It’s been a while. I know!
About two months ago (woo, time flies) I received my first fic request. @awkward-new-writer asked me for an Endless Summer fic based on the moment on book 1 when MC saves Quinn from the saber tooth and ends up lightly wounded. In the book the wound is never mentioned again but what if it was a little more serious than it looks?
I’m a little rusty and on a bit of a writer’s block but I really hope you like it. Thank you for trusting me with this idea and sorry for how long it took.
When Taylor woke up it took her some time to understand completely what was happening. She's laying down on a confortable place and she can hear distant voices. Before she can open her eyes the voices seem to become clear enough for her to understand what they are talking about.
"You people are insane! Leave her alone and go do whatever you want to do"
"We just wanted to know how she is"
"She will get better. Not thanks to you Captain America"
"This is not fair Jake. We had no idea she was hurt"
"HOW COULD YOU NOT SEE A CUT THAT SIZE?" Taylor can feel the tension between the group growing until a calm voice joins the group.
"Jake is enough. Go inside. We don't want her to wake up alone"
She hears steps and finally opens her eyes finding Jake looking at her.
"Princess, you're awake"
"What happened?" She asks trying to sit and he quickly moves to help her and put some pillows on her back.
"You passed out. The big cat hurt you a little more than we tought. Maybelline said you lost some blood but you should be fine"
"Michelle was here?"
"Oh yeah, Jake can be pretty convincing when he freaks out" says Quinn entering the room and noticing Taylor questioning expression.
"I wasn't freaking out!"
"Ok ok. Can you just go grab some water for Taylor?"
Jake hesitates for a moment and look at Taylor like she's going to run as soon as he leaves the room. She gives him a small nod and it seems to be enough to make him decide to move. As soon as both girls are alone Quinn sits by her side at the bed.
"Quinn, what happened? The last thing I remember is that Jake was really pissed off because of his plane... Oh my God! The plane exploded! He must be devastated"
"I think he completely forgot about it the moment you fainted" Her friend answers with a smile. By seeing Taylor is not understanding her she continues. "He freaked out as soon as you touched the floor. One moment he was having a huge fight with Sean about going out to look for another way to leave the island or staying here and on the next he's trying to wake you and bringing you here while pretty much screaming at everyone"
"Where are we?"
"Jake's room, of course! He went full protection mode around you. Everyone got so scared even Michelle came to check on you." As Taylor prepares to make more questions Jake enters the room with three bottles of water and looking like he clearly ran to get them. Trying to contain a laugh Quinn leaves Taylor's side by the bed.
"Now that our pacient is awake I'll go to the kitchen and get her something to eat. Jake I would ask you to keep an eye on her but I don't think I have to."
As soon as the girl leaves the room the pilot takes her place by the bed.
"How are you feeling princess?"
"I'm ok. I really can't believe I passed out over something so ridiculous as a scratch from a cat"
"Well... it was a really big cat... - He answers her and both of them laugh - The truth is you did a lot. You saved Pippi Longstocking twice and almost died again in an explosion. It took you long enough to shut down"
"I'm sorry for your plane"
"Yeah, is not my best day. But don't worry about it ok? Just worry about getting better" For a moment Jake seems so vulnerable in front of her she don't really know what to do so she decides to tease him.
"Oh Top Gun, you're worried about me. It seems like you do have a heart after all, so cute" Unexpectedly the pilot's face turns a light shade of pink.
"Don't get so smug Princess."
"I heard you screaming with Sean and Grace at the hallway when I woke up"
"Well, they are crazy! After everything we've been trough today they wanted us all to go look for a way out of this island with no time to rest. You were clearly hut and they wanted everyone to risk our lifes again."
"You can admit you care Jake. I won't tell anyone" She tells him with a laugh and he clearly avoid looking at her when he answers.
"Is just that you seem to be the only one around here with a sense of humor. I would never be able to forgive you if you left me here with this crowd"
"So you saved my life and took care of me just because I understand your jokes?"
"Oh no, this is not the only reason"
"Why then?"
