Warnings: Fluff, slow-burn, mutual pining, reader gets a little frustrated at first, Nagi being emotionally intelligent in a sleepy way
Pairing: Nagi Seishiro x Reader (Roommates AU)
A/N: You and Nagi have been roommates for a few months now. His laziness drives you absolutely insaneâuntil you realize heâs not lazy around you for no reason.
Living with Nagi Seishiro was like having a pet cat that didnât pay rent and somehow always ate your snacks.
He was lazy.
Always lying around.
Always in the living room.
Always breathing the same air as you.
And it drove you nuts.
Every time you walked into the kitchen in the morning? He was already there, hair messy, hoodie half-zipped, spooning cereal into his mouth like it was the most exhausting task in the world.
Youâd just stare at him. âDonât you have practice or something?â
âCoach canceled it,â heâd lie, eyes not leaving his phone.
(He didnât lie. Practice wasnât for two more hours. But heâd still pretend it was canceledâjust so he could sit there longer with you.)
At first, it was cute. Kinda funny.
But the longer you lived together, the more his âchillâ got under your skin.
You cleaned the apartment? He sat on the couch.
You cooked dinner? He laid across the counter and asked what you were making.
You said you were going out? He blinked and went, âEh? Can I come too?â
You swore you were going insane.
Not because he was annoying.
Because you were starting to like it.
One night, it boiled over.
You had an assignment due and barely got any sleep. Nagi was in his usual spot on the couch, blanket up to his chin, switching between a game and watching you type.
He didnât say a wordâjust sat there, occasionally munching on chips.
You finally snapped.
âDonât you have something to do?! Like train, or sleep in your own bed, or literally anything that doesnât involve being five feet away from me all the time?!â
Nagi blinked slowly.
Then sat up.
Then yawned. ââŚBut if Iâm not near you, itâs boring.â
You paused. âWhat?â
He looked at you like it was obvious. âI donât like being alone. Not anymore. It was boring before I moved in.â
You stared at him. For once, speechless.
âBesides,â he mumbled, curling back up under the blanket, âyou get all red and loud when youâre mad. Itâs cute.â
Your jaw dropped.
âYouâre doing this on purpose?!â
âMmhm.â
ââŚWhy?â
He peeked at you with one sleepy eye. ââCause I like being around you. Duh.â
Your heart thumped louder than your brain wanted it to.
That night, you found yourself lingering in the kitchen longer.
And he smiled into his cereal the next morning when you sat next to him without saying a word.
Bonus Ending:
A week later, he casually drops:
âWanna watch something together later?â
You glance at him. âYou mean like a date?â
He shrugs. âDunno. Depends if you hold my hand or not.â

A/N: This story touches on how trauma sometimes shows itself in ways that hurt the people we loveâeven when we donât mean to. Kaiser reacts out of fear, not malice. The story focuses on working through that.
You had been dating Kaiser long enough to know he was hard to read sometimes.
Sure, to the world he was flashy, arrogant, impossible to ignore. But you knew there were pieces of him that were locked behind barbed wire. Parts he never showed, even to you. You didnât push. You gave him space.
But today, you got too close.
It was a quiet afternoon. Kaiser had just gotten back from practice, muscles aching, hair a little messy, wearing one of your hoodies like he always did when he wanted comfort but wouldnât ask for it.
You were sitting on the couch with him, watching something you werenât really paying attention to. He had his head leaned back, eyes half-lidded from exhaustion. He looked⌠peaceful.
And vulnerable.
So you reached outâgently, slowlyâtrailing your fingers along the side of his neck and toward his jaw.
But the second your hand touched him, he flinched violently. Like a switch flipped.
âWhat the hell are you doing?!â he snapped, sitting up, voice sharp and loud in the small room.
You blinked, stunned. âKaiser⌠I was justââ
âDonât touch me like that.â
Your heart dropped. âLike what?â
âLike Iâm some fragile thing youâre trying to fix,â he growled, standing now, running a hand through his hair in frustration. âI donât need your pity. I donât want it.â
You stood too, trying to stay calm even though his voice stung. âIt wasnât pity. I was being affectionate.â
He laughed, bitter and hollow. âRight. âAffectionate.â You mean like how people touch pets they feel sorry for?â
You flinched this time. âWhy are you doing this?â
âBecause I donât need you looking at me like Iâm broken!â he shouted, eyes glassy now, rage bleeding into something far more fragile. âYou donât know what itâs like to be touched and feel like youâre gonna get hurt. To want closeness and be scared of it at the same time. You donât knowââ
He stopped.
You watched him breatheâshaky, angry, scared.
ââŚI never said you were broken,â you said quietly. âBut I can see that youâve been hurt. And Iâm not gonna pretend that I donât notice just to make you more comfortable. Because I love you. All of you. Even the parts you keep locked up.â
Kaiser looked like he wanted to say something cruel. Push you away again. But his hands were trembling.
