I can already see mark being composer, solo rapper who has lots of collabs, osts, taeyong as model who join fashion shows, doyoung as solo singer who will make his own concerts, jaehyun as actor(?), brand model
You want to say Doyoung was born with his silver voice, Jaehyun with sharp cheeks, Taeyong with dancing skills? No, anon, SM selects potentials and watches from the side what sprouts will grow the tallest and the greenest. Only then it comes with fertilisers and trimming scissors. Initial plans are always corrected along the way. Taeyongâs dancing teacher said that Tae was hopeless, Tae proved him wrong. Doyoung was âthe funny oneâ and âchurch oppaâ, he sculpted himself into a model and one of the main visuals of the group. Jaehyun has to work out and diet to keep himself in shape, he also works a lot on his vocals. Mark could be in three units, because he was able to remember all the dance routines, lyrics and had the crazy energy to do everything at once.Â
Taeil got an OST before NCT debut. And he sang it very well, he was already a skilled singer back then. He, not Doyoung, was chosen as the main vocal for 127 (Do and Taeil were always rivals during trainee days, Do mentioned it once, every week trainees were evaluated), he got a very nice make over for Firetrack era. Unfortunetely, Taeilâs âonly talentâ is to sing. He canât do variety, he is not a good talker, he is the weakest dancer in NCT, he is too ânormally Koreanâ to be a visual in Korean eyes, etc. His voice is too good for him not to go solo eventually, but SM doesnât push him in any other directions. I think musicals will suit him in the future. Seems like his type of fun. Many idols play roles in them.
Jaehyun would probably be pushed towards acting, yes. Cheesy roles in romcoms.
Many fans naively think that companies owe their idols fullfilment of their dreams, equal opportunities and fare treatment - communism on stage. Thatâs not how show business works. Yes, there are small companies whose owners want to produce good music. There are also talented people, who work for big companies, who also live to create art. But thatâs secondary and unnesessary. SMâs shareholders do not care about music, they only care about profit. And money would be invested in the most promising, most talented, most popular.Â
Could you really imagine Jungwoo as a solo artist? Yuta? Itâs not even about their voices, they lack the ability to hypnotise an auditorium on their own, they need moral support of other members. They can change, then SM would re-evaluate their potential profitability again.Â
Another thing fans donât get is that NCT members already live their dream. All of them. They are already winners, who left thousands of wannabes behind their back. They made it, they debuted, they are a part of a globally successfull group, they travel the world (Wooâs first flight was to US last summer), they meet celebreties, they perform before thousands of fans and each of them has their own fanbase, who is ready to cheer them on.  And sometimes they forget it, but then reality reminds them about it and they are very greatful for what they have. This dream might (scratch that, will) end and the smartest prepare fot the future, but right now nobody is rotting, they all work hard. Some are just harder than others. Â
