Huntr/x is attending a charity event with some school kids. The girls hang out with the children and do a few activities with them, including paper crafts. Rumi ends up impressing both her girls along with the children when she effortlessly folds an origami crane. The rest of the day is spent giving lessons on how to fold them
Later in the car on the way home
Zoey, inspecting one of the little cranes Rumi made for her: Hey Rumi, I was wondering… How’d you get so good at these?
Rumi, shrugging: Oh, you know… It’s…it’s silly
Mira: Rumi, we’ve been over this. We’re not going to judge.
Rumi, sighing: Ok, fine. I…I read a story about the cranes when I was little. I guess there’s a myth about them that if you fold one thousand, a wish of yours will be granted. And I…really wanted that wish
Zoey and Mira: *look at each other with deep concern*
Zoey, forcing optimism: And this wish was for something cute and sweet, right? Like candy for dinner or a new puppy?
Mira, warning because she cares: Because if you say you wanted your Mom to come back to life…
Rumi: Oh, no. Nothing like that. I just wanted to wish that my patterns were gone and that I was fully human like everyone else and I didn’t feel like the universe made a mistake in letting me live
Zoey and Mira: *stare at Rumi in utter horror and grief*
Mira: Every bit of lore we get about you makes everything hurt so much more
