This time last year, I was struggling so hard to keep moving forward with my life. Between school, work, a toxic relationship, shitty roommates, and a growing disdain for life itself..I was tired. This time last year, I could not imagine what it felt like to be truly happy. I yearned for peace and contentment. This time last year, I was going above and beyond for people, in my life, who actively sought to betray my trust and wish on my downfall. This time last year I had the person I loved so much, and who “loved” me too, hurt me so bad that I thought I wouldn’t return. Unfortunately, I did return and that’s when things turned truly sour. This time last year, I thought everything happening within my life was karma for what I had done to others before. This time last year, I thought I would not be able to finish university. This time last year, things were looking bleak but I pushed through. This time last year, I could not imagine a version of me that was happy, healthy, loved, and content with life--but here I am. Some of the things that I have endured during this time last year, has really shaped me into the woman I am currently today. Proud does not even begin to describe how I feel about myself, in a year I managed to turn my reality into something that is enjoyable and that I do not have to constantly escape from. One great thing about this time last year, is that it’s in the past.