He turned away, muttering, âI didnât mean to yell.â
You walked up behind himâslowlyâand wrapped your arms around his back. Gently. Giving him every chance to move away.
He didnât.
Instead, after a long pause, he whispered, âDonât let go.â
A/N: Ness may seem put-together on the field, but when it comes to you, heâs a mess. Heâs obsessive, dramatic, and all-inâbut that passion goes both ways. After a heated argument breaks everything apart, he tries to let you go⌠and fails miserably. He canât eat, canât sleep, canât breathe without youâand eventually, he does what he swore he never would: crawl back, broken and begging, because the thought of losing you hurts more than his pride.
Itâs been four days.
Four days since the argument. Since the door slammed. Since you told him to leaveâand he actually did.
You didnât expect that. Not from Ness, who clung to you like gravity, who needed constant reassurance that you werenât going anywhere. But that night, his words cut too deep, and yours were just as sharp.
You stare at the unread messages on your phone, your chest tight.
And thenâŚ
Bang. Bang. Bang.
A knock at your door. Too loud. Too desperate.
You open itâand there he is.
Alexis Ness. Eyes red, shirt wrinkled, hair a mess. He looks like he hasnât slept. He probably hasnât. His chest is heaving, his breathing erratic, like he ran here even if he didnât.
He doesnât wait.
âI canât do this,â he blurts. âI canâtâY/N, I canât breathe without you.â
You blink, frozen in place.
âI tried,â he says, stepping forward, voice trembling. âI tried to wait. I thought maybe you needed space, or maybe I should respect that you didnât want to see me again butââ He swallows hard. âI love you too much to just disappear.â
You whisper, âNessâŚâ
He breaks.
âI know I messed up. I know I talk too much, cling too much, get too jealous and say things I donât meanââ His voice cracks. âBut the second I walked out that door, it felt like I ripped out a part of me. And Iâm not okay without you.â
Youâve never seen him like this.
He steps closer, eyes wide and glossy. âIf this is really over, if you really donât want me anymore⌠say it. Say it, and Iâll leave.â
Silence. The air between you pulses.
But you donât say it.
You step forward, gently tugging at his shirt and whisper, âYouâre such an idiot.â
Ness exhales like heâs been drowning, and suddenly his arms are around you, desperate and tight.
âI missed you,â he mumbles into your shoulder. âSo much. Please⌠donât let this be the end.â
âItâs not,â you whisper. âJust⌠next time, talk to me before it gets that bad.â
He nods rapidly, still clinging. âAnything. Iâll do anythingâjust donât make me live without you again.â
You let him stay.
That night, he falls asleep holding you tighter than ever, like if he lets go, youâll vanish.

A/N: this is the first fanfic I'm writing ever so I'm sorry if their any mistakes
It was lateâtoo late for Rin to still be outside, but he had no plans of going home. Not when you were walking beside him, your hoodie sleeve brushing his hand every so often, sending static jolts of anxiety and something warmer through his chest.
The two of you had spent the whole afternoon together, something that had become a bit of a habit lately. At first, Rin told himself it was convenientâsame school, same route home. But the truth? He looked for you. Every day.
He liked how you made fun of him without fear. How you didnât get flustered when he glared, and how you always said his name like it meant something.
âYouâre quiet,â you said, nudging his arm lightly.
âIâm always quiet.â
âYeah, but usually youâre âbrooding-quietâ. This is more like⌠âthinking-too-hard-and-trying-not-to-make-eye-contactâ quiet.â
He scoffed, flicking a glance at you. âYouâre imagining things.â
You grinned. âNo, I think youâre imagining things. Like kissing me or something.â
Rin froze mid-step.
You werenât wrong, butâwhy the hell would you say it like that?
His ears turned red instantly. âShut up.â
You laughed, and Rin hated how his heart skipped just from that sound.
âOkay, okay,â you said, stepping in front of him to block his path. âIâll shut up if you answer one question.â
He narrowed his eyes but nodded cautiously.
âDo you wanna kiss me?â
His jaw tightened. Rin looked at you, really looked this time. Your face was lit dimly by the streetlights, your lips slightly parted, expectant but not smug. Not teasing. Just real.
ââŚYeah,â he said, barely above a whisper.
You smiled, soft and genuine. âThen just do it, Itoshi Rin.â
He didnât even think. He just stepped forward, one hand reaching up to touch your cheek with a touch more gentleness than youâd expect from someone who trained like a machine every day. And then, finally, he kissed you.
It was awkward for a half secondâhis nose bumped yours, and he tensed like heâd messed it up. But you tilted your head, steadied him, and kissed him back.
And that⌠that was when everything else faded. The world went quiet, and all that mattered was the way your lips felt, the warmth in his chest, and how your hands curled into his hoodie like youâd been waiting for this too.
When you pulled away just slightly, Rin whispered, âI hate how good that felt.â
