Things That Make Me Euphoric as a Greg Hirsch kin ^_^
This is mainly just a list of things to remind myself of when I’m feeling blue but idk maybe it’ll inspire other kin’s to make their own lists? Idk I just like making lists
🖇️ • Consuming Media - Yeah this is pretty obvious which is why it’s at the top but it still helps. watching Succession and looking at fanart and reading fanfiction (ik not all fictionkin are comfortable with reading fics of themselves but I love it, especially if it’s Tomgreg) Character playlists help too. Music from source or that just generally gets me into my headspace (My My Metrocard by Le Tigre is probably my favorite song in my playlist rn)
🖊️ • Height Stuff - I’m 5’7 irl (could be worse) BUT I’ve found that if I stand on my very tippy toes I can get up to about 6’0. I know that sounds like bullshit but trust me I’ve stood next to my cousin who’s 6’0 exactly and we’re the same height. Sure it’s a little painful on my feet but honestly I’m used to standing on my toes anyway (Autism) and the height is worth it. Besides if I ever decide to go into ballet, I’ll already be prepared.
On a similar note, platform shoes + inserts help a lot. They go with my style already and give me a lot more confidence in general, combine that with some cheap(ish) inserts from Amazon and standing on my toes and I’m pretty damn close to my source height. It makes me feel really giddy, not only as Greg but just as a trans guy in general, would recommend this to anyone who feels bad they’re smaller than their source height. Just please be careful and don’t hurt yourself. Still better than paralyzing and bankrupting yourself with surgery lmao
📄 • Clothing/Styling - Most of my style is pretty close to canon, pretty casual though maybe a bit more grungy than usual? Though it’s nothing I think would be super OOC so that’s good. That’s one of the benefits of kinning characters from a more grounded show, the fashion usually isn’t that hard to recreate (if only I had Rolex money sigh /j) I do go the extra mile and try and get some pieces that are as close as possible so far I’ve thrifted my episode one green jacket, a striped button down and a beige sweater.
I’m lucky to have my same colored hair and a vaguely similar style but next time I go in to get a cut I’ll use a photo for reference to make it more accurate ^_^
📂 • Vocals/Behaviors - I know the term “vocals” is mostly for Therians/animalistic otherkins to hone their chirps and barks and whatnot but I use it here to describe how my speech changes to make my source. Honestly not much is different, I speak with a slightly deeper inflection (hopefully when I start T I can use my regular voice then) but the main change comes in my speech patterns. I stutter a lot more often; not like a ‘cute’ Wattpad Y/N girl stutter like a more realistic uh- sort of like this? Kinda? (I don’t really do it as a typing quirk though). I also do the thing where I sort of raise the inflection? At the end of my sentences? To make it sound more like I’m questioning things? As I do in source a lot? And I’m already prone to awkward rambling and nervous giggles so that I already have down.
As for behaviors, I’m already prone to nervous fidgeting like I am with vocal patterns, sitting on desks/counters, slouching when I sit and vocal stimming, of course I have ones that are not related to my kin identity but lately I’ve started saying things like “Greg’s cutting it up” / “if it is to be said so it be so it is” / “to do do do final day of employment” etc. I also find that I feel most like myself when I’m able to serve other people, even if it’s something small like fetching something for my dad, subconsciously I’m thinking “dude I’m so Gregged out right now they don’t even know.” If I ever get self conscious about acting out of character (btw you are still valid if you act nothing like your kintype I’m just speaking from my own experience) then what helps is to write down all the things I DO have in common with my source such as my intellect, my dorkiness, the fact I tend to get overlooked, my willingness to please, the list goes on. It’s really helpful for me and maybe for you too.
📉 • Name - Hey did you know you can just lie? Yeah whenever I go to my local gas station/corner store I just tell them my name’s Gregory and they’re none the wiser, suckas. Something I’ve started doing also is when introducing myself with my irl name (which I should note I am still comfortable using) I follow it up with “but I also answer to Gregory, long story.” And if they ask? I’m just like “well when I was a kid blah blah blah and I’ve been Gregory ever since” only my best friend addresses me as Greg part time bc he knows about the kin thing. But yeah you can just lie lmao
Anyway that’s it. I hope some of these help, again I know everyone is different but these are some of the things that help me. Mainly I just wanna talk about being Greg because it makes me really happy. I’m Greg and I love being Greg <3
