or work to be done. Every element of the self is feeding another element in such a way that produces enough or surplus energy for the individual.
