8/7/2021 Update
i got accepted to my dream college, graduated high school AND community college, and now I’m ready to begin my new journey at the university of southern california. so much is happening and as time ticks until i’m on a plane to cali, i feel anxious, excited, and ready. online schooling was not it and i hope that irl classes will make me more motivated, especially in updating this blog! (hi i’m not dead 🙂)

Ummmm... hi? I took a long break but at least I’m back :)) I’ve honestly been procrastinating and kind of restarted my Spanish notes so aha. Anywayssss lots of things have happened since I was last on!! First off, I was accepted into my dream college 🥳 I’ll make a separate post about where but I’m so excited!! And let me tell you @ all the high school underclassmen, senioritis is real and when it hits, it’s gonna hit hard when you least expect it. Don’t beat yourself down but start from the beginning—get up, drink some water, stretch, and touch some grass.

Do not use the website called Sci-Hub!
It lets people access scientific articles for free. This is dangerous. It helps the free flow of knowledge and reduces the competitive edge of all the people who worked really hard to have been born into a wealth.
Like, it’s literally a website where you can type in the DOI of an article and read it, without ever having to pay the publisher who exploited the author.
So, again, do not, under any circumstance, use Sci-Hub. I mean, can you imagine a world where knowledge is free and easily accessible to everyone? Even, y'know, poor people?
Libgen also has many books online, including textbooks, searchable by name, author, and ISBN. Can you imagine textbook companies not getting their hard-earned income from poor college students? Here is the link just so you make sure that you never accidentally stumble across this horrible, unethical website.
Oh, and while we’re talking about books, if you’ve managed to stay clear from Libgen, definitely don’t go to zlibrary, where you can also find a lot of textbooks, but unfortunately they’re completely free.

I’m now on spring break but I got some notes to catch up on >.< So here are some astronomy notes! My alternate volleyball season is officially in full swing and we have been doing pretty goodddd. We have another game tomorrow so I hope we win that one as well haha. Oh, and if you didn’t know, I play volleyball. My position is libero ;)

So here are some astronomy notes I re-wrote right after class instead of procrastinating :)) Yesterday, I bought new pens because I was not having it with my Papermate Inkjoy *eye rolls* This is the Pentel Energel and I really like the ink flow and how smooth it writes!! Hopefully, it stays that way haha

Next week I have a microecon midterm so wish me luck!! I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before but economics is so difficult but so intriguing—I love the challenge it brings but lectures frustrate me sometimes because they seem so abstract compared to history or mathematics. Anyways, I had fun doing my notes today ft. graph paper. It makes me want to switch to taking all my notes on graph paper but I don’t know if I want to commit with that yet 🤷🏻♀️

Another day of astronomy notes that I need to catch up on :) I actually use two notebooks to take notes: one for in-class and the other for rewriting my notes. I started doing this last semester because I found it hard to focus in class and I’ve always wanted to try this method. I definitely recommend it because I don’t need to care about writing neatly and it allows me to thoroughly understand the lesson when I go to rewrite my notes. I might do another post about my exact method if y’all are curious 🤷🏻♀️
P.S. my favorite thing to doodle are eyes
looking back, and especially now knowing how my college career ended so suddenly, my best piece of advice is this: go to the party. invite your friends over. skip class to get ice cream. don’t go home after class – sit on the quad and say hi to your friends as they walk by. buy that overpriced, cheesy sweatshirt you look at every time you go to the student store. go to the basketball games and football games and even the lacrosse games no one ever goes to. take pictures. so many pictures. save every note and concert ticket and frat party wristband. quit worrying so much about your grades and say yes to more. to dinners out even if you can only order water and an appetizer. to going to the grocery store with your roommate. to seeing a play with your classmates. it goes by so fast and i promise you what you remember when it’s all over will not be the time you got a C on an exam. enjoy it while you can.

If you struggle with anxiety, overwhelm, or just plain feeling like a failure, I have a mantra for you that’s been really helping me out lately:
Just show up.
I used to skip class because the whole thing was so overwhelming: I had to get dressed in something clean even though I never had the energy to do laundry, walk to school, sit in class for up to three hours, plus pay attention, take notes, and participate in discussion. In reality, I was being a perfectionist, and life would have been a lot easier for me if I had Just Shown Up. By staying home because of my depression and anxiety, I wasn’t giving myself the chance to do any of that. I was such a perfectionist that being a “bad” or average student was unthinkable, so I stopped being a student at all.
If you’re having trouble getting something done, Just Show Up. You don’t have to be employee of the month. You don’t have to be valedictorian. Just Show Up.
ime it also helps to be like “you dont have to stay the whole time, you just have to go” bc most of the time once youre there it’s fine. a lot of things are like that, like… you dont have to finish the dishes, just start them. a lot of the time once you start a task it’s easier to finish than to stop, especially if you can trick yourself like “after five more minutes if i still feel bad i’ll go home” or “after washing two more dishes i can stop for today”
even if you don’t finish the task, you started it, and by completing part of it you lessened your future workload and ALSO taught your brain that things may not be as daunting as they seem
I saw an article called “Make Peace With Your Unlived Life” and it really made me stop and think. So much of our lives is mourning for what we didn’t become. It’s a waste. We didn’t waste any opportunities. What came and went was not meant for us.

Today, I woke up and decided to be productive! Made myself a cup of tea and completed my Spanish work and some notes. I desperately need a new Muji pen tho haha. I still need to do astronomy notes so let’s hope I don’t procrastinate on those!! Now, I will eat some brunch 😌

Back at it again with economics! This time, I’m in micro instead of macro and we’re currently learning about basic concepts i.e. opportunity cost, ppf, etc. I really like my professor this time so that’s a plus (or is it because I already know what we’re learning 🤔). I need to get Muji pen refills but they’re always sold out when I check and I’d feel to guilty to buy a whole new pen :(( Does anyone know a reputable place to get some other than the official site??
