QEPD Robert Carradine (1954-2026). Si bien su hermano David (Kung Fu, Kill Bill) fue más legendario y Keith (Nashville) es mejor actor, Robert Carradine fue el más cercano a mi experiencia como espectador, desde su debut en el cine en The Cowboys (1972), junto a John Wayne, veterano de las películas de John Ford como su padre, el patriarca familiar John Carradine (1906-1988). Robert participó en 1980 en dos clásicos: The Long Riders, junto a sus hermanos David y Keith; y The Big Red One, dirigida por Sam Fuller. Fue parte del elenco de una interesante película de venganza en la que interpretó con 22 años a un estudiante de secundaria, Massacre at Central High (1976), disponible en España en la plataforma Filmin. Por supuesto, vi de adolescente Revenge of the Nerds (1984) y fue, sin duda, su momento estelar, quizás su película más popular. Paz a sus restos.

Dolly Parton as a hairdresser and Delta Burke as a pushy, vainglorious beauty pageant winner and judge (unnamed, but clearly meant to be Suzanne Sugarbaker, her character on the CBS sitcom Designing Women) in moments from a skit on the Dolly variety series, originally broadcast by ABC on October 25th, 1987. Dolly and Delta cracked each other up frequently during the skit, breaking character and laughing at each other's ad-libs and various mishaps with the voluminous skirt on Delta's over-the-top gown. Fun Fact: Delta was an actual beauty pageant winner, having won the Miss Florida crown in 1974 at the age of eighteen and earning the distinction of being the youngest winner in the pageant's history.

For the laws criminalizing pot, white people (usually youth) often get off with a slap on the wrist, but BIPOC get harsh sentences, including prison time. Same goes for traffic offences (including DUI). Also laws for loitering, gangs and so on are used much more often against BIPOC - people are being denied their freedom of movement or just being allowed to be out in public without being afraid of being arrested.
