welcome to finnington! famed for its nectar, its music scene, and a rich local history of things catching fire, blowing up, or singing when they shouldn't. half the wharf burned down once, but it's been rebuilt better than ever! the waterfall's alleged madness-inducing melody remains unconfirmed, and ever since a certain scientist's experiment leveled the old town, there's been a tree in the square that nobody wants to talk about. sure, one mayor held office for a suspiciously long time, but that's all behind us now. new residents arrive every day, chasing their dreams. there's never been a better time to move in!
this is a save file for armiel's beautiful finnington, which you can download here.
my version of finnington comes populated with every townie having their unique skills, jobs and relationships based on their personalities. there is also a little tomb puzzle that requires exploring the town a bit.

all expansion packs are required. this is a save file, not a world file, so the game won't open it if you're missing any EPs.
no stuff packs are required. (i own outdoor living, high-end loft, fast lane, town life and master suite stuff, but the save should open fine without them.)

these are for the townies, but the save works fine without them, so they can be safely skipped.

this is a save file, so you'll need armiel's finnington world installed first. download it here. if you skip this step, the save file won’t work in your game.
once you download and unzip "finnington_xoelands", you'll see "Finnington_xoelands.sims3" and a "cc" folder inside
copy "Finnington_xoelands.sims3" to: Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves
everything in the cc folder goes to: Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages
i've been playtesting this save for a while. my game never lags unless i have the wild horse issue (explained under the cut). some slowness in the first few in-game hours of the day is normal, since that's when the game assigns NPCs and such. it usually clears up around the time the university mascot shows up at your door.

if you want to use this version of finnington in a pre-existing save file (for example in your legacy) with nraas traveler mod, simply follow these steps:
open the "Finnington_xoelands.sims3" folder and copy "Finnington_0x00000000.nhd"
go to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves and open the .sims3 folder of the save you're currently playing
paste "Finnington_0x00000000.nhd" inside that folder (back up your save first, just in case!)
next time you’re going to travel somewhere in the game with the traveler mod, you should be able to visit this version of finnington!
recommended mods:
nraas master controller
there’s not much to say about this one. i usually reset the town every 2-3 sim weeks for smoother gameplay.
nraas register
i highly suggest preventing the game from spawning any stray/wild animals or tourists:
city hall (or any computer) -> nraas -> register -> animal control -> set everything to 0.
city hall (or any computer) -> nraas -> register -> tourists -> allow tourists -> false
nraas go here
it’s better to disable boat routing all together just in case.
city hall (or any computer) -> nraas -> go here -> allow boat routing -> false
additional entry and exit routing slots
so your sims don't get stuck in front of the school building.
known issues and fixes
1- carpools and school buses can't reach the outer ring of old town finnington. this is a routing issue i can't fix without the caw file, but there's an easy workaround: nraas traffic makes sims take taxis instead, and taxis can route there.
to set it up, go to city hall (or any computer) -> nraas -> traffic -> routing and set the last two options to true.
to stop the game from spawning tons of empty taxis, also set city hall (or any computer) -> nraas -> traffic -> traffic delta to -1000 or -2000.
2- even with nraas register's animal control set to 0, the game still manages to spawn a wild horse from time to time. whenever my game starts lagging or stuttering, this one wild horse is always the culprit. luckily it's an easy fix:
go to city hall (or any computer) -> nraas -> master controller -> sim -> focus -> species -> horse
from there you can decide what to do with it. i usually go with force kill -> old age

* i don’t know what took me this long after it was actually %99 finished. probably because it took so much of my time, i got lost interest in it at some point
* but i did a lot of cc shopping, did a lot of luminia gameplay and started building in brynmar, so i had time to miss finnington again lol
life update:
* adopted a kitten!!!! everything about oranges sharing one brain cell is %100 true. she isn’t even a fully orange cat, she just have some orange spots on her fur, but she is so stupid. my previous cat was nowhere near like this kitten, so i feel like i’m a first time cat owner
* currently in the middle of job hunting, wish me luck 😔

hiiii anon!! thank you so much for finding my pictures beautiful but the thing is, i’m actually manually editing all my pics 😅 my pc rn isn’t that great shape, and since i can’t afford for an upgrade and also for my peace of mind i’m using photoshop + lightroom for all my edits.
if you’re still interested, this is the action i use, and i usually follow it with some color adjustments, then run topaz clean to get it smoother. i play with the depth of field in lightroom, and it’s also where i add the grain effect but it’s pretty much possible to do all those in ps as well, just takes more time.

and let’s hope he can find someone because i couldn’t……. through the matchmaking service i made him meet an alien sim but that didn’t work out at all 😭 his loner and socially awkward traits are not helping
this is so funny because i was already considering doing hix completionist challenge with another version of teo, then somehow a fire started at his home while he was away???? bonehilda saved the day???? half of the town already holds grudge against him because of his family, so what if this wasn’t coincidence!!!!! what if someone set his house on fire on purpose!!!!
the minutes before i got the notification i was trying to understand what these all people wanted from that poor woman and why they all gathered there, then the fire happened!!!!
also, i’ll be so happy if SP stops breaking up my fav couples 😭 rene and fray is no longer together 💔 lara and bilge too 💔 it made some other questionable matchmaking choices like why would you pair my beautiful cindy with the guy who is about the die with no money at all 😭
fray and cosmos the matchmaker reunites again after a very long time 🥳
and while fray is still at de silva’s, rene finally get to enjoy the view from his room. it was his first time inviting any of his partners over so that window remained useless for years

while working on the non itf and showtime version of finnington, i’ve noticed how much i depended on showtime furnitures. i tend to like showtime careers but i kinda see why not many is interested in it too. wish ea put more content in the gameplay
