It's July! That means this years trope vote is now OPEN!

It's open for everyone to vote on their favourite tropes - including many highly-requested additions from your 2025 honourable mentions!

The vote will be open until the 27th of July.

We aim to have the prompts list ready for the end of August.

If you want to chat about your favourite tropes, the Discord Server is always active for our wonderful community of whumpers.

Hello, second half of the year! And with it, our July 2026 Flip It event has arrived!

Take one of your own works, or a fanwork of someone who has publicly stated[*] that they allow remixes. Create something new based on it, specifically from a different point of view.

That could be an opposing character or bystander experiencing the same events, someone in the future looking back on the events of the original, art from a different angle, switching from omniscient to limited narrator (or vice versa), ...

[* You can check the FPS List for authors in your fandom that allow transformative works. Carefully read the statements and follow any requests to be notified and/or credited. Orphaned or anonymous works are not fair game! Check if the original creator included a permission to transform in the tags or notes.]

How it works:

Minimum 1k fic/writing OR 1 piece of art (which could be any of the following: drawing, podfic, poetry, graphic or fanmix) based on the prompt

Post completed works during the month anytime before midnight July 31st according to your time zone.

If posting to AO3 please tag works as 'femslash big bang monthly challenge' and add it to the AO3 collection (linked below). This makes it much easier to find works and confirm they're appropriate for the collection.

The round up post will be posted about a week later on August 7th

Welcome to Fanlore’s annual celebration of Fandom in Color! Throughout the month of July, we’ll be spotlighting favorite characters of color, and highlighting pairings, events, discussions, and more.

Both characters and fans of color are often overlooked in fandom spaces, and we’re trying to expand their presence on Fanlore. We work on this year-round, but in July we ask specifically for your help by sharing and editing the pages we highlight this month and adding new ones that are not yet documented on Fanlore.
