Having been able to get the kiddos excused from school for the day, she took them up to Denver earlier in the day before they headed back to home to spend the rest of the night at Benny and Duke's. While there was an official party planned with all their friends and people like family, tonight was about family. Yet Zeynep had paused once they asked if Carla could join them. On one hand, she couldn't deny them the chance to possibly see the blonde. On the other, though, she wasn't ready to see her again either. Having been keeping things sparse between them for awhile due to her, ahem, dealing with some emotions she'd rather keep locked up in a box and hidden away. When she sent the text asking her that they were celebrating and she was welcomed to come, she debated saying that there was no pressure and that they could always arrange a time for them to be with the other instead. Yet, as she headed over to order another round of hot wings and beer cheese (Leia's request), chicken bacon ranch pizza with a cheese-stuffed pretzel crust (Luke's), and the biggest, most sugary unicorn-inspired ice cream fudge sundae they could make (Meg's), the writer paused at a familiar sight. Her lips pulling into a bigger smile than she initially meant to give. "Hey," she said, giving a wave before moving closer. "You came. I wasn't sure if you had plans tonight or not."

"I've just arrived, actually," Frankie reassured them, her easy smile showing no signs of fading as she settled into the seat nearest her friend. Being around Hero had a tendency to make her feel especially nervous but it seemed she'd be spared that particular brand of fumbling awkwardness― at least for the day. She leaned towards fumbling awkwardness most days, after all, and she wasn't exactly of the mind that it would simply disappear because she was feeling confident for a single day. "Are you enjoying yourself? You're making a bit of a face, like, you're thinking quite a lot about something which I'm very familiar, you know, as a master overthinker," She said, reaching out to tuck some of Hero's hair behind their ear gently. "And we can either talk about that or I'll come up with about seven other things I can ramble my way through, if you'd like. Starting with the fact that you look as lovely as always, perhaps?" Her eyes gleamed as she spoke and Frankie propped her elbow up on the table, leaning her chin onto the heel of her hand as she continued to smile. Her energy felt almost bubbly― not unusual but welcome given how frantic it could feel some days― and she was perfectly content to take advantage of that feeling as long as it was content to stay.

Normally, Hero would've been more than ready to lean into the playfulness between them. The back-and-forth of flirting and giggles and lingering looks. But they held back this time. There was a wave of questions that rushed to them after what happened with Carissa, yet they couldn't ask them in case they ruined another friendship with someone they cared deeply about. "I'm trying to. I guess I'm just not really in the mood," they admitted, leaning into Frankie's touch for that moment. Though, part of Hero hated themself in that moment for doing so. Was it really right of them to have moments like this yet hold strong to the newly realized belief that they should never date again? Could they be leading her on, too? God, how much of a fucking asshole are they? Chuckles softly left their lips before she shook her head. "I don't want to trouble you with my shit. But I would be very happy to hear your rambles." Features softening as they looked at her, they tucked some of Frankie's hair behind her ear as well. Though they tried to ignore the mental scolding they were giving themself for the act. She thought about her fanfic days often. While there were some stories that she updated from time to time, she admittedly wasn't as active now as she was a decade ago. Though, it was hard to continue thinking about that after seeing the look on Carissa's face. It hurt Zeynep realizing that she hurt the other. Was she truly that blind? Or had part of her been choosing to ignore it, not because she didn't care, but because she cared about the other far too much to let her make the mistake of being with her? "I... I-It's not..." A strangled whimper left her lips while she ran her hands through her hair. Trying so hard to stop acting and speaking like a total idiot. She couldn't look at Carissa for a moment as she tried to think of what to say and how to say it. "I would be a moron not to," she finally admitted after a few minutes. "You are beyond incredible. They couldn't believe their eyes at first. How Hero thought they were imagining Giada roaming around the farm, how in spite of the years that have passed, she still looked the same as ever. While the twins were on a hot air balloon ride with friends and Meg was with her own friends at the petting zoo, the writer quietly made their way to their old friend. They couldn't help the flurry of emotions that coursed through them: happiness to see her again, frustration that she left in the first place, confused as to why she left. Hero had tried to be there for Gia and Sage after what happened to Ruby, wanting to return the favour after they were there for them after their husband left. Yet, it had stung when Sage (understandably) iced them out and then Gia left town. With the awkward run-ins with Sage over the past few months, Hero was admittedly nervous that Gia would ice them out as well. "H-Hey," they breathed out, having made their way to her. "Y'know, I thought you were a ghost at first." They tried to place their admittance off as a joke. Was Zeynep in the means to adopt a pet right now? No, technically. Was that going to stop them from checking out the adoption event to see the little critters and love on them for awhile? Absolutely not. With her kids in tow, Leia and Meg checking out the kittens while Luke loved on a senior dog, she wondered among the kennels. Cooing at the animals she saw while she walked, willing herself to have as much strength as possible. Unfortunately, that strength began to disappear the moment she saw a five year old corgi. She couldn't stop herself from gasping, carefully heading over to the sweet little baby and moving her fingers between the kennel bars. "Oh, you are so sweet," she cooed. Part of Zeynep was still wrapping her mind around the whole Welford-Vora Vegas wedding. On one hand, out of all of her friends that would do that, it makes perfect sense that it would be those two. All in all, Frankie was beginning to feel tentatively proud of herself; since her conversation with Thea regarding allowing herself to spend more time with her friends and loved ones and less time throwing herself into work and time alone with her cat she'd done rather well at seeing friends a few times a week. A baby step, she thought, but a baby step was still a step and every effort to go out and see someone was one she enjoyed. It wasn't the only reason she'd found herself at Holy Spirits― supporting Thea had been high on her priority list when she'd decided to go― but the sight of so many familiar faces certainly hadn't hurt where bolstering her confidence was concerned. They couldn't stop thinking about Friday night and Carissa. They thought about her question a lot: "Was this a date?" Aside from their store manager trying to set them up on a blind date months ago, Hero hasn't thought about trying to go on dates in a long time. carissa loved spending time with the people in her life and this event was the perfect time to do it. laying next to zeynep, her hand brushing against the other's, her eyes continued to look back and forth between the showing of ghostbusters and the woman next to her. "thank you for coming with me. i was stoked to see this movie. i never asked, are you a ghostbuster fan?" she felt like it was something she should know about her friend, especially if they were going to continue spending as much time together as they did. which, kind of made her wonder what this was. "speaking of things i should have asked," she cleared her throat and turned her head in the other's direction, "is this...a date?"

