How GM crops benefit the farmers and the ecosystem
Nowadays farmers of the Philippines tend to have lesser profit from cultivating crops due to unexpected weather conditions due to global warming and it makes it harder to tend the crops which is no joke, like tilling the soil, hydrating it, planting the seeds and also harvesting it within a time period of within a year as they are seasonal but as well as under the scorching heat.
But with the help of GM crops, it contributes to an increase in food production, better yields, and much more nutritious. It also has great impact in food quality and by growing GM crops it may influence the farmer’s income and thus their economic access to food.
Food production uses a significant quantity of arable land and natural resources, and GMOs hold promise to alleviate this burden on the Earth. ... Biotechnology firms claim that transgenic crops promise more food with less land.
More than a third of the world's potential crop production is lost each year to pests, such as weeds, insects and diseases. Biotechnology and GMO crops — like GM soybeans and GM cotton — help farmers minimize yield loss from pests, and grow more food without bringing more land into production.
So in summary, GM crops not only benefit the economical access of the farmers and the people as well as the economy, but also the lesser land is cultivated which doubles on yielding many as well as nutritious composition. And the lesser natural resources are used the more it benefits the ecosystem.
