I decided to do something a little different & made this. I'll make others for the other fandoms I'm in, but I thought I should get this out of the way first.

Okay, first things first, when I was comparing them in my mind, I did realise that it won't be completely fair to draw exact parallels, since tai is, now, a king of a HUGE country? with a highly diverse population and ivo is a prior of the church that controls a comparatively small population, considering that 90% of the population is dead. He is basically second in command for a small country.

Secondly, tai also grew up in a very hostile environment where he could trust literally NOBODY. Compared to him, ivo has friends, is surrounded by trusted advisors and is overall in a better place. Ivo was also put in a position of power when he was old enough, and that might have led to a better and somewhat emotionally stable navigation of political scenario. On the other hand, tai GREW up in that environment, he has been seeing that shit since he was a child. His formative years were full of his father berating and trying to kill him. Him being cold and lifeless makes a lot more sense.

Now, on to the comparison, Ivo gave ANSWERS, he COMMUNICATED. He made sure to always reassure lou despite her being a LOT MORE outspoken and straightforward than tiss.

When she catches him suffering from that sedative for the first time, she's very direct in the sense "you need to tell me what's happening right now", he goes "you can resign if this job is not suitable for you anymore", and then IMMEDIATELY follows up with "I did not mean to offend you with my proposal, only to give you a choice, as a token of my profound gratitude for your recent work". You can TELL that he does not truly mean to follow through his threats. He draws boundaries in a very mature way, you can also feel that he's trying to protect lou and does not want her to unnecessarily get into dangerous situations.

Tai on the other hand....when he says "I'll kill vellora and lock you in the dungeon for the rest of your life" you KNOW he means that shit. When he says "your curiosity will cost you your tongue" you KNOW he'll actually follow through, like... brother.... she's your partner, she literally asked you ONE thing 😭. What the fuck are you being so bitchy for??

When lou takes Ivo's blood stained tissue, and he finds out about it, this is his reply "never again, lou. Ask first" "don't be sorry. That's not necessary. You didn't know. You were confused. Perhaps scared." Now THAT'S a man. Drew boundaries, reassured her, understood her perspective, and was calm throughout the interaction.

Tai, again, is ALWAYS sooo threatening towards her, I hate it. You all know that Ice age scene...wait, let me attach it for you. This video literally summarises tiss and tai's relationship for me.

Then ANOTHER instance. You know when that law was passed for psionics? That they won't be allowed to not work and they'll have to do compulsory 3 hours of unpaid work. Lou is OBVIOUSLY pissed and demands answers and even though ivo does not tell her the entire thing, he does say this "if it's so important to you, then you should know that on the voting sheet for all new laws regarding psionics, next to my name in all columns is the word "against". THAT'S IT, that's literally all he had to say and it was ENOUGH. Fuck that actually, it was more than enough. He wasn't obligated to do that, and still, he did. He could just be like tai and say "yeah, fuck this, I'm sending you to the gallows".

I HATED the way tai handled the shadow situation, like YOU FUCKING ARSE, YOU begged HER to come to YOUR land, and then when she's the most alone and sad, you leave her all ALONE, with her very obviously complicated feelings regarding there being a FUCKING SHADOW POSSESSING YOUR SOUL. A word, a sentence, a moment with your lover, just reassuring her of your feelings would've been ENOUGH BUT NO.

Also, tiss is not spared from my wrath, because this girl is ALWAYS talking about how she's so loyal to esshai and how her relationship with tai is a fleeting thing or whatever and then she feels sad when he treats her like that. LIKE GURL, why would he trust you when you have given him literally no reason to do so? They're both fucked and the only reason that she has a better relationship with sha is because sha is the mature one in the partnership. The story is literally going to end in...two months? And TAI AND TISS ARE STILL ACTING AS IF THEY'RE IN A SITUATIONSHIP, FUCK THIS SHIT FR.