"I have to keep you close to make sure Maybelline will stay away. That girl scares me a lot! Guess you're stuck with me for a little more time Princess"
As the sun was setting down he was thinking about the last few days. When everything seemed completely lost they were able to not only find proof that Kate was innocent but also documents that proved that Walsh and the Sterlings were involved in drug transportation. Duffy had made quite a mess after that but they were able to save themselves and make sure Duffy survived to clear Kate's name and pay for his crimes. His sister and her baby were safe and for once justice would be made. With all that Flynn knew he was supposed to be happy, but he wasn't.
This whole situation with Kate coming to an end gave him peace that was undeniable. He was relieved and ready to give his sister all the support he knew she would need, but how could he be happy knowing that with all solved Jesse was going home?
When he met her at Kate's rehearsal dinner he immediately felt attracted to her and couldn't help flirting even though he knew she would be gone soon after the wedding. Flynn was not one for one night stands, he just couldn't avoid the flirting and it seemed harmless since he didn't really thought he had any chance with Jesse. Then Kate went missing, Jesse decided to stay to find her and they ended up spending a lot of time together. Looking back he was not able to point the exact moment he fell for her, he just knew he was now in a place he never thought he would be: completely in love with a girl that was about to leave town.
On their last night together he thought about telling her he loved her, but what was the point of it with her leaving? If it weren't for Kate being alone and pregnant he might have considered going to New York, even though he thought it would be even harder for an ex con in a big city, he would try it. But there was no way he was going to leave his sister alone. Flynn also knew that staying in Birchport was not an option for Jesse. She had told him that night was not goodbye sex, but he knew that in fact it was. Trying to stay positive and focus on the future he decided to start preparing for his next step.
The sun was completely down when Jesse appeared at the docks. As always she looked like a dream and his heart ached thinking it was probably the last time he would see her. Jesse told him she was going to miss him, but she had no idea of how much he would miss her. After they said their goodbyes he watched her leave in pain. In less than a month Jesse had changed his life completely. Before her he was not able to trust people and felt like nobody cared about him but the way she kept by his side, the way she stood up for him made him feel like she saw him. For most people he was just an ex-con, a real bad boy, but Jesse looked at him and saw just a regular guy. She saw who he was and not the one mistake from his past.
Unable to focus on his application for the police he decided to go to the roof for some air. He sat there and started to play the song he wrote for her, the song that he hoped had showed her that he loved her, even though he haven't said it. When the song came to an end he heard a loud noise, like someone was running through the docks. It was late night and he considered that someone might be in danger so he decided to check. As he got to the other end of the boat he saw Jesse running his way. She reached the houseboat completely out of breath.
"Jesse? What are you doing here?"
"I... I don't want to go. And I'm not going to. Not if it means leaving you behind."
Flynn though he might be dreaming, had he slept at the roof without noticing? This couldn't be possible, but here she was, right in front of him telling him she wouldn't leave Birchport. He couldn't hold a smile.
"Are you serious right now?" It was a stupid question but he asked without thinking, he just couldn't believe it was real.
"I've never been more serious about anything. When I got into the cab I just knew. I couldn't throw all this away. The last few weeks have been... beyond wild. It's being scary and awful and violent and terrifying...But ...I wouldn't change a minute of it. Because I met you."
"Jesse..."
"Somewhere along the way, between the break-ins and the evidence stealing...I fell for you, Flynn O'Malley. And I can't imagine a life without you in it. I want to stay here. With you. That is... if you'll have me."
Flynn was in shock. Even in his wildest dreams he could not have possibly imagined this and for a moment his words failed him.
"...Of course I will" Was all he was able to say while he waited for her to climb on board. When she finally entered it he held onto her like she would vanish if he didn't. As they held each other and kissed and told how right this felt in his head he kept repeating he had to let her know how he felt, all of it.
"You know, I meant it when I said you were the best thing that ever happened to me, Jesse. That was true even when I thought you were leaving. I never dared to dream you might stay. It seemed... too good to even imagine."
"Looks like you're going to have to get used to more of your dreams coming true."
Flynn couldn't stop smiling. He wanted to celebrate, to scream, to tell to world how happy he was. Maybe it would be enough to show the ocean and the stars how he felt so he invited her to the roof. Jesse leaned on him looking at the stars and smiling.
