Rant Time (again) TLB: Musical & Slime Tutorials AKA Bootleg recordings

I don't care if this gets people angry, but when I see blogs promoting the sale of bootlegged recordings of the musical (the entire musical!) I get angry too. Short snippets of some scenes, GIFs, photos are totally fine, just as is fanart and self-made merch (though selling those is an IP grey area and depending on where you live it might be either totally fine or completely illegal. And depending on the original IP holder of course.) However, to film an entire production and then going around selling it without their consent, is pretty much theft imo. The former is basically promotional material for the production, gets people interested and shows the fans' love for the musical. People show their creativity and love through fanart, they produce something unique based on the source material. The latter is a money grab and might even discourage people from going to see the musical in person, because they have already seen it online. Also, most of the time the quality is below average, and there is no creativity behind it. It's a one to one rip-off... I understand that some people won't be able to see the musical in person due to financial or other restrictions, but this doesn't make it okay to buy an unauthorized recording (or even commission it!), and basically taking away income from the actual production. The Lost Boys will sure as hell make their own high quality recording in their own time, seeing as they are already working on the cast album and are looking into bringing the musical to the West End in London. So please, if you are a fan or care about art and artists getting their due, do not buy those recordings... you're not supporting the musical with it. And before someone gets their pitchforks and torches to come for me, please understand, this is MY PERSONAL OPINION. You don't have to agree with it, you might even bring valid arguments, that I haven't thought off, and this is fine, good even! I get angry about this topic, because I care and I see how much theatre and art in general is struggling to get enough financial support as it is. P.S.: I have been stressing about the logistics of merchandising / selling my own fanart lately, because I feel like I don't deserve to take money for an IP that I don't own. I will have a more thorough dive into copyright law to see how best to proceed. THIS IS NOT TO SAY THAT I DISCOURAGE PEOPLE TO SELL THEIR FANART. IT IS STILL ART AND CREATION.

The two Davids using different seduction techniques to get Michael.

I always hc OG David as very particular about showing skin, as his clothes are his armor and he's a bit old-fashioned. So showing a naked hand to Michael is to him equivalent to showing off a naked ankle in Victorian times xD

Musical David, on the other hand, is very much aware of his assets and their effect on people. Thus, he has no problem with overloading poor Michael's brain with those pecks to get what he wants.

Me, I would fall for both tactics and then contemplate my life choices... As did poor Star.

No matter which version though, David's brothers are his biggest cheerleaders and best wingmen :)
