“Marisol? Or the kid?” Honestly both were good options for his better half. “You’re right though, it’s been a bit since I’ve been completely on my own.” Not that he’s complaining. Yeah, Jer appreciated his alone time, but he absolutely hated being alone for long periods of time. And even though the deepest conversation he’s had with Leighton was bout rewinding her cartoons, he appreciated the company. 

“Ah mostly Frozen,” Jer sighs as they walk. “Frozen, Cheerios, the dogs at my brother’s house which means I’m probably going to have to get a dog eventually.” Not until she’s potty trained though, he thought to himself. Jeremiah wasn’t interested in spending twice the amount of time cleaning up poop. “And she’s absolutely enraptured with Marisol - shocked every time she walks into a room as if Marisol doesn’t live with us.”

“BOTH, i suppose.” the brunette said with a laugh. She didn’t know Marisol well and that wasn’t too shocking given her involvement with the club and some of the members. Those who were dating club members were always weary of the Sirens even though she’d never crossed that line with Jeremiah. “Nothing wrong with a little bit of alone time to keep yourself sane. Not that you need it but you know, you’re getting a lot done.” By the look of his cart, he seemed to have made up some ground work. 

“Sounds like the life of a father.” Dogs were always fun with younger children because they got to grow up together but it was also a lot of work. All Yasemin did was nod because she didn’t want to give any comments that might be unwanted. “Is she? That’s really sweet. So it sounds like it’s been an easy transition for everyone involved then.”

Sawyer pressed his lips into a thin line, knowing full well that he wouldn’t be able to stomach the scenario Yasemin was describing. But this wasn’t about him or his relationship. It was about Yasemin and what she wanted, and that was something he knew she would have to figure out and decide for herself. If someone was worth breaking old habits for, only she could know, and so Sawyer didn’t press the issue. Instead, he lightly shook his head in protest and eased out a soft sigh, “Nah, it’s okay. The only shit I don’t wanna hear is you puttin’ yourself down.” He explained, shoulders shrugging simply, “Ya ain’t a bad person, Yas. You’ve been through some shit, got dealt a bad hand, but that ain’t all ya are.” Sawyer raised his drink to his lips, “And ya deserve somethin’ good— someone good. It’s time ya start believin’ that.” He didn’t mean for it to sound harsh or like he was preaching at her, but he wanted to get his point across loud and clear, and as someone who’d always struggled to put his thoughts into words, he could only guess at how she’d receive it. Frowning gently at her words, he clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth and shook his head again, “Yeah, that ain’t so hard for me to imagine.” While he knew that just came with the territory of being a Siren, he still didn’t like the idea of Yasemin being subjected to the worst of it. As the conversation shifted though, Sawyer managed a soft smile, finding it hard to argue with what she was saying, even if he knew it was easier said than done. “Ya ain’t wrong,” he offered, shoulders shrugging. “When I got out early, sorta felt like life handin’ me another shot to do things differently— to do ‘em better, y'know? I’m tryin’. We’ll see where it goes.”

THE brunette had been realistic about her circumstances since she’d dragged her ass at the club and offered herself up for entertainment purposes. It meant that everything else would become that much more difficult. Even though she wasn’t dancing anymore, she was doing something illegal. Those in the club wouldn’t think twice about it but people like Summer — good people — probably wouldn’t want any involvement with it. “I ain’t trying to put myself down, Sawyer. It’s just how it is.” A realistic view but she understood that he wanted more for her. Maybe it just wasn’t in her cards. “I think you’re describing yourself, babe. I chose this shit. I didn’t have to walk through these doors and I don’t have the same loyalty you have. I could, in some way, get out if I really wanted it. You’re inked it.” She was a siren. No one would blink twice if she just fell off the radar. The brunette shrugged and looked around. “’nough bout that.” The subject was getting a little too real for her. The brunette nodded when he explained the second change he had. He’d come out and taken everything he wanted. “Well I’m happy for you. I hope it’s everything you wanted, babe.” She winked at him and reached out to give his hand a squeeze. “Happiness looks good on you. How’s the other one?” Her head tilted to Kit’s bedroom. Yasemin had nodded the increase in white powdery substance... partly due to partying with him. But she wondered how bad it truly was.

