I know this is not a platform where issues from the global south get any attention, but I'm still going to write about it because it's something I can do. For the past month, young people in India have been protesting the country's education system and demanding the resignation of the education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, following the leak of the country's medical school entrance exams after which 21 students committed suicide.

Today, 20 July 2026, police in Delhi and Mumbai beat protesters with batons, tear gassed them, shot them with rubber bullets and illegally detained them. Protesters included students, children, young people including young women whose clothes were torn, and people of all ages.

The Modi government has done this MANY times before. In Kashmir, in Manipur, multiple times in Delhi itself. They are banking on people getting scared and the protest losing steam. I beg you to not let that happen. I'm not a huge account, I don't have thousands of followers. The only thing I can do is speak with the voice I have.

Delhi isn't even the only place they have treated protestors this way TODAY. Police beat up adivasi protesters in Madhya Pradesh who have been trying to protect their land. This protest has gotten significantly less attention but it stems from the same vile nationalist government.

He felt responsible for those people who lost their lives because he wanted to be accountable to his responsibility.

Ek wo din tha aur ek aaj ka din hai.

This cowardly pathetic education minister Dharmendra Pradhan is refusing to resign even after the NEET paper leak, so many deaths of students – that are STILL HAPPENING btw – due to this, and the biggest scientist-reformer of the country is on a hunger strike unto death!?!?!?

For more than two and a half years, you have stood by me through some of the hardest moments of my life. Your support, your words, and your kindness helped us keep going when we were close to breaking. Because of you, we were able to hold on, and I will never forget that.

But the truth is, our story is not over yet.

We have lost everything, our home, our source of income, and the stability we once had. It feels like we are not just starting from zero, but trying to rise from below it.

Now things are even harder with my father’s illness. He needs ongoing care and treatment, while we are facing a complete lack of income. Even covering our basic daily needs has become a real struggle.

We are doing everything we can to stay strong, but we cannot do it alone anymore.

I am not asking for much, just for you to stand by us as you always have. Any support, no matter how small, can make a real difference. It can help us cover my father’s treatment, provide our basic needs, and help us keep going.

Please sign and share this petition. Sonam Wangchuk, a prominent engineer, innovator and educator is currently on Day 20 of his indefinite hunger strike. His demands? Accountability for the NEET UG (entrance exam for medicine and allied fields in India that lakhs of candidates, mainly 17-20 year old students appear in) paper leaks and stricter exam conduction. The government, instead of opening a dialogue to at least hear what he has to say, won't even ACKNOWLEDGE it.

You might already know him if you have watched 3 idiots. Yes, the character of Rancho/Phunsuk Wangdu was based on him.

This petition is NOT about asking Sonam Wangchuk to withdraw his hunger strike. It is urging the establishment to open a dialogue

I get it now. The youngsters for whom u refuse to take a stand are just here to fill your theatres and your own pockets.

Guys I dont care what your political standing is. I dont care whether you support bjp or congress but you cant deny that the government is utterly shameless for letting a man like Sonam Wangchuk starve himself just to have a dialogue with those in power. This man is literally fighting for something that is going to affect lakhs and lakhs of students across the country. And he doesnt even need to do it. But he is still out on the streets fighting for justice and our rights

You could hate CJP with everything that you have but dont let that hate blind you from the fact that a scientist, an innovator, the recipient of Ramon Magsaysay award is doing everything he can to reform the education system, to make the lives of students better.

Coming back to those 'heroes' who have done everything to sell patriotism on screen....where does it disappear when it comes to taking a public stand for your own country? You guys did not feel the problem when making a film based on Sonam Wangchuk's life. Then why are they silent now??? I could name so many celebrities rn - Akshay kumar( bhaisahab herogiri jaise fufu karne mai nahi hai vaise chup rehne mai bhi nahi hai), Aamir khan( ab samaja chatur chatur kyu tha - to all those ppl who are saying omi vaidya is an american citizen so he does not have anything to lose - bhai chup baitho..atleast he had the guts to speak up ) alia bhatt, varun dhawan, sachin tendulkar, katrina kaif, vicky kaushal, shah rukh khan and i could name so much more ????
