Oh, my dear. Don't pay mind to the ignorant person who left that comment. Clearly they don't know how to convey their thoughts... because nothing of what they said made sense. In fact, your practice will be pretty darn "legitimate" after you completely a Yoga Teacher Training...forgive my lack of maturity for a second but... Duh!? That's why it's called TEACHER TRAINING. And you're going to eventually be the teacher. Teach without a mat, who cares? You've had your own home practice that has taken you to a point where a mat is irrelevant to you. And that's You and Your practice. What matters is that your students who are new to yoga know that they should use a mat for cushion and safety. Once they develop the experience you have, anyone can practice yoga however they want. When you become a teacher, you become a nurturer, you care about your student's practice and safety. So yes, tell your students to have a mat, a towel, whatever. Until they're experienced enough to do whatever they want. And please do not pay mind to young, ignorant minds who make such awful yet laughable comments. (Because seriously, it made no sense. And the toes? What? What do your toes have to do with this? Because I'm pretty sure I can feel all "four corners" of my feet whether I press them onto a mat, wooden floor, sand, ceramic tile.. Shit, I've even done handstands on pebbles by the river! Lol.
