You don't have to be familiar with video games to enjoy watching someone speedrunning! Speedrunning is an unusual way of interacting with video games as a medium, where you complete your own goal (usually completing a game or a section of a game in the shortest amount of time possible) instead of the goal the game sets out. Speed running often involves both technical skill and research. My favorite part is when they deconstruct how the game functions to discover ways of completing the game that the original designers never intended.
