This is my “Why yes! I am still alive!” post. This is just for an MRI, I’m still out!😁 It’s been a bit of a rough road since my #colectomy - kind of a rough road since December but I’m still kicking. Well...not kicking, thus the wheelchair 😂 We’re still having trouble with malnutrition (see photo. my first thigh gap and I can’t even enjoy it!🙄) which is why my hair is still falling out and I can’t do much about my weight. We’re up to 22 prescriptions and living on an Ensure diet but I’m still happy. I’m still pretty damn sick, pretty damn tired but I am alive. When I went into the hospital the last time my large intestines were Dying. I was Dying (I always think of it in caps now). How lucky is it that they have a way to keep you alive after removing your intestines? Yes, it is a 💩bag that hangs of my (now) very flat stomach but the alternative? Bring on the 💩bag. It’s still not easy to mentally grasp all that has happened and honestly, besides doctors appointments, I haven’t left the house. I’m embarrassed about my hair, the chair, the 💩bag and all the weird stuff it still does. I’m physically exhausted and self conscience but happy. Happy to be alive. Happy to be home. Happy that some knitting is happening and happy to report that my good mood is still intact. This other stuff, the fear and insecurity will eventually wear off - I’m just thrilled to be alive to see it.
