Janu Sirsasana is often translated as Head-to-Knee Forward Bend, but the posture has never been simply about reaching the head towards the knee.

Many students approach forward bends with the idea that deeper is better. Yet over time, the posture often teaches a different lesson.

The moment we stop forcing, pulling, or chasing a shape, we begin to notice other things.

The quality of the breath.

The relationship between the hips and the spine.

The unnecessary tension held in the shoulders, jaw, and mind.

In traditional yoga practice, postures are not only exercises for the body. They are opportunities to observe ourselves more carefully.

Sometimes the most meaningful part of a posture is not how far we go, but how much awareness we bring to the journey.

There is something very different about a training that helps you feel genuinely prepared to teach.

Not only inspired for a few weeks afterwards, but actually confident standing in front of real people, understanding what you are teaching and why you are teaching it.

This was something Tabetha spoke about very honestly after training with us.

Before joining, she had already completed another 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training, but still did not feel confident teaching in person. What changed for her was not simply learning more postures, but experiencing yoga in a way that felt more authentic, grounded, and practical.

Through anatomy, Pranayama, traditional practices such as Shatkarma, philosophy, alignment, meditation, and teaching practice from the second day onward, she finally began to feel ready to teach with more confidence and understanding.

Today, many yoga trainings move very quickly and focus heavily on certificates, sequences, or performance. But yoga was traditionally meant to be practiced, observed, experienced, and understood over time.

This is something we continue to value deeply in our trainings.

There is something very honest about balancing postures.

The body immediately reflects what is happening internally.

The moment attention drifts, breathing becomes disturbed, or the mind becomes restless, balance often disappears.

In traditional Hatha Yoga, postures such as Eka Padangusthasana were never practiced only to achieve physical control. They became a way to develop steadiness, concentration, patience, awareness, and a quieter relationship with the mind itself.

Over time, the posture becomes less about “holding the balance” and more about understanding the subtle relationship between breath, attention, tension, grounding, and presence.

This is one of the reasons traditional yoga practice can feel so different from simply exercising the body. 🌿
