I was analysing the arudha and upapada lagna of myself, my friends and other people and I feel like arudha lagna is definitely what people think about you whereas your ascendant is how you really are. My mom's ascendant is pisces but her arudha lagna is in Scorpio and has sun in it, and people always see her as a very private person, dominating, serious, strong, secretive, sort of detached type of a person and a leader, but people who are very close to her know that she's a total softie.
