What I did not listen to, was my gut feeling, telling me to pull a full-stop.

I have now a diagnosed Depression, stemming from my personal and professional lifestyle I had.

It is no Burnout per se, but it borders on that too.

I always had in mind that I need to continue working because of money, the team, my Teamlead… and so on.

This kind of thinking is, what pushed me into the spiral I am in right now.

So what to do? First was, talk to my doctor and having him give me a sickness cert so I get some much needed time off and also I got a small medication to get me back on track again. Next, I got a list of Psychiatrists to try to get an appointment (I still need to get the willpower to call them…)

Additional I started actively job hunting. We never should have a job make us sick, before that happens we should change what makes us sick and that is the job.

Should any of you, who reads it, ever feel down, burned out or even worse, please talk to someone. If not a doctor, then in many countries there are hotlines where you can talk to empathetic people who listen to you. You are never all alone!

I started the year as a Teamlead Assistant for our Quality Check Team and I was working hard with my Teamlead to have everything up and running just great.

Then we were in Colombia for a wedding and I was so glad to finally travel again. The people, their culture and the nature of Colombia are great and I loved it there so much.

Then came early summer and with it started changes at my current workplace, which lead to me stepping down from Teamlead Assistant as it became just too much.

From there started my depression again, that added with me getting Covid, resulted ina really long down phase, disturbed for a week by a press event that I was invited to join.

Now I am looking back at the year and I got my resolve, to look for a new job in the new year, as my mental health is more important and I will still be able to keep in touch with those that I like to talk to.

For the new year I am planning to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle and try to enjoy the little things in life again. And also be happy with what I have.

Been thinking about changing my job, even about quitting my job, but life is never simple. I will continue working there, but for today at least, I called in sick.

If you ever have the feeling that your work is making you sick and you become depressed, take a break. Take time for yourself to understand your situations and to focus on what you need.

Your physical and mental health are the most important things that you have and you have to take care of it yourself.

Try meditating, talking with others about your situation or anything that helps you to calm down so you can think about your situation more clearly.

For me, I will start cleaning the kitchen now. That helps me a lot 😊