He had forgotten what it was like grocery shopping without a toddler. In the few months he’s had Leighton Jeremiah’s quickly learned that he can’t linger around aisles in stores with his daughter - she unfortunately got his impatience from him. But today, with his kid playing with her cousins and the babysitter all day,  he was like a kid in a candy store in the literal candy aisle. He had grabbed things he knew he needed and some extras, but he had so much time to kill before he went to pick Leighton up, he figured he’d just stroll. He wasn’t on the street for long when he felt someone wrap an arm around his own. 

The first reaction was to tense. People coming up to him without warning stressed him out - he had inherited enemies because of his last name, plus with Rogues apparently just kidnapping club members, it wasn’t a great experience for him. But when he looked to the side and realized it was just Yasmine, his shoulders loosened up and he smirked. “Oh hey. Marisol’s workin’ and Leighton has decided she likes the company of her cousins more than me so I’m free to do all my boring errands without having to listen to the Frozen Soundtrack over and over. Slowing down as a group of kids rushed by Jer shrugged. “It’s been harder, but obviously I have a lot of help. I wouldn’t change anything for the world.” At the thought of coffee he remembered how late he was up with Leighton who just wouldn’t settle and he nodded. “Oh please. You can tell me what’s going on with your life too.”

THE brunette hadn’t seen him in a while because she figured that she would allow him some time to get settled in with his daughter and due to her own busy schedule. It was almost odd though, to see him without a child hooked at his fingers. It suited him well, however. There had been no doubt in the siren’s mind that he wouldn’t be a good dad the moment she came into his life. “Odd sight to see you without your better half.” Or both, she figured. 

The brunette folded her arms over her chest and looked him over and nodded when he mentioned his daughter like her cousins more. “You’re going to soak up all the time you have with her now before she decides that she likes the company of everyone but her father.” She wondered what title they had for Marisol so she wasn’t going to assume. “I’m glad to know you’ve got people helping out. Not that leighton looks to be an handful but it’s a big change.” The brunette hooked her arm with his as she guided him down the aisle. “My life? Not as much fun as yours. I’ve just been working a lot. I want to know about the baby. She’s into frozen now, what else?”

OPEN STARTER ;

It had been a couple days since Kit had been admitted to hospital, and as far as he was aware, he was showing no signs of being fit for release. From what he could remember, at the very least his ribs had been broken and his lungs were bruised, causing his laboured breathing. He’d had a spot of internal bleeding that they wanted to keep a check on and hopefully avoid surgery. Not to mention the split lip, swollen eye, and array of bruises upon his face making him look like Frankenstein’s new monster. 

The elephant in the room though, and probably the one that Kit one the most embarrassed about, was his fairly obvious drug addiction. The doctors and nurses had picked up on it almost immediately after the first round of test results came back, and the first few days had been rough to say the least. They had sedated him to help ease the withdrawal process, but that didn’t stop the vivid and horridly unpleasant dreams creeping into his mind each time he tried to sleep, causing them to place him in soft restraints - for their safety and his. 

So it was safe to say Kit was sitting uncomfortably at rock bottom, his eyes barely open as he listened to the buzz from the TV of some dull daytime TV show. “Welcome to my humble abode.” he mumbled, not even turning his head to greet the person who had stepped inside his room.

YAS had immediately dragged her ass to the hospital once she’d heard which wasn’t the best practice since she was carrying things that might not be accepted in an hospital setting but she couldn’t care less. It was going to stay in her pocket and it wasn’t like she was going to pull his fucking bed table over to make a line for herself. She had some level of self-control. Right now, all that mattered was making sure he was okay but also giving him a little bit of shit because from what she’d heard, he’d jumped straight into a situation that had been impossible to walk out of. 

