This marks the end of everything. Thank you very much!
Pei Su just described LWZ's place to his mom 😂😂😂
Frying pan (Yugio) in the novel is fat, so this is clearly just the same cat 😂
So Pei Su just told his mom that he is going to be living with LWZ 😂
And Pei Su's little naughty/shy grin at the end:
(eng) JITD ep13
I was resyncing the srt to another source and notice some errors. A few parts I used novel/script's name instead of drama's names so I have reuploaded ep 9.
Freaking love EP13, but seems like some of the script were omitted or cut out from airing 🙃
Probably from ep 14 onwards I'll move to mega
As usual, wait for the subbing team for better sub and better video quality.

Getting kidnapped is better - Shen Yi sick and whump fic
@i-am-hoper Your request
Shen Yi dressed warmly and got on his bicycle, pedaling towards the station as usual. The early morning air was biting, colder than usual, and he could physically feel as the temperature seemed to suddenly drop even further as he rode.
Despite his layers, the chill crept in, making his muscles stiff and achy. He gritted his teeth and pedaled harder, hoping to get inside quickly.
By the time he arrived, his body was trembling, and the ache in his muscles was impossible to ignore.
He pushed the bicycle into the rack, locked it, and hurried into the building, muttering that they should have personal heaters in the office.
Inside the station, Shen Yi rushed past Du Cheng with a quick, audible, “Good morning.” He headed straight for his office, aiming for warmth and the comfort of a hot drink.
Du Cheng, holding a stack of papers, raised an eyebrow. “What’s with all the rushing? Didn’t even look at me when he said good morning.” His thought process gradually turned from questioning to sulking real quick.
Shen Yi’s hurried steps and stiff movements didn’t go unnoticed as well. Curious, Du Cheng followed him down the hallway and stopped at the door.
From the doorway, he observed Shen Yi whose back was turned to him. He was rubbing his arms roughly, trying to warm himself up, shifting from foot to foot.
His gaze was locked on the kettle, as if it would boil faster if he kept staring at it.
Must’ve rode his bike today as well. No wonder he’s like this, Du Cheng thought. He sighed, shook his head, and turned back toward Li Han’s desk to drop off the papers he had been carrying.
The kettle clicked off, signaling the water was ready. Shen Yi quickly poured some into a cup, added cold water to cool it just enough, and drank it down in a single go.
He let out a quiet sigh of relief as the heat began to spread through his body.
His already aching shoulders relaxed slightly as he made himself a proper cup of coffee and turned to sit at his desk.
He noticed something unusual.
There was a jacket folded neatly on his desk, one he didn’t recognize.
Shen Yi picked it up and glanced outside the door, but no one was nearby. He couldn’t recall seeing anyone else wear this jacket before, but right now, he was too cold to care.
He wore it (completely drowned in it as it was too big) and sank into his chair, curling his knees up to his chest. He didn’t care if it wasn’t exactly office decorum; he needed to warm up.
He cradled the hot coffee in his hands, sipping slowly. The warmth seeped into his body, but the stiffness in his muscles refused to go away. His shoulders began to throb with a dull ache.
Should have taken a cab. Definitely going to get a headache as well. Shen Yi frowned. He stretched his arms out, hoping to ease the tension, but it only made the pain sharper. Since he rode the bike he knows how it gets when it is too cold.
The typical pain in the shoulder running from the neck to down and then will come the headache that usually goes away when he is warm enough or worst case with a single tablet of painkillers.
‘Huh…it usually feels better when I do that. Maybe my body isn’t warmed enough yet.’ The thought lingered uneasily in his mind.
After a few minutes, Shen Yi had dozed off in his chair, the warmth of the oversized jacket lulling him into an unplanned nap. A sudden knock at the door startled him awake. He blinked a few times, disoriented, as Li Han stepped into the office.
“Didn’t sleep well yesterday laoshi?” she asked, her tone both concerned and teasing.
Shen Yi offered a small, tired smile. “Not really. Just too cold this morning.”
Li Han nodded knowingly as she added, “The team meeting is starting in 15 minutes.” She left, leaving the door slightly ajar.
Shen Yi stretched, his movements sluggish. He put his feet back on the ground, mentally facepalming as he realized that he spoke with Li Han curled on the chair.
The moment he got up, the world tilted, he sat back down and he closed his eyes for a while taking a deep breath.
Wow…that’s new? He blamed the lingering cold and stood up again, though his legs felt like they were dragging weights. He rubbed his eyes in an attempt to clear remnants of the haziness, then shuffled toward the meeting room.
Inside the meeting room, Du Cheng’s sharp eyes caught Shen Yi walking in, wearing ‘HIS’ too-big jacket swallowing his frame.
