The people being used to seeing young, ab¥sed, dangerously skinny, and malnourished children (cough cough Russian skaters) being on the podium affects what figure skating is today.
Ever since the Russians are banned, the other women in skating have been dominating and in which this includes skaters like Alysa Liu. What I'm trying to say is, these people are used to seeing UNHEALTHY AND MALNOURISHED CHILDREN dominating figure skating back when they weren't banned that they call SKATERS WITH A NORMAL AND PERFECTLY HEALTHY BODY "fat", "chunky", "chubby". This is why I mentioned Alysa here. They are MOSTLY being attacked by having a perfectly fine body and healthy training. Y'all, this is NOT okay. You people are used to seeing young russians dominating the field of women's discipline that you forget what an average body looks like. Plus, we all know what Alysa went through, she was also ab¥sed by her coaches back then, causing her to quit skating. THE WHOLE REASON WHY ALYSA CAME BACK is because of changing her perspective on skating and choosing to have fun rather than being pressured and stressed. She retired because she didn't want to come back being scared of practice sessions and getting yelled at everyday in the ice. This brought a lot of trauma to her that bringing up her "chunky" body is just very wrong.