“Oh, look at that. The patient has got a smirk on his face.” Her head shook as she walked over to him, leaning down to press a kiss upon his head. “You look like shit, babe.” Yasemin pushed the covers aside to sit down, hand taking his in her own. “Before you try to twist the truth around and tell me you felt invincible which is why you took on so many fucking people on, you’re an idiot.” Her fingers began to pull the restraints off, not giving two shits if it wasn’t allowed because she hated the sights of them.

Her head shook as she chewed her lower lip. She wondered if maybe Kit just wasn’t cut out for what he was taking. Yasemin had been doing it for years now so she knew her limits and what made her do stupid decisions but someone like Kit who already had these large highs probably needed to be on something less strong. “You’re breaking my fucking heart Kit, I think I’ve gotta cut you off. I don’t want to lose you.”

The Dive had been a bit busy, leaving Seth behind the bar trying to keep things afloat. Between cleaning up glasses and taking orders, Seth was moving faster than his casual tempo to keep up. Looking up from his washing to find Yasemin, he shrugs, if anyone knew that Seth was a bit of a prideful workaholic, it’d be Yasemin. Especially after losing his position as President of the Primordials to Otto, Seth always found himself needing to dive into, all puns intended. So the Dive ended up being one of those things, his family being the other. “Hey, I’m the boss, I gotta be here plenty,” he reminds Yasmine, washing and wiping his hands off from the water he’d been in. Seth grabs the money and places a beer up on the counter, cashing her out to give her the remaining change. “What’re you doin’ here?” he comments, not particularly bitter but rather just curious. “Thought you were avoidin’ us now that you got some new gig.”

SHE folded herself in the seat and then pushed some hair from her face while she sent a quick text to Bowie to them know that she was at the bar waiting. She looked up at him and nodded her head. “Just surprised cause it’s getting late. I was expecting that it would be a slower night but I guess not.” The dive seemed to be doing good for itself and she was happy about that for the dancers sake because they could make good money on nights like this. “I’m waiting on Bowie. We’re supposed to go out and have some fun. It’s been a while since I’ve seen them.” The brunette shrugged. “I’d invite you but I’m guessing you’ve gotta get home to the family.” He had responsibilities. “Not avoiding anyone and especially not due to the new gig.” She’d quit here without a backup plan so she was thrilled when Kit asked her to work for him. “Anyone else leave since I left?” She asked, wanting to catch up even though she’d ask Bowie when they came out.

Summer knew that there was something more that she was missing here, because from where she stood, Yasemin seemed to be a normal person who just got swept up in the Club. Which at this point, who hadn’t? She was obviously friendly with them and beyond that, Summer feels amiss. Maybe it’s desperate to want to find out or to want to assure her that none of that really matters to her, but Summer can take care of herself— or at least she has in the past. “Well, if or when you’re ready to talk about it, I’ll be here.” Summer lets herself melt into the kiss for a moment, wondering if something she’d said made Yasemin think that she was heading for the hills. If anything, Summer is waiting for the other shoe to drop. “Don’t worry, I’ll keep calling. You just have to keep answering,” she smiles, placing a hand on the woman’s cheek before she could pull away. “And with that out of the way, do you want to stop somewhere on the way to get your car for breakfast? I’m starving.” Leave it to Summer to deflect away from a conversation  but it was clear that there wasn’t much more to say. Yasemin didn’t want to talk about it, so no, they wouldn’t be talking about it.

