speaking of: i met someone with a sleep apnea machine and, according to them, itās āWi-Fi enabledā and automatically reports their sleeping habits in real-time to their insurance company. it was an expensive machine so the company agreed to let them use it with certain conditions. so theyāre required to be at home and asleep/attached to the machine for a minimum of 4 or 5 hours each night. you canāt get up at night to make tea or go read in the living room or something. this person emphasized that even if you have work to do, or arenāt tired, or would rather stay up late and sleep in tomorrow, it doesnāt matter: you must be attached for a minimum number of hours in a designated window of time. something like aĀ āthree strikesā rule was in effect: fail to be in bed more than three times without a monthās prior notice, you lose your machine. they told me how their car had a problem while they were traveling and doing networking/work-related stuff, and had to spend the night in a motel or something. the machine recorded that they were absent from their bed that night, and the insurance company sent someone to take the machine away from them a few days later.
I want you guys to understand how fucking important a sleep apnea machine is. Sleep apnea is a very common condition, so a lot of people write it off as just āsnoringā. Sleep apnea is not just snoring. Sleep apnea is when you stop breathing during sleep. So this insurance company has decided, that if you are not attached to this machine at certain periods of time, you should lose the ability to breathe while you sleep. Theyāve decided that the price of breathing while asleep, is constant fucking surveillance. WHILE YOU ARE ASLEEP.
Go buy a CPAP off of ebay. I did this when my husbandās got wrecked.
Before you do, check youtube for guides on how to put your prescription in to make sure someone else has figured it out (unless you enjoy that kind of puzzle).
The doctor has to give you your medical records and the recommended pressure should be in there. The doctor wonāt care that you got the CPAP yourself, only that youāre using it.
There are also software packages out there to let you look at your own numbers. Iāve got one called SleepyHead, but I think itās abandonwear. I used this to get my husbandās prescription off the sd card because he canāt afford to go to the sleep doctor anymore, and his sleep test was so long ago the doctor didnāt have it anymore.
If ppl need to know more, you can always ask me questions. Iām not an expert but I have learned a lot while trying to fix the old one and then set up my husbandās new machine.
Itās shitty that the insurance companies do this and I hate them too, but sleep apnea causes heart disease. Donāt let them kill you if you can avoid it.

Gotta laugh to keep from crying. Iāve gotten a 5 cent raise and it sucked. I got a 3 dollar raise last year after having been at my job for 5 years then received a 67 cent raise a couple months after. Retail and food service industry folk work so damn hard and have to kiss so much ass of entitled people.
I worked retail. I was getting $0.25 raises when they were telling people they were only allowed to give $0.10 max. Know what I was doing? Working so hard that my body hasnāt felt okay since, and I stopped working retail almost 15 years back. Doctors tell me āPain is part of getting older, youāll get used to it.ā and kick me out as soon as they hear I used to work retail. Nobody wants to work on my shoulder or give me help with pain management, I canāt even get a referral to a physical therapist. Donāt work that hard, theyāll work you as hard as youāll work and as long as you donāt cost them money theyāll keep you around.
