Animal Room and A Clockwork Orange are two of my favorite films of all time, and I have heard AR being referred as such on multiple occasions. Heck, it was one of the many ways they attempted to advertise the movie.

However, I do not really agree with that comparison. In my opinion, it would be more accurate to say that Animal Room was inspired by AOC.

The only similarities I could muster between the two are as followed:

Both stories are set in a near-future environment.

Displays of ''ultra-violence'' are shown in both stories - Such as assault, murder, r*pe (Or hinted at, when it comes to Animal Room...), and more.

In both films there is a group of thugs who participate in those cases of ''ultra-violence''.

Both group of thugs are lead by ''the worse of the bunch'': Doug for Animal Room, Alex for A Clockwork Orange.

Both films mention a ''reform program'', although in AOC it's a lot more ''sucessful'' than in Animal Room. Ludovico Technique for AOC, ''The Animal Room'' classroom for AR.

However, the primary difference between both film is that the main character in AOC is Alex, one evil bastard, while in Animal Room it's Arnold - a lost, but good kid. Arnold isn't the cause of the evil shown, it's Doug and his gang. Plus, at the end of Animal Room, both good and evil are killed, and there is no real conclusion: while in AOC, Alex is still triving and the effect of the conditioning seems to be failing. And sure, there are other elements such as classical music being shown in both movies. However, in Animal Room it's only really a decorative theme, only heard when Doug is alone. Classical music is a central part of Clockwork Orange. Alex adores it, it seems to be one of few things he genuinely likes - Doug doesn't even acknowledge it, it's just part of the ambient sound for us viewers.

So yeah… I think that calling Animal Room a modernized version of A Clockwork Orange is a strech, a hell of a one too. However, I do think that it was a film that was certainly inspired by AOC: and I personally think Craig Singer did a good job in portraying some aspect of it. I think that Doug Van Housen and Alex DeLarge have a lot of similarities, same thing with their gangs - But it would better to approach Animal Room as its own thing, not a copie or ''remake'' of A Clockwork Orange.

That being said, it's my opinion. Feel free to disagree and share your perspective. (Oh and both movies have hot disgusting psychos... Yummies)

Always nice to meet other fans of this film.

One of my favorite thing to collect is anything related to The Crow franchise. The first installment has been my favorite film of all time for more than a decade now.

I would like to have an original dub VHS tape, and I am also aware that the TV serie came on tapes too... I'd like to get my hands on those as well eventually.

Everything you see picture here, with the exception of the Stairway to Heaven, was bought in pawn shops, or thrift stores; I'd hate to spend a pretty penny if I can 😅

This was asked a while ago, and I am only seeing this now, I am so sorry.

Long answer short: Yes, I will. However, it will come to a point where it will start becoming repetitive, because unfortunately Animal Room only as so much to offer.

It's one relatively unknown film that came out almost 31 years ago, due to this at some point everything will have been touched, but I intent to keep going until I am 1) Satisfied with my coverage, 2) Disinterested in the fandom... The later I doubt will happen anytime soon.

I will keep sharing music from the movie, make GIFs, acquire copies of the film and document it to the best of my abilities. I have more stuff coming my way soon, so more on that later...

I still hope one day that the remaster that had been planned in 2022 will still somehow come, and I will be able to document it.

As you can probably tell: I love Keanu Reeves and Matthew Lillard. They are my favorite actors, and perhaps I have a thing for the good guys... I am always looking for more films from those two.

Besides my love for Reeves and Lillard, I love to collect movies from my childhood or that includes other celebrities I adore, and that is why you will see a pretty wide range of varieties in the genres I have; although I must say that my favorites are horrors, comedies and action films (With a healthy splash of thriller too). Some of my favorite findings are my copy of Animal Room, my complete French dub DVD set of Captain Albator, my Bill & Ted box set and all my The Crow related pieces 🥹

Most of what I have acquired was purchased used, either from eBay or second hand stores (Which is why I think collecting is so special and fun).

I of course have a wantlist. My next planned purchases are The Collector , The Collection, Kingdom of Heaven Director's Cut, Spanish Judges and Finder's Fees. Lots, and lots more too of course, but if I don't make a priority list I'll just buy everything lol.
