How it works:

Minimum 1k fic/writing OR 1 piece of art (which could be any of the following: drawing, podfic, poetry, graphic or fanmix) based on the prompt

Post completed works during the month anytime before midnight July 31st according to your time zone.

If posting to AO3 please tag works as 'femslash big bang monthly challenge' and add it to the AO3 collection (linked below). This makes it much easier to find works and confirm they're appropriate for the collection.

The round up post will be posted about a week later on August 7th

All Fandoms AND original works allowed, just so long as the main ship is femslash - see FAQ below or send an ask if you need anything clarified :)

Welcome to Fanlore’s annual celebration of Fandom in Color! Throughout the month of July, we’ll be spotlighting favorite characters of color, and highlighting pairings, events, discussions, and more.

Both characters and fans of color are often overlooked in fandom spaces, and we’re trying to expand their presence on Fanlore. We work on this year-round, but in July we ask specifically for your help by sharing and editing the pages we highlight this month and adding new ones that are not yet documented on Fanlore.

Fanlore should be inclusive of all aspects of fandom and all participants in it. We hope you enjoy what we share this month, and we welcome you to join us in documenting even more.

July’s prompt is “favorite memory”!

Kazuki Takahashi sadly passed away July 4, 2022. In memory of him, please share your favorite memory relating to Yu-Gi-Oh. Is there a particular moment in the anime? Maybe when you met your favorite voice actor? Even playing the card game with your friends! What is something you fondly remember?

Thanks to everyone who took part in Starshipping Week 2025 last year, which also celebrated the 15th anniversary of Bond Beyond Time, the movie that introduced our beloved Starshipping to the world! 🤭💖

Just like every year, the event will run from July 31st to August 7th, with a different prompt for each day! ⬇️

Well, hey there guys, gals and non-binary pals! I decided (in my infinite wisdom if which there is none of) that I wanted to open up a writing challenge for people who wanted something a little out there. WELCOME TO HELLO HANKERCHIEFS! (An 18+ LGBTQIA multifandom writing event!)

RULES:

All participants in the event must use this form to generate their bingo cards. You can have as many or as little as you want to write!

Once all cards are generated and handed out over Tumblr/Discord, participants can then begin their fics at any time between that date and July 30th, 2026 (plenty of time to think about everything!)

All fics must have a rating between Teen and Up at the very least, Mature or Explicit due to the nature of the prompts being given.

All necessary tags must be included in the fic for content purposes, including the tag for the challenge, both in Tags and Collection if on AO3 and everywhere else if not (hellohankies2026)

No hate to anything written here! Anything goes when it comes to both participants' writing as well as the content of the cards.

For this month, our optional prompt is ☀️Desert 🏜️

Desert could be a location, for adventure, on a quest, of exile or a home, and they aren't just sandy terrain, they can be tundra or polar deserts too. This could be someone stranded on a desert island or talking about it theoretically, what would they do to survive on one or what (or who?) to take with them like on Desert Island Discs. Desert could also be about being deserted by someone whether briefly or permanently, or deserting from a role, like in a war.

As per usual, you’re welcome to create for any of our previous prompts as well!

We will reblog any polyam-positive fanworks featuring polyamorous ships of any configuration/type from any fandom. All ratings are welcome but anything nsfw/triggery should be warned for and behind a read more, as should very long tumblr fic.

You can also submit works directly to the blog or send us asks to let us know to check your blog for a post. If you’re posting on AO3, our collection name is ‘PolyamShippingDay‘ and you can post to the collection here. Only fanworks submitted/@ us on tumblr or in the official AO3 collection, or fanworks posted to our Dreamwidth community, are guaranteed to be included in our roundup. Hello hello hello! It is so lovely to be posting this very exciting event! Us head mods have done some plotting, and wanted to open up some fun to the community!

We have made a disability bingo, as you can see by the images on this post. There are 25 total prompts and we will have some prizes as well! Minimum requirement is a complete sketch, or 500 words, per prompt.

~ For a bingo: you will get to pick from one of at least 6 mini emote packs! (There may be more!)

~ For a blackout: You will get ALL of the emotes!

BONUS: For the first five people to complete a blackout that is either at least line art, or a minimum of ~1000 (± 75) words per piece you will get a free digital copy of the zine when it releases next year!
