Maya. She strikes again. She is so deceptive and wondrous. She touches down to your soul with her darkness, letting light flood your being so easily, you believe whole-heart that you are doing the right thing.

For the summer of 2018, I dated a boy named Shane River. We took off on a spontaneous adventure together exploring the world with little holding us down. We laughed, loved, cried, yelled, and sprinted down thousand foot sand dunes. We experienced many elements of nature together, and reached new boundaries in life with each other by our side. To the dismay of reality, when summer ended and life began again for the both of us, things got rocky and we realized it wasn’t going to work out.

I still reminisce on those times of freedom. I will cherish them and never forget. It was like one long movie that I never thought would have an end. Everything I thought I knew was turned upside down and I was left with a fresh perspective. From now on, I realize that there are infinite attractions to go witness, and as long as I keep trying to find them, I will be motivated to live a full, healthy, spiritual life. Travel is so important to me. I thank River everyday for embarking on a journey with me. He felt like true family the whole way through.

He is distant now, and I cannot blame him. We spent the first week we met each other without even exchanging phone numbers. We began in the moment, and we ended electronically. Which is why it doesn’t feel like its the real ending. I know he will be in my future at some point, and I have no idea what will happen until then, but all I know now is that he is the first man who I have reached higher realms with. Higher realms where truth was in clarity and the wisdom of 1000 ancestors was in my cabeza.

I will continue to keep my head up and save my valuables. I know I will have to survive hardcore one day. I am planning on leaving the comforts of the city at some point. I want to do it the right way, however, or else I will just end up a rock bottom. I will keep my pathways as clear as I can. I will envision my openings, raw and exposed, and fill them with warmth, energy, and light. I will continue striving toward eating a healthy diet 100 percent of the time and maintaining an active lifestyle.

1. School ends, my third eye opens, and I find out that so does Ruby's at the same time as me.

2. My travel partner's brother gets into a coma the night before we were supposed to leave for Spain.

3. I decide to go alone, and hop on a train.

4. Train is late by 1.5 hours, causing me to miss my chance of making my flight by 15 minutes.

5. I spend the night and day in DC, where I meetup with Jack Camino and we become good friends.

6. Mom is going to the mountains, I hitch a ride with her so I can go backpacking into Damascus for Trail Days.

7. First night on the trail, a bear steals all of my food.

8. I tell everyone I can about it as I pass them going south, and we exchange friendship.

9. I meet Pork and Beans, two nuthead old dudes who end up becoming my tramily.

10. We get back to their house in Damascus and they already are buying me lunch and cleaning my clothes for me.

11. After a day of hospitality, including a place to stay and introductions to all of their friends, I explore the town and see some of the trail buddies I had met in the woods, who also had met Pork and Beans.

12. They show up to the ranch, where we chillin on the porch, and after beers they tell me to head over with them to the Broken Fiddle hostel.

13. I go to the hostel and meet many awesome hikers, meet a fellow dreadhead and talk to him for hours, and then befriend the owner of the hostel and go see her personal home.
