Making a promise now: I'm back in 2026.
Finishing this second block of 365 days.
Let's all pretend there was no hiatus, k?
Year 2. Day 117.
The hot and lazy continues.
Year 2. Day 116.
Trying to draw a butter tart, realizing that I still don't have the proper skill (and maybe tools, this time) to draw one properly.
But you know the mission statement for this project. Instead of starting over, I am, shall we say, indulging in my self-defeat. It doesn't have to be good. It just has to be done, and I invite you all to come.
I'll never be good at drawing anything until after I'm bad at drawing everything.
(Butter tarts are, for the record, good.)
Year 2. Day 115.
If I say "Canada Day" and you don't think "Olympic gold medal breakdancer", well, I dunno where you were yesterday afternoon but it sure wasn't Queen's Park.
(Bonus product review: Dollarama sells artist's dummies, and they're awful. If Dollarama paid you $50 to take one, you would be the getting ripped off.)

Year 2. Day 114.
Just had to get some hexagons out. (Also I had a little bit of drinky.)
My goal for the rest of the week will be getting back to Oh Inky, You Really Thought You Could Draw That?, Aw, Bless Your Heart.
Year 2. Day 113. Back at it. The heat defeated me but it did not destroy me. It's day 113. Roll with it.
A simple little self portrait.
Okay, yeah, the heat is cooking me from the inside out. I'm taking a break until at least Wednesday.
Year 2. Day 112.
Two minute challenge, honestly, because it's about 30 Celsius in this apartment. I am not kidding when I say that this little draw is about all I can manage.

Year 2. Day 111.
Yeah, I'm a few days behind.
Cut me some slack, it's my birthday.
(It really is.)

I swear to god, commission spammers do more to destroy my desire to post draws than everything else in the world combined.
Year 2. Day 110.
Y'all are so lucky I didn't decide to do a podcast.
Year 2. Day 109.
I was out at an improv show tonight, and afterward chatting with a friend the subject of dragons came up.
I can't really describe how we started with "dragon" and stopped at "Scales and Tie would be a good name for a nightclub" on our way to "there should be an entire improv team wearing dragon costumes and doing serious drama".
I just know that it was, every step of the way, absolutely correct.
Year 2. Day 108.
Taco cat
A cat that is a taco
He is so tired from a day of being the best taco cat he can.
Year 2. Day 107.
The Gibraltar Point Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse anywhere on the Great Lakes, and one of the oldest buildings in Toronto. It was first erected on the Toronto Islands Mainland in 1808, and like all great lighthouses it is haunted by the ghost of a 1815 murder victim.
(Yes, I said all great lighthouses. Any lighthouse that is not haunted by the ghost of a 1815 murder victim is worthless.)
And yes, I did mean the Toronto mainland. The Islands are, well, a recent invention. The sandbars that used to be there were destroyed by storms in 1858, and ever since the islands have stood alone, reachable only by ferry or water taxi.
It turned out to be for the best overall, because now the Islands are parkland that feels like no other park in the city. You get there and everything that makes the city noisy is across a channel, distant.
Also there is a petting zoo.
Anyway, the next time you're on the islands, check out the lighthouse. It might not be in service anymore, but it's still tall and beautiful.
And haunted.

Year 2. Day 106.
I love the Islands, and my trip there has given me hope that I'm gonna get all the way caught up.
This little guy helped a lot. If you can do it, so can I.
Year 2. Day 105.
Yep, still can't draw the human figure.
I seriously love Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? in every single incarnation. Video game, retro game show, Netflix animated series. I am, in fact, genetically structured to love anything where people regularly stop talking like human beings and start info dumping.
Carmen: I have some deep-seated trauma that I'm trying to process, Player, and I think-- Player: No time for that, Carmen, we've got a lead that VILE is trying to steal the entire Royal Ontario Museum, including the famous and striking Michael Lee-Chin Crystal wing. Carmen: That's the largest museum in Canada! It's in the middle of Toronto, the capital of Ontario. Player: And while you're there be sure to visit the CN Tower, the tallest free-standing structure in North America! Anyway, you were saying something about trauma? Carmen: Maybe another time, Player. Maybe another time.
Seriously, you cannot even begin to imagine how much I love this sort of thing.
