But I saw a comment on one of the girl group’s videos that went along the lines of “what’s up with all the lesbian queer baiting in kpop recently, first Irene and Seulgi, now this...” and it made me very confused.

I can’t speak for any other group/video/song, because I know very close to nothing about those, but I do not believe Irene and Seulgi’s MV “Monster” is queer baiting.

The MV, the lyrics of the song, even the dance - all seem to suggest “Seulgi” is seducing “Irene”.

Now, it would be queer baiting if SM and the girls said something like “oh, the song is about two best friends writing letters to each other and wanting to get to each other beds and into each other dreams because they are such good friends!!!! How nice, right?”

But when asked, the girls said the song is about “Seulgi” seducing “Irene”. So, it’s literally about what it seems to be about.

It’s not queer baiting, lads.
