I  AM  MOVING  ON  TO  A  NEW  BLOG  WITH  FULL  FUNCTIONALITY  RATHER  THAN  RELYING  ON  A  SIDEBLOG.  i  would  be  honored  if  you’ll  follow  me  there,  too.

I think what's important to understand for us cis folk - on the most simplest level - is to acknowledge the wrong picture of "what if" scenarios you draw with this kind of challenge. For example "what if this male character would be female". If you simply decide that you want this character to be cis woman rather than cis man. It doesn't work like that in reality. Someone who's designated as male at birth but knows they identify as a woman, that person has - unfortunately - a lot of hardships to go through to become more or less accepted as a woman (by government, family, friends, society,) as well as to feel more or less comfortable with themselves. Unfortunately many people tend to use "but this is fiction" as an argument but to be honest, best case scenario is for current generations and future generations to learn about these realities through fiction and profound research and learning rather than unintentionally hurting someone and remaining oblivious because they aren't confronted with these kind of subjects in their own social environment. If we keep thinking it's okay to swap a gender just because we feel like it for our fictional works, we're erasing what real people have to go through to become who they are.