"I'm never going to get tired of this view"
"Well, good. Because you're going to be seeing a lot of it." He hugged her tight and after a moment decided to ask.
"So, what're you going to do in Birchport?" He barely managed to hide the fear he felt that by asking it he would made her realize she had made a wrong decision but he knew he had to ask and give her the chance to change her mind, even now.
"Maybe I'll ... Just spend all day in bed with you."
Her answer made him chuckle and all the fear left him, she was not changing her mind after all.
"Is that so?"
"I mean, just realistically, there are still so many positions we have to try..."
"Alright then. I'll take that as a challenge."
"Seriously, though... there's going to be a lot to figure out. I know that. But so long as I'm here... with Kate and her baby... with friends like Grant and Naomi... With you...I know I'll be ok."
He kisses her pouring all his love, all his happiness and his hopes for a future, their future into the kiss. When they break it he looks her in the eyes.
"I love you, Jesse."
"I love you too."
In a quick move he takes her and start carrying her inside, bride style.
"Where are you taking me O'Malley?"
"I believe you said you planned to stay in bed with me all day. Is never too soon to start."
He delicately placed her in bed and laid by her side pulling her to him in a passionate kiss. Slowly he started to remove her clothes, planting kisses in every piece of skin he exposed, like her body was something to be worshiped. Once she was on her underwear she pulled him back to her and started to remove his shirt with care.
"I promise I won't tear another one." she said grinning at him. Flynn finished taking the shirt of.
"You can tear as many as you want." he answered lowering himself to kiss her once more, while she unbuttoned his pants and removed them along with his boxers.
His kisses were trailing down her neck and he could feel her shivering while his hands lightly caressed her tights. Slowly he pushed her panties aside and when his fingers touched her already wet center she stopped him.
"Flynn..."
"Yes"
"I need you now" Jesse moved to lay him on bed and removed the rest of her underwear. As she lowered herself on him they both moaned in pleasure and smiled at each other. Having her body on his felt right, he felt like there was nothing else in the world but them. Jesse moved slowly, bouncing up and down. He placed one hand at the small of her back bringing her closer, but still felt like it wasn't enough, he needed to feel her entire body. Flynn sat so he could hold her even closer, his fingers pressed on her skin, making little marks on it. They held each other like it was the only way to be completely together. Between kisses and moans they moved faster to the edge until they couldn't contain anymore and together they found release.
Exhausted they fell in bed, Flynn with his arm around Jesse while her head rested on his chest. He gently pulled her chin to look into her eyes.
"I'm never going to get tired of this view" he told her making a small joke about her comment of the roof scenario.
"Good for you because you're going to be seeing a lot of it." Jesse answered imitating his answer to her earlier and laughing.
They stayed there in silence and drifted off to sleep.
The next morning Jesse woke up when she sensed him slowly moving away. He got up from bed and stopped to look at her.
"Flynn? Is everything ok?"
"More than ok. I just had to look at you again to make sure I'm not dreaming. I can't believe you're not leaving."
"Not unless you want me to, but even if you do I might try to put up a fight and stay." Her statement made him laugh.
"No need for this, I want you to stay. But why did you? I mean, you have a life back in NY, a job, friends... why leave it all behind?"
"I can have a life here. I can find a new job, I have Kate, Naomi and Grant to cover the friends part and I can always visit my friends in NY. But... this - her hands moved between them pointing to both - what we have, this is something I've never had before and I don't know what the future holds for us, but I know I couldn't leave."
He returned to bed to kiss her and got up again.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm having a shower and then I'll pick us something to eat."
"That seems perfect."
Together they took a long shower and as Flynn started to dress he saw Jesse looking at both sides of the boat with a concerned look.
"Is everything ok?"
"Yes... I mean, I just realized I forgot to pick my suitcases from the taxi yesterday."
"How?"
"Well, once I realized I couldn't leave I had to get here as fast as possible to tell you." She shrugged and both laughed.
"Ok, I believe Miss Harlenay probably called the cab for you right? So she might have the driver's number so we can get your stuff back. I'll call her and see if she can help ok?"