YAS knew she’d talk to her soon because it wasn’t fair to lead her on anymore if she wasn’t going to be okay with it. It was only a matter of time before Yas brought drugs over to Summer’s or even came over while she was high. She’d figure it out. “I want to talk to you about it but I’m scared. I don’t think I’m ready to be shown the door just yet.” Maybe Summer would surprise her and be okay with it but that always lasted only a little while. It wasn’t like she could be faithful while she was also a fucking siren. Relationships and her involvement with the club didn’t work. She felt her heart beat a little more rapidly when Summer promised to keep calling. Hands moved on either side of her face as she looked her over. “Don’t know how I got someone so sweet.” She deserved so much better but Yas would allow herself to be a little selfish. “Breakfast and a ride. I’d love that. My treat. I owe you for talking crap about your mug placement.” She leaned forward and kissed her one more time before getting off the bed and walking around to pick up her clothes. “Anywhere in particular you wanna go?”

Sawyer’s nose wrinkled, both because he didn’t like hearing Yasemin talk about herself that way and because he could relate to what she was saying more than he cared to admit. No one in Olympus was perfect. Everyone had their own sordid history and stains on their ledgers, but that didn’t stop Sawyer’s stomach from doing a little dip and flop every time he thought of his own sins and just how far they reached. So many of his fears seemed to mirror Yasemin’s. From the fear of his past coming back to bite him to not being good enough, it was all so hauntingly familiar to the blond that he had to resist the urge to shift uncomfortably in his seat. Frowning softly, Sawyer leaned back and raised his drink to his lips with a long sigh, “I don’t know, Yas. But the right person ain’t gonna let any of that shit get in the way of bein’ with ya,” he supplied, shoulders shrugging gently. He had to believe that, both for Yasemin’s sake and his own. Chuckling despite the weight of all the thoughts racing through his head, Sawyer glanced over at her, a soft smile pulling at the corner of his mouth, “I dunno how ya managed that. I remember some of the guys ya had to dance for,” he trailed off, knocking his head in a loose shake as a quiet laugh escaped him, “Glad ya don’t gotta fuck with them anymore.” Sipping at his beer, Sawyer smiled from behind the rim of his drink at her question, “Yeah, I’m happy,” he answered, head nodding firmly, “Things are good with Remi. Plus, I’m fixin’ shit with my sister. Feels like everythin’ is finally startin’ to fall into place…and that scares the shit outta me,” Sawyer confessed, blowing out a long sigh, “Keep waitin’ for the other fuckin’ shoe to drop, y’know?”

YASEMIN wasn’t sure what she was doing with her life. While people around her seemed to be happy and starting their lives, she felt stuck in a fucking rut. She was taking whatever people handed her, sleeping with whomever paid her attention, and just completely lost. So, she was a little envious to think that someone like Sawyer who’d been locked up a few months ago had already found the person he wanted to be with. “You’re sure about that? You think you’d be cool to know that Remi was out there sniffing whatever someone put on the table and opening her legs to anyone. Come on. We both know someone isn’t just going to turn a blind-eye to that. I don’t even know if someone would be worth stopping.” She scrubbed at her face and could feel herself being turned off by her own whining. “Sorry, you probably don’t wanna hear this shit.” As always, she began to shut down and forced a smile on her face as if everything had suddenly fixed itself. She sighed at the thought of the guys. “At least I got paid you know. It ain’t always easy with some club members either. When they get mad or drunk, it ain’t always pretty.” Again, not his problem. She smiled when he admitted to being happy, feeling glad that he was. He deserved it. “That’s normal. You’re going to be scared until you eventually fuck something up. You’re human, if you fixate on being afraid of doing something wrong — then you will. You should shift your focus on what you’d do to fix that. We all fuck up, it’s how we come back from that, you know.”

Location: on the sidewalk 

SHE smiled when she noticed Jeremiah while on her way to do some errands. It had been a while since she’d dropped by to see him but she was glad for the impromptu opportunity to catch up. Speeding up, she teasingly hooked her arm with his before dropping it when he noticed who was at his side. “Well, well, well... Long time no see. You aren’t with your better halves? His child and his girlfriend.” Her eyes took him in, glad to see that he seemed to be doing well. No extreme fatigue or day three scruff. 

