PAST: 

Oliver had always been a bit off. Growing up the son of a widowed father (and scientist), Bedford Grayson, he never really had time for normalcy. His father left Oliver usually alone in the household, whilst he was off in a lab, doing god knows what. In fact, if it weren’t for the constant maids, butlers, and nannies, one might build a case against Bedford Grayson on terms of child abandonment. Oliver never seemed to mind his father’s absence. As far as he had always been concerned, the more time he had alone, the more time he had to read. Not your average kids tale, but large, science and medicine books. Books, that at the young age of 8, Oliver should not have been able to comprehend. However, the young Grayson child did. Going through one book after another, his brain enlarging itself with more information than thought possible. Nobody knew of the child’s gift, for he mostly spent his time locked away in his room, unless asked to do otherwise. In fact, many people outside of the Grayson home, had grown to forget that Bedford Grayson even had a son, let alone one with more intelligence in the study of science and medicine than a young child should have. It wasn’t until the age of 14 when the young boy’s face had been shown to the world. However, not in the way most people had expected. Being a successful doctor and scientist, Bedford Grayson was one who’s face was used to being in the local papers. So when pictures appeared of Bedford, carrying his 14 year old son out of the house, with more than concern sprawled on his face, people could not hide the shock that rose. At the young age of 14, Oliver had grown a brain tumor, that had caused frequent headaches that had gone unnoticed by his father. On the rare day that Bedford had decided to visit his son, he found him lying on the floor, lifeless hand still resting on a book that was slipping out of his fingers. Hence, the pictures in the paper that showed the events that took place on Bedford’s desperate journey to the local hospital. Oliver was diagnosed with brain cancer. Thankfully, the tumor had not grown too large, but doctors had to operate immediately before the cancer had a chance to spread any further.

Oliver spent months in surgeries, chemotherapy, and hospitalization, whilst his father faced the court facing child protective services for his lack of involvement in his child’s life. Once Oliver was decided he would be able to be placed in recovery mode, he was sent to live with his Aunt in New York, where he continued the rest of his recovery in a New York hospital.  He has not heard from or seen his father since.

    PRESENT: 

Years later, Oliver is a student at Frayn university. Thanks to his outstanding grades in home schooling, he received an early acceptance. His resentment towards his father does not prevent his passion for science and medicine, and so therefore he has decided to major in both. He has survived his brain cancer, but goes to the doctor for checkups once every 2 weeks, for the high chance of it returning. His immune system was completely beaten down by the chemo, and so he is on medicine constantly, to calm his side effects. He joined the Fraternity in hopes of gaining some normalcy in his life, which he did. He is at the top of his class, and is respected by most of his peers. Not many people know about his past with Cancer. He likes to keep that information to himself. Although he is serious about his school work, he does not deny himself the visits to his aunts house, who he considers the only person he truly loves and respects.

BIOGRAPHY: 

PAST:  Alexander Reed is originally from New York, the Upper East Side to be exact.  He went to a prep school practically all of his life.  He’s lived the life that most people have only dreamed of living.  Alex had an incredible home.  His parents were wealthy, he was pretty popular, but he was also forced to be perfect.  That didn’t go well with him for too long.  It actually drove him to do some pretty wild things, like drugs and alcohol.  He moved out to California on his own, mostly for school.  He didn’t want to do those rebellious things again.  He got into Stanford University with a sports scholarship, but Alexander has always wanted to be a writer, maybe a journalist.  He just wants a fresh start.  He wants to leave the troubles of New York Prep and his old life behind.

PRESENT:  About a month into the big move, Alex ended up relapsing and going back to his old ways.  He was in attendance to every frat house party within a ten-mile radius.  They are some habits you can’t kick, no matter how hard you try.  Partying was one of Alexander’s.  However, there were some things that could happen to show you that this is not how you want to live; it’s not a habit you want to keep—something like a slap in the head, if you will.  Alex’s slap in the head was a death, the death of a fellow partygoer.  It was the girl that Alexander had a major crush on, Samantha.  She wasn’t an big party person like Alex and other students were, but she sure did party that night.  She took a few shots too many, and passed away from alcohol poisoning.  She was made an example of at Stanford, showing kids that the end result of all of this drinking could be death.  From that day on, Alex has never attended another party, club, or anything that had alcohol.  Alcohol took away the girl that he probably could have been in love with.  It took away that chance. From that day on, Alex moved back to New York where he transferred to FUN, trying his luck again with The Big Apple. It was a chance at a fresh start and hopefully new beginnings.
