Armenelos — Capital City of Numenor
Armenelos, also known as Armenelos the Golden and City of the Kings, was the capital and eventual largest city of Númenor. It was founded in the early Second Age, when the Edain first migrated to the island. It was situated in the east-central part of Númenor in the district of Arandor (the Kingsland), close to the mountain of Meneltarma and Rómenna. Armenelos was the site of the royal palace, the King's house, reportedly built with the help of the Maiar who ministered and taught the Edain before the official founding of Númenor. Its completion, together with the coronation of Elros Tar-Minyatur as first King of Númenor in SA 32, marked the beginning of the Númenórean realm.
Rómenna — Eastern City Port
Rómenna was a great seaport, where many of the realm's greatest shipyards were located. The famed Númenórean mariner Vëantur had a house in Rómenna; his friend Aldarion, the future sea-faring king, visited often and kept his shipsthere, such as Hirilondë. Much of the traffic with the old lands of Middle-earth passed through this port. The Guild of Venturers was based in the city, which grew in importance as the exploration and colonisation of Middle-earth increased.
Andúnië — Western City Port
Andúnië was the home of the Lords of Andúnië descended from Valandil, the well-known and well-respected nobles of Númenor. The port city was where the Númenóreans received their Elven friends from Tol Eressëa bearing gifts of enrichment, in the time before the shadow fell over Númenor. During the time after the King Tar-Ancalimon, Andúnië became a haven of the Elf-friends (also known as The Faithful) who advocated a continued friendship with the Elves and obedience to the Valar. As the mistrust of the Faithful and the Valar grew, the residents of Andúnië would receive the Elves as guests only in secret. With the Shadow falling further upon Númenor and its people, and the creation of a Númenórean empire in Middle-earth, Rómenna became much larger and more important than Andúnie. By the latter-half of the Second Age, many of the Faithful from Andúnië were so mistrusted by the King's Menthat they were forcibly removed from the city, and made to live in Rómenna.
Nindamos — Fishermen Town
Nindamos was considered the chief settlement of the fishermen of Númenor, in the south of the island. Set among the marshes at the mouth of the Siril, Nindamos was the largest of several small villages scattered throughout the Hyarnustar and Hyarrostar regions of Númenor.
Eldalondë — Elvish Meeting Point
Eldalondë, also known as Eldalondë the Green, was a seaport on the western coast of Númenor where the river Nunduinë emptied into the Bay of Eldanna. It was surrounded by the pleasant and fair region of Nísimaldar. In the Second Age, Eldalondë was the primary seaport whereby the Elves arrived from Tol Eressëa, in the west, to meet with the Elf-friends (The Faithful) among the Númenóreans.