“How the whole daddy bit working out for you? Easier than you expected or harder?” Her hands moved on her hips as she shifted to the front of him when a few kids tried to rush by them. “I was just going to get a coffee if you’ve got some time to catch up. It’s on me.”

location: the dive

YAS did her best to come to the dive when she knew Seth wasn’t going to be working. Not because there was still some type of grudge against him anymore but because as an ex-worker, it was less awkward if he wasn’t there. When she walked into the dive to meet up with Bowie, she hadn’t expected to find him there. Straightening her shoulders, she walked to the bar and sat down. 

“I wouldn’t have expected you to be here.” It was a little later and with children, she believed he would have made it home in time for story time. “Can you get me a beer?” she slid out a ten dollar bill before he could ask for money because she wasn’t a worker now and knew that she would have to buy her own alcohol while she was here. Which she had, for the most part, whenever she came to the dive. If the bartenders wanted to give her one or two for free, then she wouldn’t say no.

There’s a lot about Yasemin that Summer doesn’t know. She knows that. But she can’t help but wonder if there is anything that she should know. Summer isn’t an idiot. She’s aware that the woman is wrapped up in the Club, just by a bystanders view alone. Maybe if she knew that Summer was a bit more wrapped up than she’d ever have cared to have been. None was more than she would’ve cared for but money talked and student loans were heavy. But that’s not something she wants to admit— to anyone. “Yeah, sure,” she nods, unsure what that really meant for whatever this is. Hanging out was nice and obviously, she wasn’t going to turn that down. Maybe she was just reading into things a little too much. “That works for me. As long as you aren’t totally repulsed by my terrible placement of mugs and whatever my hair is probably doing right now,” she adds. As usual, she’s joking to deflect anything serious. The woman can hear Aaliyah scolding her for it too. “Well, let me know if you want to unload some of that stuff. I’m a pretty good listener, I’ve heard. And considering I mostly talk to dead bodies all day, they are good secret keepers.”

YAS knew how selfish it would be to get into something with a woman who had a very different life than the one she had. Her job was reputable and Yasemin was nothing but a menace to society. It wasn’t fair to put that on the woman who deserved a lot more than she could give. Even if they started something, she knew that rejection was on the forefront because she was too much to handle and it was better to save herself the pain. “I wouldn’t want to burden you with my issues, Summer. You’re better than I deserve. Even if your mugs are misplaced. As for your hair, I like it. I don’t think there’s anything that hair could do wrong. “I don’t think I’m ready to face judgment if I told you.” Leaning forward, she placed her fingers below the others chin and leaned in for a kiss. “But if you want to kick me out or not call me anymore.... I wouldn’t blame you.” She certainly would now but she knew for certain that the moment she opened up about her various issues, she would most likely face a lot of judgement and a door being slammed in her face.

“Took a lot longer than ya think,” Sawyer laughed, head knocking in a quick shake. It seemed so quick to everyone else but the reality was that it had taken years for Sawyer and Remi to reach this point. They’d been dancing around it for far too long, biding their time until they were ready to take a chance on each other. Blowing out a breath, Sawyer shook his head and raised his drink to his lips, “Trust me, I ain’t in no hurry to deal with that shit again. I’ve had my fill.” While his prison sentence had only lasted for five years, he’d been tormented for most of it and he wouldn’t be forgetting about it any time soon. As the conversation shifted to Yasemin’s own love life, Sawyer pursed his lips at her, “C’mon, don’t say that. Look, Yas…Remi doesn’t need my shit either and yet there she is, takin’ the good with the bad. If this woman cares about ya, she’ll do the same,” he insisted, shrugging his shoulders, “And if she don’t, then it’s her loss.” Sawyer talked like he had the slightest clue about romance and feelings, but the truth was that he didn’t. Still, he hoped things worked out for Yasemin. After everything, the woman deserved to be happy. “Who doesn’t have moods?” He pointed out, eyes widening slightly, “In your defense, ain’t a whole lotta people worth talkin’ to most days— excludin’ me, of course,” he grinned, sarcasm clearly dripping from his tone, “I’m a fuckin’ delight.”