He knew it was going to be too big for him but actually it made him look like a kid who had raided his father’s wardrobe.
Du Cheng couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
“What’s so funny?” Jiang Feng whispered, noticing the rare smile on Du Cheng’s face.
Du Cheng quickly wiped the smile away, his expression returning to its usual seriousness. “Nothing. Let’s start the meeting.”
Shen Yi slid into a chair, keeping quiet as the discussion went on.
Strangely he found it so hard to pay attention to the meeting. He tried to concentrate, but the words from his colleagues blurred together.
Is this cold making me sluggish? he wondered, shaking his head slightly.
When it was his turn, he managed a brief update, promising to complete the sketch by the evening and mentioning his need to revisit the crime scene the next day.
“I’ll take you,” Du Cheng said without hesitation. Shen Yi nodded with a small smile in appreciation.
Du Cheng's eyes flicked to Shen Yi’s shoulders, noticing the subtle winces as he kept rolling them from time to time.
He’s in pain? Du Cheng thought, taking a mental note to keep an eye on him.
As the meeting concluded, Shen Yi stood up, only to stumble forward as he took a step and crashed to the ground. The room froze for a moment before Du Cheng rushed to his side.
He just sat there as he crashed, frozen, too confused to think about getting up.
“Are you okay?” Du Cheng crouched next to him, his voice firm but concerned.
Shen Yi’s face was pale as he muttered, “My feet…I think they’re numb.”
Du Cheng helped him sit back in his chair.
As the feeling started to return to Shen Yi’s feet, sharp, electric pains shot through them, causing him to yelp.
He buried his face in his folded arms on the table, trying to muffle his discomfort.
“This is why your legs should be on the floor, relaxed,” Du Cheng huffed. “Not cramped up on the chair like that.”
Shen Yi’s ears burned with embarrassment.
‘He saw me curled up earlier.’ Without lifting his head, he gave Du Cheng a thumbs-up, shyly acknowledging the scolding.
‘I know it’s unprofessional, but I was cold, his mind whined defensively.
Once the pins and needles subsided, Shen Yi carefully stood and made his way to the interrogation room, where Du Cheng was waiting for him.
Sitting behind the one-way mirror, Shen Yi observed the new suspect of the other case they were handling.
As always, he let the man’s gestures, expressions, and posture guide his sketching. He listened closely to the questioning, his pencil gliding across the paper.
But today, his focus wavered too much for his liking.
His thoughts still felt sluggish, and his chest felt unnervingly heavy.
‘Please, not now. I can’t be getting sick’, Shen Yi thought, gripping the pencil tighter.
He pushed through the discomfort, determined to finish the sketch.
But then it hit him.
A sharp, burning pain shot through his arm, forcing him to drop the pencil.
He gasped softly, clutching his forearm staring at it. Before even he could think, the pain spread to his chest, stealing his breath for a moment.
He froze, panic bubbling beneath the surface.
And just as suddenly as it came, the pain dulled, leaving behind a lingering ache. Shen Yi slumped back, chest heaving, and his hand trembling slightly.
What on earth was that? he thought, trying to steady his breathing.
He glanced at the incomplete sketch, grabbed his phone to make an appointment with a doctor, mentioned his symptoms, and took the sketch focusing back on the suspect. ‘Guess I’ll go to the doctor tomorrow, after the crime scene visit.’
Shen Yi finished the sketch, his pencil capturing every detail he’d observed in the suspect’s behavior and expressions.
Then he worked on the main case they were having the meeting for and finalized the potential killer’s sketch as promised.
The team ran it through the database, but no match came up. Du Cheng’s frown deepened as he stared at the results on the screen.
“It looks like we’ll have to start a manual search tomorrow,” Du Cheng said firmly. “Send this sketch to the media. We need it reported on the news as soon as possible. This criminal is dangerous. We need to catch him before he kills again.”
He continued listening as Du Cheng assigned tasks to each member of the team, outlining a thorough plan for the next steps.
Once the meeting ended, Shen Yi stood and walked out, rolling his shoulders to ease the tension that had now spread to his upper back.
He winced, his hand instinctively clutching at the stiff muscles.
“Shen Yi!” Du Cheng called after him.
Shen Yi stopped and turned, quickly letting his hand drop to his side.
“I’ll give you a ride,” Du Cheng said, his tone leaving no room for argument. “It might snow.”
Shen Yi nodded and headed to grab his bag.
By the time he stepped outside, the cold air wrapped around him like an icy grip.
The dull ache that had been plaguing him all day sharpened, spreading through his body like a relentless wave.
