  Dead, dead, dead, dead, dead, dead.

It echoes in her mind, drowning out all other thoughts, all other sounds, despite the chaos that surrounds her as people are attacked by strange creatures that look almost like living graffiti and disappearing in a blur of what she can only describe as static. When she'd woken here, it had been with a strange, inherent knowledge that this is some sort of game, that she needed to find a partner to survive it, that winning would let her come back to life. Back to life. As in not currently living. As in—

  Dead, dead, dead, dead, dead, dead.

  She grips onto the little plush Chat Noir in her arms. A gift for Manon—she so admired the ones Marinette had made for herself—but absent its spotted partner. That was the other thing she'd known upon waking: a fee had been taken. No earrings at her ears, no Tikki in her purse. Not even the little plush companion to the one her arms.

Ladybug is gone. Gone, gone, gone. Taken.

  Panic rises in her chest. How is she supposed to do this without Ladybug? I'm nothing without her. I can't do this alone. She needs someone, anyone. That's the first step: a partner. Her head whips around rapidly, eyes searching frantically through the crowd of people making pacts and fighting.

A flash of blond on the other side of the fray catches her eye and gasps. Chat Noir! Her stomach drops like it's filled with lead. If he's here, that means... She takes off and as soon as she gets close enough to see that she was mistaken, she's filled with dread. Because what could possibly be worse than Chat Noir being dead than—

It's still an adjustment. Questions which only spark even more questions whenever he feels close enough to getting an answer of some sort. What happened? He thinks. How did he get here? Did it even matter how versus the fact that he simply was? Past tense. Dead. Adrien had died and now he'd found himself in some game with needing to find a partner or risk...what did they call it again? Erasure?

How he wishes he could spring into action and call for Plagg when he notices the creatures taking on the town and others fighting for their....life?? Afterlife??? It's still something he's trying to figure out. Searching around and trying to reach for someone only to find that he keeps going right through them.

Those not part of the game apparently cannot see or hear them? Where was....shoot....what was her name? A long lost partner he draws a blank towards? Another unanswered question. Had he been a lone hero? Was someone by his side?

Just as he's about to make his way to the next spot to try and find safety, he feels himself grabbed and it's the first breath of fresh air he feels he's felt.

That is until her familiar voice rings against his ears and he's finally looking over his shoulders to see it's her. " Marinette?! " He doesn't even think about tugging away and instead shakes his head. " Pact? No! Nobody - I'm still figuring out what's going on what are you - "

If he had died to get here...did that mean Marinette suffered a similar fate?

Gabe hadn't been to his home in quite some time, but there was something different about the home his prime universe counterpart owned. It was strange, stepping into it-- but he needed a spare pair of glasses-- and clothes. Surely his counterpart wouldn't mind. He seemed independently wealthy-- a far cry from the humble beginnings they shared.

He slipped in through the window, silent as a thief. For truthfully he was one. Underneath his Miraculoused heroic appearance his clothes were far worse for the wear.

The fine layer of dust on everything went unnoticed as he opened the door to the closet, walking in and making himself at home.

"Terrible taste. Is this what passes for fashion here?" He muttered under his breath as he trolled through suit after suit-- none of which seemed to suit him.

He didn't have the best relationship with his father. One could call it a complicated dynamic at best. Maybe. Even to this day he's still trying to comprehend and figure out exactly what's happened. Trying to adjust to his newfound life without his father hadn't exactly been the smoothest transition.

But one which needed to happen all the same.

The battle alongside Ladybug, the fight which revealed who his father had been and why he'd been doing it to begin with. It still haunts him to this day. Plagues him with thoughts of what-ifs and could have been if only he'd been more observant to what had been taking place in his own home.

Now his father is a lost song to the breeze in the aftermath of the event, the ache in not revealing his deeds to the world something he and his partner agreed upon.

The estate alone feels like a haunted house that he finds himself sneaking away into. Looking around and taking in the familiar sights until a strange sound of someone in another room catches him off guard.

Bracing for potential impact on his way until he manages to locate the source of the problem. His heart beats something hard and anxious against his chest when green eyes take notice to who it was. He watches him from his spot -- it's as if he's seen a ghost. One who continues to haunt him to his day.

" This can't....what? "

He shouldn't have made a sound to begin with. He knew better.

It takes him a minute before he starts to laugh from the pun. The interruption caught him off guard before he's quick on his feet. " How Pawesome! "