“I must have not clued in on that.” She couldn’t remember much about last month, much less those many years before he’d been put away. Regardless, it was an interesting fit as she knew enough about Remi from their past friendship to know she’d never been too enthralled by the club and its members. “Probably a wise choice.” The brunette said as she got comfortable, lifting her feet on the table in front of her. Her love life was a mess and she didn’t know where or how to start fixing it. Maybe she appreciated being the party girl that people felt they needed for that night. It was easy and it worked for her. “I’m a siren, sawyer. Who do you think is going to put up with that? Most people think I’m too used up to be an old lady and the other half wouldn’t touch me because of the potential drama.” The drama being some members or people just being intimidated that she hung out with big guys. “She’s too good.” It wasn’t just her work but the addictions and vices she’d grown accustomed to and wasn’t ready to give up. “You’ve got a point. Feels good not to have to fake smile and compliment disgusting men with beer bellies anymore.” A thing she used to do all the time working as a dancer. “So, you’re happy then? Must be nice.”

Summer makes it a point to sit up, sure that she’s looking less than perky and well-made. But she wasn’t about to excuse herself to splash some water in her face and put on some fresh makeup. Yasmine clearly hadn’t minded the idea of waking up next to Summer, considering she’d stuck around overnight. She may not have had her car but Summer was sure that a taxi or Uber would get her back to her car if she were desperate. “I tried to put them in a logical place for my guests but clearly, my logic is not the same as everyone else’s,” she admits. Summer had always gone to the beat of her own drum. Maybe it was trained in her when she was more of an outcast than it would seem nowadays. Back when she was just the girl with the dead brother— her brother having been known by everyone— and now, she was a coroner. Something she knew that her brother would quite literally roast her for. Either way, she was moving the mugs.

“At least you know that working during the day is healthier for you,” she tells Yasmine, realizing a beat later that maybe she didn’t know. “Night shift increases your risk of heart attack and stroke and a bunch of other things. People weren’t made to work during the night. But I get it. When I was in my residency we went from days to nights all the time,” she explains, patting the bed in front of her. Her face turning to a bit more serious. Yasmine didn’t want to hear all the facts she knew about shift work. “I had a good time last night,” Summer admits, eyes searching Yasmine’s face for some sort of confirmation that she did too and that things like this might happen more often. “I like you, Yas. Even if you do insult where my mugs are.”

THE brunette wasn’t entirely sure how Summer would react when she found that Yasemin had stayed over night. Honestly, she wouldn’t be shocked if she was escorted to the door because everyone had their own boundaries but she was pleasantly surprised to see that she wasn’t. Whether or not her intent was to stay over was beyond the brunette — she’d fallen asleep and woken up feeling more refreshed than she had in months. It was nice. “It was somewhat logical.” Close to the coffee machine was where she’d looked first. Then she’d looked everywhere else because she was curious and wanted to learn more. What she’d seen was that Summer had her life together a lot more than she did. A fact she’d suspected to be true but now she knew for certain that it was true. 

Her brow rose slightly when she was given some facts about working night. She’d liked the ambiance that came with the night shift but she felt like she wasn’t living alongside everyone else. Still, her work made her go into nights and sometimes she spent days awake for reasons outside of her work. Not that she was going to say that as she already knew it wasn’t good for her. “I didn’t know that. I might have to go tell Bowie that.” Her friend probably wouldn’t care because they were making money and she wouldn’t blame them. “I like you, Summer.” She told her with a soft smile. “I just don’t want to drag you into my shit.” Her eyes looked over the woman. “But I like this... hanging out and being near you.” She hoped that between the jumbled mess, Summer could understand what she was trying to say.

