Remember when Grace Hanson was so desperate to process her hasty marriage to Nick Skolka with her best friend Frankie Bergstein that she offered to wear a two-person conflict resolution sweater, start a sharing circle, and to let Frankie bathe her? Remember when Grace wanted Frankie to accompany her and Nick on their first big night out as a married couple—and Frankie actually went on the date with them, in no small part because Grace warmly and lovingly referred to Frankie as her “emotional support witch”? Remember when Grace and Frankie wanted the men in their lives to become good friends so they’d never have to choose who to spend time with and so they could go on vacation together, and how this scheme came about primarily because Grace realized a foursome is more socially acceptable than a threesome? Remember when Frankie only spent about five seconds feeling sad that this season’s boyfriends didn’t work out? Remember when Frankie said “You are just first-rate, kid” and Grace said “You’re first-rate too, Frankie”? 

Remember when Grace’s number was the only one Frankie knew by heart, and then Grace and Frankie confirmed they were each other’s number one phone call and number one person, and Grace cried at the seafood restaurant and said she’d lost herself in her marriage to Nick and that maybe she shouldn’t have married him because the real her, the one she actually liked, was the person she was with Frankie?

My thoughts aren’t as all over the place as they usually are after finishing a season of Grace and Frankie (amazing what a cohesive narrative and a happy ending can do!) but I do have a lot of thoughts and feelings and questions and ideas, which I’m attempting to group by theme. Here we go!