‘Great. Definitely going to drown in painkillers tonight’, he thought bitterly.
He hurried to the car, sliding into the passenger seat before Du Cheng could even get in. The warmth of the interior was so comfortable compared to the freezing air outside.
Du Cheng got in and turned on the heater. “Didn’t know you hated the cold this much,” he said, glancing at Shen Yi who had already buckled up.
Shen Yi leaned back, letting the heater’s warmth wash over him.
“I don’t hate the cold,” he murmured, his voice trailing off.
“But I think my body does now. It’s… weird.” Before he could elaborate, exhaustion overtook him, and he drifted into sleep.
How does he do that? he wondered, a faint smirk crossing his face. Du Cheng shook his head, marveling at how quickly Shen Yi could fall asleep.
When they arrived at Shen Yi’s place, Du Cheng gently nudged him awake. “We’re here,” he said.
Shen Yi blinked groggily, then thanked Du Cheng and practically bolted into the house.
Once inside, he locked the door behind him and sighed, only to realize the house was freezing.
‘Oh…I forgot to leave the heaters on’, he remembered helplessly, his breath visible in the icy air.
He made his way to the heater, but before he could turn it on, a sudden, stabbing pain shot through his body. It was as if needles were piercing every muscle, and a searing ache gripped his joints.
His knees buckled going weak, almost hitting the floor and he grabbed onto the nearest chair for support. The pain radiated from his shoulders down to his back and legs, each movement amplifying the agony.
He slid down to avoid falling, clutching at his joints, shuddering as the haziness returned.
If someone asked where it hurt, he would have said everywhere around a 7 on a pain scale.
What is wrong with me? Shen Yi thought, gritting his teeth, grunting as the pain made his head throb.
A wave of dizziness followed, his vision blurring at the edges. His chest tightened, each breath shallow and labored.
After what felt like an eternity, the pain dulled slightly, enough for him to move again.
He stumbled to the kitchen, grabbed a bottle of painkillers, and swallowed a couple with shaking hands.
Wrapping himself in every blanket he could find, he collapsed onto the bed, his body trembling as it desperately sought warmth.
I’ll deal with this tomorrow, he thought, his mind too foggy to worry further. Sleep came quickly, though it was far from restful.
In the morning, Shen Yi woke up to Du Cheng’s voice blaring through his phone alarm.
His head felt somewhat clearer, but his body still ached, muscles stiff and a faint fuzziness lingered in his mind.
With a groan, he forced himself out of bed, grabbed some breakfast, and downed more painkillers.
He wrapped himself in warm clothes, pulling on layers to ward off the persistent chill.
When he stepped outside, Du Cheng was already waiting in the car.
Shen Yi climbed in slowly, grunting as the pain flared up, earning a sharp glance from Du Cheng.
“Are you okay?” Du Cheng asked, his tone edged with concern.
“I'm okay,” Shen Yi replied, hoping his strained voice wouldn't betray him.
Shen Yi reached for the heater and turned it up to the max, leaning into the warm air.
Du Cheng gave him a sidelong glance. “You’re not coming down with a fever, are you?”
“No, I don’t think so. Just some body aches and… I don’t know, I’m feeling a bit off,” Shen Yi admitted honestly, rubbing his temples.
“Do you want to grab some meds?”
“No, thank you Du Cheng. I already had some. Should be fine soon.” Shen Yi reassured, responding to Du Cheng.
They arrived at the crime scene, stepping out into the damp, cold air.
Shen Yi shivered as the chill cut through his layers, wrapping his arms around himself as they walked. The scene itself was eerily quiet, the dampness amplifying the tension in the air.
He needed to find a connection to the killer. Something, anything that could make the search fast.
Shen Yi tried to immerse himself in the scene, piecing together the sequence of events.
He walked slowly, his sharp mind usually adept at imagining how the murder had unfolded. But today, his thoughts felt fragmented, like a puzzle with missing pieces.
He found himself staring blankly, unable to concentrate.
‘Come on Shen Yi…try to get something,’ he thought, frustration bubbling inside him.
He hissed softly, trying to shake the haze, but his body refused to cooperate. The ache in his muscles worsened with every step, spreading like wildfire and he was definitely not feeling well enough to continue.
He decided to take a break and headed toward Du Cheng, but before he could reach him, a searing pain ripped through his body.
It was as if every muscle and joint had been lit on fire.
Shen Yi clutched his arms tightly around himself, his breaths coming in shallow gasps. The pain felt like a tidal wave crashing over him—sharp, stabbing aches rippling through every muscle, every joint.
His skin felt as if it were on fire, even the faintest brush of fabric against his body sending jolts of electricity coursing through him.
