Shannon Rutherford is among the very last Lost characters I expected to relate to. She's a beautiful, 'in crowd' Mean Girl. I'm a somewhat below average looking, awkward nerd. She's a talented dancer. If I can make it across the street without tripping over my own feet at least two or three times, I consider it a victory. Her abandonment issues lead her to latch on to men even/especially when they're clearly the wrong guys. I'm more of a loner who doesn't end up getting into relationships even when I DO really like the person in question and think he's a good man, let alone when I don't.

an important thing to know about jack shephard is that he isn't "good" just because he was made that way, he isn't "acting good" because he thinks he's better than other people, he is fighting tooth and nail to BE good because he doesn't think he is. He has a dad who wasn't good because he didn't TRY and Jack'll be damned if he turns out the same way. And because his dad wasn't good and rarely acknowledged that his son was worth loving for his own sake and not just his accomplishments (which Christian tied closely to his own contributions, no less), he's also dealing with significant self-worth problems that he can't shake. He's overcompensating because he wants to be worthy of love.