Sawyer’s time in prison had certainly altered his outlook on a lot of things. He’d learned a lot about what he valued and what he wanted out of life. Ever since his release, he’d been working on bridging that gap between who he was and who he wanted to be. After the debacle with the warehouse, Sawyer couldn’t say that it was necessarily going well, but he was getting there. That had to count for something. Raising his beer to his lips, Sawyer glanced over at Yasmine and grinned into the rim of his drink, “I plan on it,” he assured her, nodding firmly. He’d made the mistake of not holding onto Remi once before, and he wasn’t looking to do it again. “Pretty sure my girl would kick my ass if I went back. That right there is enough incentive to get my shit together.” Sawyer smiled warmly. He figured that hearing that someone was proud of him would always send a certain amount of warmth careening through his chest, mostly because he’d spent his formidable years never hearing it once. Clearing his throat, he followed Yasmine over to the couch, unceremoniously plopping down next to her, beer in hand, “What about you? Somethin’ or someone keepin’ ya warm at night too?” He asked, lifting a brow at her. “Ya seem better,” he supplied a moment later as he quietly compared the last few times he’d seen Yasmine. “Lighter, almost.” She seemed miles better than she had the night of the storm, and Sawyer only hoped it would last.

YASEMIN couldn’t help but smile when he mentioned he didn’t plan on it but it was the reason that made her brow rise. “Your girl? I mean I suspected. That didn’t take long at all. The guys usually try to avoid getting into relationships after they leave prison which is why the sirens get all excited. They want to be the one who pins someone down.” It didn’t happen that way most of the time. The sirens were there as a distraction until they found other people and it seemed that Yas had been his distraction. “Whatever keeps you out but I’m hoping you’re also counting yourself in there. You might be accustomed to the prison life, doesn’t mean you wanna rush back.” Doing things for other people only went so far. She laughed and lifted a leg on the table. “A girl but she’s too good for me. She’s got a decent job and she doesn’t need my shit.” The brunette shrugged as she looked around. “Maybe I’ll just keep getting high and fucking Kit.” Felt more like her pace. Was she better or lighter? She couldn’t tell. “I don’t know. I wouldn’t count on it sticking around. I’ve got my moods. Kit moved slower, trying not to look too eager, but he wasn’t sure just how well he was hiding his addiction anymore. It had hit him like a tidal wave and without realising, he had fallen into a quick spiral of either being high, or chasing the next high. It had been an ugly transition, but one he didn’t have enough energy to fight. “Oh so we’re havin’ a party?” Kit quipped with a coy smile as he swiftly caught the tiny bag. He made quick work of the lines and hardly took a moment to breathe until he got his next fix. “I’ll take a beer.” Kit raised his head, rubbing his nose slightly. He crossed the kitchen to stand behind Yasmine, his hands coming to her waist as he gently nipped at the crook of her neck. “Thank you.” Kit murmured quietly before stepping back and plucking the beer from her hand. “How’s the new job treatin’ you?” he wondered aloud as he casually leant against the kitchen counter.

SHE’D noticed the ways in which he was quickly unravelling. Every time she came over, it seemed to have gotten worse. It took one to know one and Yasmine could spot an addict a mile away. The man who’d told her not to use from the stash she sold seemed to have been lost but she couldn’t complain much because she had someone to get high with. “You know I always bring the fun.” The brunette walked over to the fridge and got some beer, letting him have his first hit so he wouldn’t get sick and the jitters would stop. The brunette easily leaned into his embrace, letting out a small sound of appreciation. “You’ll make it up to me after.” She already had ideas on how he could do that. Turning around to stand in front of him, she opened her beer and took a swig. “It’s been going good. My clients love me.” Yas steps forward and leans into him, running her hand over his jaw. “What’s broken, babe?” No one took drugs for the hell of it anymore. They were all chasing or running from something.

