This may be an overly personal question, but have you or any of the other editors ever had to deal with people not taking you seriously as an adult? I get so sad that manga sometimes has this "childish" view by some people, when it is an art form I've treasured my whole life. Outside of the internet though it's hard for me to find other adults who read and collect as much as I do, so it's frustrating to try and convince people my age how "mature" and incredible manga can be.
When manga was first introduced into bookstores, the common misconception was that manga was only for kids, but I don’t come across that now.
What I do come across is many people who aren’t open to trying manga. If someone actually reads what I give them, I consider that a gift. It’s very hard to read manga R to L for the first time, and most people don’t have the imagination? stamina? fortitude? joie de vivre? to start or even finish a volume. Don’t take it personally. It’s not a reflection on you.
