For as long as you could remember, your dream didnât feel like your own. They were off places never seen before, of fire and ash, ice and snow. Every morning youâd wake up and write what you had saw that night.
Some nights were of battles and some of a girl with teal hair. Who was this mysterious girl and why did you dream of her?
This particular night you woke up in excruciating agony. Your right arm felt like it was being torn apart and put back together. That dream was of your right arm being incinerated by a black flame and a dragon killing the person in front of you. ďżź
You were in a cold sweat, clutching your arm like it would fall apart if you let go. Why did you dream these things? What did it mean if it ment anything at all?
You went about your day as usual, going through school and your after school activities. Though it was a far walk, you always seemed pulled to a certain, abandoned park on the east side of the city. You donât know why but everyday you have to walk by there or you get a sickening feeling in your stomach.
Day by day you go on like this, never knowing what any of it means.
Your parents and friends notice of course. They simply tell you to ignore it or maybe go see a doctor but one friend doesnât push it away, she listens.
You explain every dream in detail to her and every time she gets a pale face and scared expression but pushes it away.
âIâm sorry, Keiko. You probably think Iâm crazy.â
âNo, no, not at all. Your dreams are just so interesting, thatâs all. Please, keep sharing them with me.â
So you do, every day you tell her something new. One day itâs about a world of monsters, another about getting a third eye put in.
You see anything from a third person perspective, you just see it from the eyes of someone who may or may not be you.
I wake again from that disgusting dream. A dream of human school or other activities.
A dream of people I have never or will never met.
That girl, she looksâŚfamiliar some how. A brown hair, brown eye girlâŚ
Could it beâŚthe detectives girl?âŚ
Why would I dream of her? Or wait, maybe a dream of someone who knows that girl?
âHiei! Come down from the tree, I need to talk to you.â
âWhat do you want, human girl?â
I drop from the tree. The girls stance was one of fear, maybe a hint of something else.
âMy name is Keiko. And I have a question for you. In demon world, is there anything about soulmates?â
âSoulmates? What kind of ridiculous question is that?â The audacity of this girl. âWhy would you be asking me? Go ask yourâŚmate or KuramaâŚor that obnoxious oaf.â
âI canât because if Iâm right then this involves you.â
âJust answer my question Hiei!â
âTch. Yes there is such a thing. TheâŚsoulmatesâŚare connected by dreams of the others life.â
She turns and runs away. I run after her, holding my sword to her throat.
âExplain, girl. Why would this involve me?â
âAh! Okay, okay. My friendâŚsheâs been dreamingâŚof the dark tournamentâŚof you.â
âT-the dragon, that you used against Zeru and Bui. Sheâs dreamt it, felt it even.â
A human girl, dreaming of such a thing.
âJust met her, once.â
âAnd why would I? I have no interest in you humans.â
âBecause she might be your soulmateâŚbut also because whatever pain youâve experienced, sheâs experiencing it too.â
âFine. But only because I donât want you bothering me anymore.â