She goes back in the bathroom to fix her hair while he calls the bed-and-breakfast. When Jesse returns to the room to get dressed she sees a very red Flynn finishing the call.
"So, did she had the driver number?"
"Actually she told me that after you left running the guy just took your luggage back thinking it would be easier for you to find it."
"This is great, than we can pick it today."
"Actually, how do you feel about wearing my clothes for a few days? We can also buy you new ones."
"What's wrong? Why don't you want to pick my stuff?"
Flynn sighed and looked away for a moment. His eyes returned to her and he took a deep breath before answering
"Miss Harlenay was thrilled to hear you decided to stay in Birchport and told me she knew exactly how you must have felt. She said she once dated a guy that looked a lot like me and his talents in bed were memorable, like she was sure mine were too, to make you change your mind about going back to NY."
"Oh My God."
"There's more. She said that the guy had a motorcycle and that they used to... you know... on it. I guess I sounded really confused about it because she said when we get there to pick your stuff she'll teach us how to... do it."
Jesse bursted in laughter and Flynn couldn't help but joining.
"Maybe I can ask Kate for some clothes?"
"Something tells me my sister will make all kinds of weird comments once she find out you're staying with me.”
"Probably."
"I guess we won't be able to avoid any of them. Let's go get your stuff and see Kate at once, like removing a Band-Aid. But Jesse, promise me one thing?"
"What?"
"Promise me that after this we'll spend a lot of time as far as possible from Miss Harlenay."
It took me a lot of time to decide if I wanted to talk about Mr. Sinclaire or Prince Hamid and you want to talk about the fucking Duke? Give me a break Grandma!

All the loud noises from the street filled her ears while she realized that everything she had just been through was a dream. This was for sure the craziest and most amazing dream she ever had. It seemed like she spent months of her life living those things, not one night, and she couldn’t stop thinking about all the things that happened. The loud sound of knocking on her door brought her back to reality.
“Rileeeeeeyyy, are u alive? Are you with someone? Please say something or give me a sign, you’re scarring me. “
“I’m alive and alone, you can come in Tam.”
Her roommate opened the door in a dramatic way and sat af the feet of her bed.
“I was really worried about you. I heard you coming back last night but you didn’t said a word so I thought maybe you brought some company home.”
“Tammy, we have been living together for 1 year now, have I ever brought somebody home?”
“No, but you should. I was hopeful about it, this is why I haven’t come here earlier.”
Riley laughed.
“I’m fine by myself Tam… and before you say it, no, I don’t want to meet any of your brother friends, I don’t need a boyfriend, all I need is some rest before work and very good tips tonight.”

Riley was preparing a grilled cheese while Tammy was sat at the kitchen table.
“So, let me see if I got this right. You dreamed a prince from a country you don't know invited you to go with him and marry him?”
“No. I met the prince and one of his friends invited me to back to their country to compete with other ladies to marry the prince.”
“And you became a princess?”
“No.”
“Because the prince picked someone else?”
“Sort of. I had some doubts about it but everyone thought the prince would pick me until the scandal of the photos.”
“Oooohhh right, the photos. So the prince didn't picked you and you ended up falling for his friend?”
“Well, I felt like I was not so sure about marring the prince because I was thinking about his friend and after the photos scandal we got closer and I fell for him.”
“And married the guy. Was this the guy from the photos?”
“No, it was the guy who saved me from the guy of the photos.”
“Riiiight, and you married him?”
“Yes, and became a duchess.”
“Wow, this really is a crazy dream! How was married life?”
“I have no idea, I woke up right after the wedding night.”
Tammy opened space for Riley at the table, noticing her friend was bringing two plates.
“You made one for me too?”
“Yup”
“Oh Ri, you're the best. You know I love your grilled cheese.”
“I do, I do.”
Both the girls started to eat.
“So, uhcowdisgu?”
“What? Please swallow before you say that again. Riley said grinning.”
Tammy made her a sign to wait and swallowed the sandwich.
“I said, do you know this guy you dreamed about? Your husband?”
“No, never seen him before. Neither he nor the rest of the people in the dream.”
