Summary:

He starts rummaging around in a drawer until he pulls out a small Ziploc baggie filled with clipped paper rectangles of varying sizes and flips through them, selecting a couple before walking over to Shane and presenting the offering. Shane takes them because what the fuck else is he supposed to do? “Fifty percent off of butt-blasters?!” “It is very good deal for those,” Ilya says seriously, as if he can’t see the vein starting to pulse lightly on the side of Shane’s neck. Shane flips over the second coupon. “Flash sale for those who like - sounding?” He frowns. “What the fuck is that, like a sexy - instrument? A recorder?” Ilya barks out a laugh. “Hollander. You are joking? A - sexy recorder?” “Another name for dick is ‘skin flute,’” Shane says miserably. “Remember, I googled.” “Okay, well - sex shop is not advertising sale on skin flutes, you pervert. Sounding is - actually, why don’t you go and find out. Can be your homework, while I am at practice,” Ilya says with a wink. “And if you decide you want to try, you have coupon for what we need. Perfect way to kill time.” Shane may just kill him.

Part VIII of Textual Healing started as a 'short fic about sounding' & became Shane at a sex shop meeting an original character possibly based on another more known person's original character (stay away HW legal team), multiple filthy interludes, a smattering of star charts, and what I hope is a bit of a Shane Hollander thesis, on this journey where he searches for sex toys and ends up finding - a little part of himself.

Not seeing Rozanov is not an option, so instead Shane picks out a few other cities to regularly go out by himself in. He'll go for a long walk, maybe sit down somewhere for a drink, and then catch a taxi back to the hotel an appropriate amount of time later. It's honestly pretty nice, unwinding by himself in this way, and now disappearing after games is not a thing specific to Boston! It's just another strange Hollander quirk!

Unfortunately, he fails to account for the guys on the team jumping on the most obvious explanation for all these disappearances, which is that Shane now has a girl in every port.

Word about this starts to spread quick, because it is so out of character for Shane, and pretty soon half the league is under the impression that he's some secret playboy.