He could barely speak through the haze of agony, mouth opening in a silent scream.
His muscles felt like they were being pulled apart and stitched back together all at once, each movement causing fresh waves of agony. His head started pounding again relentlessly, a deep, throbbing ache radiating from the base of his skull.
It was as though his entire body had betrayed him, every nerve screaming for relief. Even his fingers, curled weakly at his sides, felt like they were being crushed under invisible weights.
Slowly he felt his chest tightened, and it became a battle just to draw breath.
Somehow, he managed to let out a choked cry, his legs giving out beneath him.
Du Cheng’s head snapped up, just to see Shen Yi collapsing to the ground. Alarms started ringing in his head.
“Shen Yi!” He sprinted over, kneeling beside him. “What’s wrong?”
“I… I don’t know. It hurts. It… it hurts everywhere,” he forced out between ragged breaths, his voice barely audible.
Du Cheng’s grip was steady, anchoring him, though Shen Yi was barely aware of anything beyond the pain.
His body quaked with effort as he tried to stand, the dull ache in his legs giving way to sharp, needle-like pains that shot up to his hips and spine.
His knees buckled beneath him again, his vision tunneling as he swayed in Du Cheng’s arms. He kept gasping short breaths, his teeth chattering as the stabbing, burning sensations spread deeper into his muscles, his whole body trembling as he clung desperately to consciousness.
Du Cheng looked around, his mind racing. He gently helped Shen Yi to walk, supporting him as he practically carried him back to the car.
Shen Yi managed to mutter, “Too…cold…Ahh…Hurts…Hngh…”
Du Cheng nodded, understanding immediately.
Once inside the car, he turned the heater to its highest setting, then grabbed the coat he bought for his sister from the back seat and draped it over Shen Yi.
Then he took off his jacket and wrapped it around Shen Yi’s legs.
Shen Yi leaned back, his head digging against the seat, short breaths escaping his mouth.
The heat seeped into his body, dulling the pain slightly.
“I’m going to take you to the hospital okay?” Du Cheng half-stated, hand reaching for the door handle to get out and get to the driving seat.
Shen Yi opened his eyes, his voice barely audible. “I already booked a doctor’s appointment…”
“Which doctor? Which hospital?” Du Cheng asked, stopping midway.
Shen Yi frowned, trying to recall. “I don’t remember… my phone…” He patted his pockets realizing it wasn't there. ‘He is confused and forgetful as well, this is not a good sign,’ Du Cheng thought.
Since he already booked a check-up, he might have given more information to that doctor, information he doesn’t have to understand what the hell is happening with him now.
“Your phone might have fallen at the scene. I’ll get it,” Du Cheng said firmly, stepping out of the car.
Shen Yi shifted slowly to the front seat, settling closer to the heater.
He leaned his head against the window, his gaze unfocused and saw Du Cheng running to the crime scene. The pain lingered, making every breath feel heavy.
Just as he thought he could close his eyes, through the side mirror, he saw a man approaching the car.
The figure wore a hoodie, his face partially covered, but Shen Yi remembered the sketch he drew and his instincts kicked in immediately.
That’s the killer.
Ofcourse, he was bold enough to hide around a crime scene.
His pulse quickened as he watched the man walk past the car, grabbing a knife out of nowhere, heading directly toward where Du Cheng was.
Panic surged through him.
'How can I warn him without alerting the killer?'
He can’t.
He leaned forward, his body protesting the movement with a sharp burst of pain. Gritting his teeth, he slammed his hand against the horn, the loud noise echoing across the empty scene.
Two things happened.
Du Cheng turned, spotting the man instantly. The killer turned, spotting Shen Yi instantly. For a moment, time seemed to stand still.
Pain was clouding Shen Yi’s mind and he just hoped Du Cheng would manage to shoot the killer and catch him before he escaped. He curled in the seat as the stabbing pain ran through his body dragging him to unconsciousness.
The killer turned on his heel and bolted as Du Cheng drew his gun and fired at him, aiming for the arm he held onto the knife. It hit the knife instead of the arm and went clattering off.
A normal killer was supposed to run for his life to escape but this man only had one thought in his mind. To kill as many people as possible before he goes to jail.
To experience the thrill of controlling the life of a living person one last time.
Forgetting the knife, he reached the car in two steps, yanked the door open, and pulled Shen Yi out, his hand wrapping around Shen Yi’s neck in a deadly grip using him as a shield hunching behind him.
Du Cheng stopped in his way, gun aimed at him, furiously trying to get a clear aim.
Shen Yi clawed at his hands, gasping for air. The edges of his vision blurred, his body screaming in protest.