“Oh my, you're so going to meet him. I can see it already. You meet him and think that he literally is the man of your dreams and marry him on a beautiful ceremony and I'll be your bridesmaid.”
“Tam, I love your imagination, but this is just a dream. Is not like the guy from my dreams will just show up and things will be perfect, this is not a movie.”
“You have no faith in love, such a waste. Let's make a bet, shall we?”
“If I take the bet, will you stop talking about this?”
“Yup, unless I win of course.”
“Fine, tell me what you want.”
“If the guy shows up, I'll be your bridesmaid at your wedding with him.”
“And if I never find him?”
“I'll wash the dishes alone for two weeks.”
“Done, the easiest bet ever.”
“Don't be so confident about it, this is a pure destiny thing. In fact, my belief in destiny and in love is so strong that I think the guy will show up at the bar tonight.”
“Tonight? And if he doesn’t?”
“Then tomorrow I'll start doing the dishes.”
“Oh, tomorrow is my night off and I'm going to test this new nail polish I got, 'cause I won't be washing the dishes for a loooong time.” Laughing Riley got up from the table.
“Now, I'm going to work and wait for the man of my dreams.”
“I'll meet you there in one hour.”
“At the bar?”
“Yup, is a Friday night, I have nothing to do and I need to make sure you won't cheat.”
“Tam, you are insane.”
“And you love me.”
“You know I do, see you later.”

Riley was two hours though her shift when Tammy arrived at the bar. The girl leaned against the counter and looked at her.
“Have you seen him yet?”
-“No. As you can see the bar is pretty empty for a Friday night.”
Riley waved her arm to make Tammy look at the saloon, there were only two occupied tables.
“Wow, things are kinda dead around here. Oh hi Daniel. - Tammy said to the other waiter coming from the kitchen.”
“Hi Tammy, I'm so glad you're here, this way you can keep Ri some company.”
“No, no, nonono. You're not leaving Daniel.” - Riley told her colleague a bit annoyed
“Please Riii. The bar is empty and I have this really special date planned.” - Daniel asked her batting his eyelashes
Riley sighed with resignation.
“Ok, is not like the bar is full right? But you owe me this one.”
“Thanks Ri.”
“Get out of here before I change my mind.”
As soon as Daniel left Riley went to the kitchen to take some dishes and missed the two guys that entered the bar. The guys sat at a table and as no one was there to take their orders one of them got up and went to the counter to order a drink. Riley was coming back from the kitchen when she saw him and she was so shocked she tripped and dropped the empty glass in her hand on the floor. Not noticing what happened the stranger leaned on the counter.
“Hey, can you please give me a glass of...”
In the moment Riley moved her head up they locked eyes and he lost his words. Both stayed in a really awkward silence that made Tammy laugh.
“Ri, can you please give me a soda”. - Her friend asked, trying to break the weird air between Riley and the stranger.
Both shook their heads, like breaking the spell that was bonding them. Riley gave Tammy her soda and turned back to the man.
“Good night sir, what would you like?”
“My friend there would like a Cosmopolitan and I'm having a glass of…”
“Whiskey” - Riley finished his sentence before she could think what she was doing. The strange guy smiled at her with a quizzical look.
“Actually yes, this is what I'll have.’
“I'll take your orders to the table in a minute.”
“Thanks” - he answered and for a second he seemed to have something else to say, but he gave up and went back to the table.
“WHAT WAS THAAAT?” - Tammy asked her with an excited face
“This guy, he's...”
“The guy from your dream? Oh my Goood, I was right! I'm going to be a bridesmaaaid.”
“Ok Tam, this is a really weird coincidence but it doesn't mean I'm marring the guy, it only means you're not doing the dishes alone for two weeks.”
“He's looking at you and I'm pretty sure is not because of the drinks you're making.”
She looked at the table and realized that he was staring at her. Suddenly his friend followed his eyes and she saw that this guy was also on her dream, she was probably going crazy. The second guy laughed and got up, moving towards the counter, making the guy who ordered follow him. He sat on the stool by Tammy's side.
“Good night ladies. The bar is pretty empty so I hope you don't mind us sitting here.”
