âIsnât it odd how much fatter a book gets when youâve read it several times? As if something were left between the pages every time you read it. Feelings, thoughts, sounds, smellsâŚand then, when you look at the book again many years later, you find yourself there, too, a slightly younger self, slightly different, as if the book had preserved you like a pressed flowerâŚboth strange and familiar.â

Tips That Can Save Your Kidâs Life.
THIS IS IMPORTANTÂ
When I was a child, from the time I was about four and could understand things, my mom told me and my brother that we should have a secret word. That way, if we were ever in trouble or felt unsafe and we didnât want the people around us to know we needed her to come get us, we could let her know. So she let us pick the word and my brother and I chose the phrase âpeanut butter cups.â (Iâm happy to share the phrase now since both my brother and I are adults now).Â
I used the phrase twice in my life. Once, I was at a friends house when I eight years old. Her dad got really drunk and was throwing things against the wall. I was really scared and I didnât want to draw attention to myself on the phone when I called my mom to come get me because I didnât know if he would get more violent if I asked her to come get me. So I called her and was calm and after a couple minutes I asked âHey mommy, did you get me those peanut butter cups from the store?â And she said âIâll be right there.â And she came and got me within minutes.Â
Second, I was a teenager spending the night at a friends house. Her brother and dad were drinking and they started talking about things that made me uncomfortable - ie: what they liked to do to women. My friend didnât seem perturbed and said that was normal for them and that I shouldnât worry. But I was worried because they were really drunk and I was 15 and the only âwomanâ around that wasnât related to them. I went in my friends room, told her I needed to call my mom and say goodnight. Before I hung up with her I asked âNext time we go to the store, can we get some peanut butters cups? Iâve been craving them.â And she came and got me, just like that.Â
Two incidents, one as a young child, one years later as a teen. Donât discredit this stuff, it fucking works. My brother used it a few times too. Let your child pick the word and no never, ever, ever, ever get mad at them for using it no matter what it is.Â
DO NOT SCROLL PAST THAT.

Sometimes it freaks me out how much like their characters they are. Emmaâs very concerned, Dan saves the day, Rupert laughs.
Iâm never not reblogging this. Theyâre just so damn cuteâŚ

âYears ago I learned a very cool thing about Robin Williams, and I couldnât watch a movie of his afterward without thinking of it. I never actually booked Robin Williams for an event, but I came close enough that his office sent over his rider. For those outside of the entertainment industry, a rider lists out an artistâs specific personal and technical needs for hosting them for an event, anything from bottled water and their green room to sound and lighting requirements. You can learn a lot about a person from their rider. This is where rocks bands list their requirement for green M&Ms (which is actually a surprisingly smart thing to do). This is also where a famous environmentalist requires a large gas-guzzling private jet to fly to the event city, but then requires an electric or hybrid car to take said environmentalist to the event venue when in view of the public. When I got Robin Williamsâ rider, I was very surprised by what I found. He actually had a requirement that for every single event or film he did, the company hiring him also had to hire a certain number of homeless people and put them to work. I never watched a Robin Williams movie the same way after that. Iâm sure that on his own time and with his own money, he was working with these people in need, but heâd also decided to use his clout as an entertainer to make sure that production companies and event planners also learned the value of giving people a chance to work their way back. I wonder how many production companies continued the practice into their next non-Robin Williams project, as well as how many people got a chance at a job and the pride of earning an income, even temporarily, from his actions. He was a great multiplier of his impact. Letâs hope that impact lives on without him. Thanks, Robin Williams- not just for laughs, but also for a cool example.â

Working hard is important, but thereâs something that matters even more. Believing in yourself. Think of it this way: Every great wizard in history has started out as nothing more than we are now. Students. If they can do it, why not us?

a kiss on the neck + wolfstar for that prompt!
It was hot out for the first time today this year and Iâm really just loving the warmth. And I also love neck kisses - combine those two things with wolfstar and youâve got me in love. Hope you like it :)
âYouâre so warmâŚâ
Remus smiled as he felt Siriusâ breath on his neck, lips pressing to the top of his spine, teeth scraping lightly.
âAm I?â
âUh-huh.â Sirius hummed lightly.
âWell,â Remus carefully dog-eared the page of his book, folding it closed and setting it on the seat cushion next to him. He raised himself onto his knees so he could turn around, forearms resting on the back of the couch, chin tilted up towardâs Sirius, âI am sitting in front of a fire.â
Sirius grinned down at him, hands coming up to push through Remusâ thick hair, curling them around his ears and coming to rest on either side of his neck, thumbs rubbing across Remusâ freckled cheekbones.
ââm just sayingâŚâ Sirius sank to his knees so he was level with Remus, folding his arms and resting his chin on his hands. They were so close that their noses were brushing, âItâs nice. Makes me just wannaâŚâ Sirius smiled suggestively, eyes crinkling.
Remus could tell Sirius expected him to roll his eyes, to tell him to shut up. He usually would have⌠if it hadnât been for the way the firelight was making Siriusâ skin look like a beautiful shade of caramel, and casting long shadows of his eyelashes across his cheeks. If it hadnât been for the way the reflection of the orange flames looked golden next to the grey in his eyes eyes.
âWhat? You meanâŚâ Remus leaned forward so that his lips were millimeters from Siriusâ, and then turned at the last second, dragging them along his jaw, âsomething like this?â He murmured into Siriusâ ear.
âOr,â He pressed open mouthed kisses down the column of his neck, stopping only once to suck a bruise onto his skin making Siriusâ eyes slip closed and take his bottom lip between his teeth.
âThis?â Remus mumbled.
He nosed along Siriusâ collar bones, smirking at the way Siriusâ head fell back, giving Remus easy access to any part of his neck that he liked.
He took a second to admire the blissed out expression on Siriusâ face, before returning to his work, leaving a few more love bites in his wake.
When he was satisfied, he kissed his way up the other side of Siriusâ throat until he reached his cheek, pressing a lingering kiss to the flushed, heated skin.
âI believe youâre the one whoâs warm now..â
I DONâT CARE ANYMORE!
