May 20, 2017 — When you find out that two hikers you hiked with at different parts of the trail are actually brothers. Shout out to Sherpa and Bill the Pony!
May 19, 2017 — Some real trail magic. Hiked through the hottest day so far into Daleville, a pretty large trail town, and ran into a hiker named Ontario, who hooked me up with a ride to Damascus for Trail Days. Turns out our driver was none other than Miss Janet, a famous trail angel who follows the AT bubble during hiking season. While we waited for Miss Janet, a bunch of us hung out at Ontario's aunt's farmhouse in Daleville and enjoyed our first of three zeroes. We packed Miss Janet's van to the brim - 15 people and a dog, strapped our packs to the roof rack, and road tripped south on 81 to Trail Days. Miss J even put us up in her massive tent that first night in Tent City.
Made it into Damascus Saturday for Trail Days. Took two zeros with family. Switched out gear and lost a few pounds off my pack. Excited to head out again tomorrow.
