You’re so right. Aang’s actions in the movie are understandable, but only until he’s not held accountable for any of his mistakes. Sure he wants to get the staff away from people who would use it for harm, sure he wants to bring back his people… but then Katara is standing in front of him, pregnant with his child and possibly the future of the culture he’s trying to protect (not to mention that’s his fucking wife and kid), begging him not to endanger them and suddenly all of what he’s trying to do is in a much darker light. And then no one is even mad at him??? For getting them killed??? Including his pregnant wife. She’s literally comforting him like 5 seconds after she had to revive herself, her husband, her brother, and two of her closest friends because he trusted the wrong person.

What would you rate this ship 1-10?

Maybe like a 5. I like the sun/moon symbolism and I think them both being princesses is cool. But let's be honest Azula would eat Yue alive. Toxic yuri yayyyy

5. How do you imagine they would have met since they didn't in canon?

I think a no-war AU would be interesting where they met at some sort of diplomatic council or something. I've always been a fan of no-war AUs where the gaang + Azula and Yue meet up anyways because they're all the sons/ daughters of important people. An arranged marriage AU could also be cool I love that trope.

10. Who would propose? What season is the wedding in?

Azula definitely wears the pants in this relationship so I think she would propose if it weren't an arranged marriage. I love the idea of a proposal in the spirit oasis. I think they would have the wedding in the spring or fall since I imagine traveling would be hard in the North Pole in the winter, and the Fire Nation is hot af in the summer, assuming that the wedding would be in the Fire Nation.

3. Least favorite thing about this ship?

This is going to sound so disingenuous but genuinely the only thing I dislike about them is that they weren't canon. They were so incredibly peak in atla that everything that happens between them in the comics/ them not interacting at all in the movie or in lok seems like a crazy mischaracterization to me. Like bryke was trying to keep them apart and we all know that.

6. A song you think of for this ship?

I have a whole playlist for this ship lmfao. But if I had to pick just one or two songs, my first would definitely be The Great War by Taylor Swift. I know that literally everyone in the fandom thinks this and I'm not nearly as much of a Swiftie as I used to be, but it's talked about a lot for a reason. It just fits their dynamic so perfectly. And the fact that Taylor Swift actually knows Mae Whitman, the voice actress for Katara, makes it so much better.

Other songs off the top of my head are Sunlight by Hozier and True Blue by boygenius. Please give them a listen they're absolutely top tier.

13. What's something they like to do together?

I always absolutely love the fanfic trope of Katara dragging Zuko to some sort of festival/ celebration happening on Ember Island, and I feel like going to town festivals would be a fun thing for them.

My personal favorite headcanon though is that whenever they both get too swamped with work, they retreat to the turtleduck pond together and just feed the turtleducks in absolute silence. No talking, just cute turtleducks. Perfect way to relieve stress.
