Nara Shikamaru

Shikamaru watches the way her expression softens. His eyes drop briefly to where her hand rest. Not her stomach but those tendrils protecting her womb. He’s heard about the incidents. Fortunately for them both, he has no interest in getting close to her. “A few weeks, huh..” He isn’t new to this. Or clueless. He kept an eye on Kurenai through her pregnancy. Well… he was by her side through it all just as his late sensei entrusted him. 

“Kids?” A beat. “Nah.” A lie. This is him convincing himself. Truth is, being around Mirai made him want a child of his own. Just… not in the sense of duty. If he ever gets married and have kids, he wants it to be a product of love. Not for the sake of the clan and expectations.  Anyway…

"Yes and the doctor says he's healthy! Which makes me so happy!" Anna beamed, looking up at her companion. "I get it. Everyone's different. I wasn't sure I wanted kids, but then I got pregnant and all of that changed."

Shikamaru is far enough from the noise. It thins out into nothing but the occasional breeze and distant chatter. Finally. A cigarette settles between his lips like second nature. He flicks his lighter once. Twice. 

Then a voice. 

“…Yeah, That’s my luck.” 

He stills for half a second, lighter hovering just shy of the tip before he lets his hand drop. His gaze drifts towards the source, unbothered on the surface, but sharp enough underneath to take it all in. What he notices first is the way she’s facing him without locking eyes. The pages on the book embossed with what appears to be dots. The cane. 

Something clicks. 

He’s heard about her through the other students. Whispers passed around in those conversations when people have nothing better to do. 

The blind girl from a wealthy family. 

She takes her bookmark and places it inside the book. Reina closes up the book and lets it sit atop her lap. Clasping her hands together, she places them on top of her book.

"I'm sorry. Did I steal your spot? I wanted to sit here, so I could hear the sounds of the leaves rustling in the wind while I read." she explained. Plus it was a lot more secluded out here and she didn't have to worry about people bothering her.

“You’re good. The spot doesn’t belong to anyone.” Shikamaru glances up through the branches overhead. The leaves shift with the breeze. He can hear what she means now that she’s pointed it out. He never really paid attention to it before. “Hm?” He eyes her again when she brings up smoking. “You have some good ears.” No shit. The Nara pockets the lighter instead of trying again. His cigarette is tucked away as well. If he went through with it, it’d just feel like he’s bullying her out of this spot. Something like that will never sit right with him. 

“A great leader never refers to themselves as a great leader.” The cigarette bounces between his lips with each word. “You’re further ahead than you think.” She may not have sought him out for comfort but he gave it anyway. To help her settle her foot on these new grounds. And when she’s ready, the other will follow. 

Shikamaru takes another drag from the cigarette. Pondering her next question. Considering its weight. Hell, he’s not even sure how to answer that as he’s unaware of his own coping mechanisms. 

“No,”  he  tells  him,  truthfully.   “I  wouldn't  tell  a  soul  about  it.”   He  didn't  have  anyone  to  tell,  save  a  few  dying  plants  on  his  windowsill,  maybe  an  unfinished  book.   An  old  timer  through  and  through,  these  kids  today  had  a  different  sense  of  bonds  and  the  sanctity  of  them;  it  almost  made  him  jealous.  Who  would  he  have  been  with  stronger  bonds?   What  would  his  village  look  like  now  for  them? 

The easiest part in all this is asking Baki for his opinion. Not only because of his decades of experience, but for the simple fact that they aren’t close. They’re not even considered friends. Which hopefully means there’s no biases.

X - X Ray: What's going on under your muse's clothes? Do they have any special scars or places they like to be touched or avoided? Describe their physique and anything else you'd like to expand on.

Y - Yes: Do they have any specific turn ons? Things that will automatically make your muse say yes to sleeping with someone else. If not what are some other things that get them in a more romantic mood? Lighting? Dinner?

you're finding you place in the clan and the change overall is quite welcome cause at your new home no one seems to care about what you do, the Nara's are quite welcoming and aren't really involving themselves with you and your new husband's relationship. the thing is shikamaru is not really detached, he is fighting with all his might to not pound into you cause he gets what a horrible and archaic arrangement this is but it's getting increasingly difficult the longer he gets to spend time with you, and to be quiet honest he would have draped your legs over his shoulders on your first night together if he hadn't been worried about scaring you off.