\It wasn’t like Summer was a stranger to one night stands or casual sex, she’d found far more comfort in casual relationships after the death of her wife. Summer had felt like dating meant replacing Aaliyah and that’s something she never wanted to do. But after a long time speaking to a therapist, Summer found herself less concerned with replacing her wife and instead finding a new kind of love, if she was so lucky. Her time with Yasmine had been limited so far but the previous night they’d found themselves making up for whatever lost time there may be. And before she fell asleep, she found herself tracing small circles on the woman’s back before gently falling into sleep. 

Waking up was the interesting part— Yasmine was no longer in the bed but standing beside it, offering coffee and a kiss. Summer’s hand instinctively goes to brush through her messy hair, sure that it’s probably looking a bit wild. Meanwhile, Yasmine looks natural standing in front of her, bringing a smile to her face. “Good morning,” she says, taking a moment to stretch under the blankets before sitting up with the blankets covering her. “No, no, you’re awake. I’d be a bad hostess if I just sleep the day away. I didn’t take you for a morning person though. You’re lucky you brought coffee or I might hold that against you.” She grabs the mug and sips it before putting it back on the side table. “As you might have guessed I am not a morning person but coffee helps. Residency kind of taught me to sleep when you’re able so now I sleep for way too long.”

YAS wasn’t entirely sure what she was doing when it came to the brunette. Their time together was fun and uncomplicated but she knew better than to expect it would remain like that. Summer was someone who’d been in a relationship and from her experience with people like her, it was a matter of time before questions would arise. How could she explain her job and that she’d been sleeping with men on a daily basis because it was expected of her. Frankly, she deserved more than what Yasmine could give her but selfishly, she wasn’t ready to put it to an end so she continued to tiptoe around anything other than having mindless fun with her.

Watching her get up slowly, the brunette smiled and sat by the edge of the bed. Of course she looked beautiful despite the time of morning. “You don’t need to be an hostess. It took some trial and error to find the mugs but I got there.” Was she a morning person? Absolutely not but she was also in someone else’s bed and she never slept good with another person. “I know better not to approach someone without caffeine or something sweet.” Watching her take a drink, she nodded her head. “My sleep cycle is all over the place. Going from a night schedule to a day one has made sleep a little difficult to come by. Plus, I tend not to sleep well in other beds.”

YAS looked over at her sleeping figure while she crawled out of bed and tugged her shirt back on. She was beautiful and the night they had was fun. A few scary movies that she remembered nothing about because halfway, they’d begun to make out. If Yas had a bit of decency, she would have left Summer alone because she was too good for her. The woman wasn’t the type who should be hanging around a siren with an addiction problem. No, she deserved someone that was stable.

Kit was trying his hardest not to clock watch, but he was anxiously waiting to hear Yasmine’s knock upon the door. His own personal stash of narcotics had ran dry and while he could have gone out himself to get some more, he figured it had been a while since he had seen Yas anyway. Wasn’t it time for her weekly drop off anyway? Either way, the woman left Kit bouncing around his apartment trying to keep himself occupied and his mind entertained while he sat out the storm beginning to cloud over his gaze. He’d move from the kitchen, to the couch, to the table, then back to the kitchen again. Flicking through an old magazine, playing a game on his phone, fidgeting with his grinder - until finally. “Doors open.” Kit called out.

YAS had received a text from Kit indicating that he might need something from her. Which meant she’d have to share a little bit. The brunette was able to sway some of her clients into giving her a little bit of what they’d bought so she got more for her own stash without having to dip into the money that was meant to go into Kit’s pocket. A rule he’d put in place when she was first hired. Opening the door, she looked up at Kit and smiled. “Sorry, I’m late, babe.” She’d told him she would be here an hour ago but that was her mistake for thinking she could work around her clients schedule. “You coming down or what? You look flushed.” She reached into her pocket and tossed him a baggie as he seemed like he needed it. “That’s for the both of us so don’t get greedy.” She walks in further, pressing a kiss to his cheek. “Hopefully Sawyer has been restocking the beer. You got one?”