“Not at all - Tammy quickly answered, receiving a disapproving look from Riley.”
“Also, my friend couldn't stop looking this way and he wasn't listening to a word of what I was saying, so I had to bring him here. I'm Max by the way.” - He said extending his hand to her.
“Tammy - she shook his hand - and my friend behind the counter is Riley.”
“Nice to meet you Tammy, Riley. - Max turned back to see his friend sitting by his side seeming pretty mad - This grumpy guy is my friend Drake.”
“Remind me why I agreed to go out with you Beaumont.”
“You wanted to have a drink and I was the only person available.”
“Nice to meet you Drake - Tammy quickly said - let me ask you a weird question: do you believe in destiny?”
“I do” - Max answered.
For the next forty minutes Max and Tammy discussed destiny, horoscope and a lot of other things while Drake and Riley remained silent, exchanging shy glances. Her head wouldn't stop spinning thinking about how weird this all was.
“Ri, can you give me one more soda?” Tammy asked.
“We're out of them here, I'll have to get more at the fridge in the kitchen and restock. Be back in a minute.”
“Please tell me you need help, I don't know how much longer I can endure the whole planetary energy talk.” Drake said getting up
“Fine, think you can carry some very heavy soda cans?” Riley answered grinning
“I think I can” He answered with a smile
As they both walked to the empty kitchen Riley decided to tease him.
“So, you don't believe in destiny or horoscope?”
“No. Do you?”
“Well, I always thought it was pure nonsense but...”
“But?”
She turned to look at him and they locked eyes.
“I don't know... have you ever dreamed with something so real that when you wake up reality seems weird? And then something from your dream happens...”
The sound of Tammy and Max laughing at the bar brought their attention back to the task.
“Ok. Here are the sodas we need to take back” Riley said pointing to a fridge.
Drake picked the pack and they returned to the bar in silence. As Riley gave Tammy her soda a weird silence took the group over, until Max finally spoke.
“I guess we should go. We have a busy day tomorrow and as we're the last ones here I'm pretty sure you want to close the bar. It was great meeting you both ladies.”
They all said goodbyes and as both guys left Tammy turned to Riley.
“Please tell me you at least got his number when he helped you at the kitchen.”

“OH MY GOD Riley! You have this super weird dream about getting married to the guy and he shows up at your work and can't stop looking at you and you won't even give destiny a chance here?”

“I do, go - Tammy looks at a hesitant Riley and nods pointing the door - Go, run, I'll start closing things here.”
Without a second thought Riley takes her apron and starts running to the door, hoping she's not too late to find him. As soon as she crosses the door she bumps into someone and feel strong hands holding her.
“Hey, are you ok?”
She looks up and realizes she bumped into Drake. He doesn't take his hands off her arms and she doesn’t move.
“I'm fine... were you coming back?”
Seeming to finally realize he is still holding her he let's go of her arms and she can't help but miss the contact. He looks at the floor and runs both hands through his brown hair as if he's thinking about what to say next.

“I dreamed about you - Riley says and puts a hand over her mouth after speaking and looks at the floor, unable to look at him - You probably think I'm crazy now and maybe it's better if I go back inside...”
She starts moving towards the door but he holds her hand. Riley turns back to face him.

He smiled and took his phone out of his pocket and gave it to her. She saved her number and gave it back.
“So I'll call you and you can tell me where you want to go, ok?”

Smiling he turns to leave and she stays there watching. Drake is a bit distracted by what just happened and it takes him a few seconds to hear the steps behind him. When he turns to look Riley jumps and gives him a quick kiss on the lips. As fast as she came she goes back to the bar, turning in the middle of the way to smile and wave at him.

"That is the point of surprises, you having no idea about it." She answered him with a mischeivous grin in her lips. Zig chuckled. "Fine, fine. I'll leave you to your surprise cause I have one more insane day ahead. Love you babe." "Love you too. Have a nice day!" He gave her a quick kiss and left.
Hours later he arrived home and found an envelope taped at the door of the apartment with his name on it and a letter inside. He opened the door and trew at the sofa while he read it.
