Behind the scenes of us setting up for our most recent photoshoot! I had to tie my flannel around my waist before we started, and Jack was messing with the camera angle a little bit Photoshoots can be really fun - sometimes they feel tedious (like if we are shooting in super hot or super cold weather, or if one of us is sick, or if it's very early in the morning....) but most of the time, they're exciting to do! It's fun to take pictures and share them with you all, while telling the story of our band & updating you on new things!! Being with this guy really is the best thing ever. Making music, listening to him drum, watching him create things and just live and breathe art is an incredible experience and I love being able to not only watch it happen, but be part of it as well! I never would've imagined Forest Hills becoming what it is now - I never imagined being in a duo, and being romantically together with my bandmate. It was always something I told myself I wouldn't do, because relationships can complicate things, and I always have put music first The music has always come first, and it always will, but I'm very grateful for the many intricate layers of our relationship. I'm also very proud of the fact that we don't mix work and romance together - we are very good about being in a professional mindset when it's time to get something done, but then getting goofy and mellowing out when it's time to relax. It's so difficult to find musicians who have the right chemistry with you, and also find partners who work well together in a relationship; so I really hit the Jackpot (get it? Bc his name is Jack...) by getting both in 1 hooman! Not only do I get to love his personality and who he is, but we also get to work together and make dope things 🔥 best of both worlds! Really can't wait to see how much we continue to grow as a band and also as individuals. This growth lately has been crazy...the fact that we've doubled all our social media followings in less than a month has been crazy!! ☆ I never would've guessed we would be where we are today, if you'd come to me almost two years ago when Forest Hills formed. Very sorry for the recent inactivity on my personal page. Life has been very busy recently, and I've also been very sick (don't worry, I don't have covid). These tshirts are so fun to make! Here's how we paint them: first, I trace our FH logo design on a hard-plastic sheet. Then, I cut out the shape, and we tape it over with duct tape to make it extra hefty and secure. Next, we lay all the shirts flat on a tarp so that the ground doesn't get dirty, and then place the plastic stencil on top of a shirt. After the stencil is rested on the shirt, and making sure it's straight etc, I paint on the shirt! The bit of the shirt where the stencil covers is not painted, creating a "negative" design where the entire shirt is painted except our logo. We think it looks pretty cool - especially since we use a combo of white & blue paint!
