"I have to." Cinder confessed. "It's part of my nature." She said handing her the heart. There was a smile at the other. "It's really good not like the veiny types." She said as handed the heart and licked her fingers. "There's more to go around anyhow."

"Your nature?" Astrid took the heart and glanced at it for a moment. There was no repulsiveness that should have come with what she was doing nor what she was about to do. Feeling no type of weariness she took a bite of the heart.

Another sleepless night and Astrid was walking around aimlessly. She wasn't fully paying attention to where she was walking so when she came across the other she found herself a bit surprised. She took in the scene in front of her and realized that she was curious more than anything. "Is this something that you do often?" She asked asked she reached her hand out. Something in her mind was telling her to say yes.

"You will adjust" Klaus murmured, "whilst it may take time, you will learn to adapt to the new ways of the world." His lips twitched with amusement as he offered the other a shrug, "I myself am speaking from experience."

"Experience? What experience would you have when you gotten to change with the times?" She asked "Have you ever been at peace and forcefully pulled away from it." She sighed softly

Evan looked up as a female voice pulled him out of his thoughts. A sad smile crossed his lips. "Oh me, yeah I'm fine... just a tough day at work.." he admitted to the other.

"Oh. What is it that you do?" She asked. While Astrid knew nothing of the jobs that people did now she did understand that people did have bad days. She had had a few of them recently.

Sometimes the strains of his job had its effect on Evan. He was only human and almost anyone who said they didn't occasionally get too investing in a case were liars as far as Evan was concerned. He sat on the floor head in hands as he thought about the two children he had no chance of surviving and then the feeling of telling their mother. "Today sucks.." he mumbled to himself no knowing another was listening.

Astrid was just walking around when she overheard the guy speaking. Curiosity getting the better of her she turned and went into the direction of where the voice came from. Seeing him on the floor she became concerned. "Whats wrong."

Sometimes Astrid would just sit and people watch. And today she had decided to do just that. So with a smoothie that flavors shouldn't have mixed but somehow did she sat down and just watched. A soft sigh escaped her lips feeling a bit out of place. She was lost in her thoughts and didn't realize someone had sit next to her until they spoke. Blinking some she glanced over at the girl as she let the words register in her mind. Astrid had never thought of leaving but.. "Where would you go?"

A subtle hum left his lips at her correction for the nickname, yet it wasn’t clear whether or not Klaus would oblige, or respect her wishes. Naturally, he was sceptical of her reasons for interest, but that wasn’t anything personal – simply his own paranoia imminent to intervene. “Entertaining" he quipped as he dared to reminisce, "intriguing, I suppose. I've experienced much over my lifetime. Some empowering -- other parts of history less so." Clearing his throat, he dared to question "why the interest?"

Astrid listened, initially with envy but then thought that it must be lonely to live for that long. Her held tilted some and she shrugged. "Curiosity. Everything now is so different. I find myself struggling with things sometimes."

"Then fear not, love and trust that I mean you no harm. My grievances lie elsewhere" he muttered, before his brow piqued within momentary interest. "Arguably less so than the 20's -- but I suppose there's some redeemable qualities to be spoken for."

The nickname didn't bother her too much but she did prefer for him to call her by her actually name. "Call me Astrid." But she did feel a bit of curiosity at his response. "What was it like? Living through history?"

“And I asked if you think yourself important enough for me to do so?” Klaus retorted sharply, “but it would seem that my reputation precedes me and you think I go around killing for sport. Each to their own, I dare suppose” he quipped tauntingly. Once a monster, always a monster in the eyes of those who knew him from the stories. His lips twitched, head tilting within momentary assessment “I have no reason, to kill you. Nor any desire."

"My ego isn't that big to think I'm important to anyone here. I just made a wrong assumption." She paused. *But that is good. I mean getting a second chance to actually live my life. This era is quiet interesting."

Astrid tilted her head in slight confusion before shaking her head. "I didn't ask if I was important, I asked if you were going to kill me. You answered a question that no one asked. My ego is not that big. But killing people for no reason is something you do. Am I wrong?" Slightly misplaced bitterness laced her tone and normally she would have just stayed quiet and accepted the answer but she was tired. And one thing that Astrid realized about herself since coming back was that she didn't have much of a filter when she was exhausted.

He was a face she hadn't seen before. She watched as he licked the frosting and tilted her head in slight amusement. "I'm glad you like it. Take whatever you want... I have more stuff in the oven."

Lysander gingerly took the cake and tried to force a smile. The fairy ate the cake and genuinely smiled after. "You out do yourself everytime Astrid." He said with a beam. Lysander sighed. "Lord Mikaelson set my cake on fire out of anger. I know he didn't mean too but they always say the first action is the truest." He said with a sigh. "I think the Mikaelsons dont appreciate me."

"Thank you." Astrid replied acknowledging his compliment "Maybe you should stop addressing him as a Lord and use his name. "She glanced at the time and went to check on the pies as she continued to speak. "I may not know much about them currently but there aren't any better than the rest of us. They just got to live longer. And if you feel like they don't appreciate you say something."

Lysander was walking slowly back to the compound, a bit more upset than usual. Was his baking really that bad that Briggs set it aflame. The fae continued walking until he smelled the familiar scent. Wordlessly he sat in the corner and sighed looking at his friend. "Astrid-"He asked in Nordic. "Am I bad baker?"

Astrid tilted her head in confusion. She wasn't sure where the question had come from so she wasn't fully sure how to answer. Instead she moved to cut him a slice of cake and placed it on a napkin before speaking. "Taste that first and then tell me what has you feeling.." She paused trying to think of the right word. "Down. What has you feeling so down?"

It felt like every time they met, he was almost running into her, or vice versa. "That's okay, I was trying not to exist," he retorted, a little darker in his humor--if it could be called humor. The spirit was missing behind it. "Not really focused either, 's what I mean." With a breath to attempt to ground himself better, he asked, "you alright?"

Her eyes narrowed at his initial reply but she didn't say anything about it yet. Instead she studied him for a bit. There was something different about him but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. "I can ask the same of you."

“you’re welcome.” the dragon spoke for a moment. eyes roaming around the street wondering if anyone else was going to be out for a later night walk or something. “You’ve never had fries before?” Carmen questioned as she turned to look at the other. who hadn’t had one? it was a good staple. “you can have a couple of more if you want them..maybe take them, not a fan of these ones.”

"No, I haven't. But I'm fine for now. I don't want to take all of them." Astrid gave the girl a soft smile as she wiped her hands off. "They can stand to be a bit less greasy though." She looked around for a bit before asking. "Is this something that you normally do?"
