he’s definitely one of the most memorable champions.. definitely aided by the fact he was the first LOL

i planned on making more art for this ask but that just hasn't happened and this is still on my mind soooo ill share some more about her design process and some other doodles i've made in the past for her!

This was my entire process for Zipp start to finish! The first two were mostly about establishing the vibe i wanted for her while I researched the real horse's life. I was thinking something susie deltarune-ish and I really wanted to lean into how mean Zippy Chippy (horse) was described to be. That bled into my first design for Zip (uma)! I tried to make her look really punkish with her leather jacket, ripped stockings, and jewelry. I added a baseball jersey as well to reference Zippy's (horse) races against baseball stars. Buuuuuuut it really didnt click for me, nor did it feel like the horse I wanted to represent! I watched this news clip about Zip (horse) and his trainer and owner and was really inspired by the way Monserrate spoke about Zippy! I wanted to portray the uma as like sarcastic and mean and a more rough around the edges! ... I also messed up the jockey silk colors so I dropped the red.

Thats how I got to the current design for Zippy Chippy I have now! Zippy Chippy was known as a loveable loser and I think her current form really represents that!

poor cropping on tumblrs part, I apologize BUT i've drawn her a casual outfit and i think shes veeeeery cute. She feels a lot more like an uma I'd see as an idol! I love Zippy Chippy's career and the feelings he inspired in others! I really recommend watching that news clip.