Resting her head against Carissa's, one hand next to hers and the other grabbing some popcorn, Zeyno hummed in agreement at her first question. "Ever since I was a kid, yeah. I use to write Ghostbusters fanfics on AO3 all the time." Granted, while there were other franchises that took more space in her heart, she'd be lying if she said that Ghostbusters wasn't top ten for her. Slyly sneaking them beneath her top, her fingertips tracing her skin. "Mm-mm," she hummed, shaking her head at the other's words. She moved closer, hiding her face in the crook of her neck. "You..." Her lips pressed against her skin, kissing her softly, slowly, before moving to the other side. "Are... So... Very... Extremely... Beautiful... Carissa... Cho." From her neck, to her jaw, to her chin, to each cheek, to her forehead, to the tip of her nose, Zeynep left her kisses. Until, finally, her lips found her friend's. Her other hand tucking her chin between her thumb and her forefinger to bring her closer. "And I am more than ready to kiss each and every single part of you that's beautiful. "It's great! I've always loved the sport, and it's probably the one thing I still regularly follow in the sports world," she beamed as she watched the kids sprint by after the ball. The sport provided her with a sense of belonging and structure that she otherwise sought to regularly rebel against at home and within the school environment. There was a freedom that came with excelling at something and working hard towards something for herself. It also connected her to friends in a deeper way that she may not have otherwise allowed herself to experience. Her head coach was masterful at getting Asher to push herself beyond her limits.

"That's awesome! It's so wild to think the twins are practically done with their freshman year!" It was bittersweet, of course. Her Ruby most certainly could have been involved in the musical, no doubt. Asher would happily support their endeavors and attend a show if her schedule allowed. "As for me, not much. Same old, same old, which just means I'm due for some change."

"Yeah? Which teams do you typically follow? I'll admit, I still follow my home country's team. Guess old habits die hard." While she's never been gung-ho about sports of any kind, soccer was the exception. And, okay, ice hockey could be fun. Though the latter was more so of a guilty pleasure for Zeyno that she refused to talk about with anyone. She'd much rather stop watching tentacle hentai for a full year than admit that she kind of liked ice hockey. Her reputation as a "sports person" was nonexistent and she'd like to keep it that way.

"God, it's insane. They're both getting to go to prom as well as some of their friends' dates and I've been a wreck over that," she admitted with a laugh. Though, it felt cruel talking about this. She knew, that had life been kinder, Ruby would've been right alongside the twins. And she knew that the blonde knew that heartbreaking fact as well. "Whenever you're ready for a change, hit me up. “Are they nice?” CJ questioned, not even daring to pronounce the name himself, deciding he’ll only learn it if Hero absolutely required him to. He sat up on his bed, glancing over to double check his door was closed. There was not really much privacy between the roommates but, with how things had been, he didn’t want to risk either Jeanie or Seb overhearing. As they listed all the potential shit the two men could have gotten into, CJ couldn’t help but admit to himself all those ideas sounded cool as hell, and would probably be better well received than the actual idiotic decision they made, his eerie quietness when Hero inadvertently guessed correctly extremely telling. “I mean…the polaroid is blurry as hell, so Iunno if it was Elvis exactly but..uh..yeah.”

"Well, they got tentacles, soooo..." A coy smile grew on their lips. Hoping that the other would remember their love for tentacles so that they wouldn't have to explain their joke to him. However, his quietness on the other line soon left them to become serious. The businessowner sitting up, eyebrows furrowing, and soon about to ask what was wrong. That is, until he beat Hero to the punch. "... Oh." Their dark eyes widened and their mouth was dropped slightly. Frankly, if anyone were to get drunkenly married in Vegas (aside from yours truly, of course), it shouldn't be surprising that it was the two. Yet, they were shocked. "I... Wow. Um... Do I call you CJ Vora now? Or do I call Seb Sebastian Welford? Or is it a hyphenated sitch? Vora-Welford? Welford-Vora? Velford? Wora?