Du Cheng can’t shoot him because I’m on the way, he thought, struggling with every ounce of strength he had left.
“Let him go,” Du Cheng ordered, his voice cold and dripping with rage.
Shen Yi had to make some space between him and the killer. He side eyed to his right side then looked straight at Du Cheng. Then he shifted his body away from the killer from the right side as much as he could, hoping he would get a clear aim.
And he did. Understanding Shen Yi’s glance, Du Cheng pulled the trigger instantly, bullet piercing the right side of the killer.
The killer let go of Shen Yi, cursing as he clutched onto the gunshot wound.
Shen Yi collapsed to the ground, coughing and gasping for air, Du Cheng closed the distance, pinning the killer to the ground and cuffing him, giving a full forced blow to his head knocking him out.
Du Cheng knelt beside Shen Yi, his usually stoic face etched with worry. “Shen Yi, look at me. How are you feeling?”
Shen Yi nodded weakly, his voice hoarse. “I’m okay… just need a minute.”
That was a lie.
As soon as those words left his mouth his eyes rolled back and went completely unconscious. Panic surged through Du Cheng. He crouched beside him, pressing two fingers against Shen Yi’s neck to check his pulse.
It was there, but faint and uneven, and his breathing was shallow.
At least he still has a pulse, Du Cheng thought grimly, his heart hammering in his chest.
He stood, scanning the scene quickly. The killer lay cuffed and bleeding a few meters away. Du Cheng moved fast, hauling the man to the car and shoving him into the backseat.
He double-checked the restraints before returning to Shen Yi.
Carefully, he picked him up, surprised at how light and fragile he felt.
Shen Yi’s head lolled against his shoulder as Du Cheng carried him, and then he settled him into the passenger seat, tightening the seat belt securely.
Du Cheng muttered under his breath as he climbed into the driver’s seat. “You don’t get to die on my watch.”
He drove with one hand on the wheel and the other dialing his backup team. Jiang Feng’s voice answered after a single ring. “Cheng Dui?”
“Get to the hospital nearest to the crime scene with backup and send me the location,” Du Cheng commanded. “I’ve got the killer cuffed in my car, a gunshot wound to his side, but Shen Yi needs immediate medical attention.”
“Got it. We’re on our way,” Jiang Feng replied without hesitation.
Du Cheng’s knuckles whitened as he gripped the steering wheel, his eyes flicking between the road and Shen Yi’s pale, slack face.
“You’re not allowed to die, you hear me?” he muttered, the words spilling out before he could stop them. He was so frustrated how unpredicted and out of control the whole incident was.
The hospital came into view, and he honked the horn aggressively as he pulled up to the emergency entrance. Jiang Feng and two officers were already waiting, his expressions shifting from confusion to worry as they saw Shen Yi.
Du Cheng jumped out, motioning toward the car.
“Take the killer,” Du Cheng ordered curtly. “He’s cuffed. Secure him and report back.”
Jiang Feng nodded. “And Shen Yi?”
“I’ve got him,” Du Cheng replied, already lifting Shen Yi out of the seat with gentleness.
Inside, nurses swarmed around him as he laid Shen Yi on a gurney.
A doctor approached quickly, her calm demeanor reassuring despite the chaos. “What happened?” she asked, her sharp eyes taking in Shen Yi’s condition.
Oh yeah, the plan was to find Shen Yi’s phone to contact the doctor he already booked. Well that already went down the drain.
So Du Cheng explained everything he could remember: the flare-up, Shen Yi’s earlier complaints of pain, his collapse, how the cold seemed to have worsened his condition and finally getting choked.
The doctor nodded briskly.
“Thank you for the information. Please wait here.” she said, her tone professional and kind.
The medical team wheeled Shen Yi away, leaving Du Cheng standing alone in the waiting area, his hands clenched into fists.
Before he forgets, he calls another member to go to the crime scene and collect Shen Yi’s phone.
Jiang Feng joined him after securing the killer, observing how worried Du Cheng looked.
“Are you okay?” Jiang Feng asked quietly.
Du Cheng exhaled sharply, his jaw tight. “I should’ve noticed. He hasn't been himself since yesterday. He was pale, in pain… I should’ve stopped him.”
“You can’t blame yourself for the things you could not have known or for the things you can’t control. You were the one who told us this Cheng Dui. Don’t worry. Shen Yi laoshi will be okay,” Jiang Feng said, offering as much comfort as he can.
Du Cheng didn’t respond. Instead, he stared at the doors Shen Yi had disappeared through.
The doctor returned hours later. Du Cheng and Jiang Feng both stood immediately.
“He’s stable,” she began. “Your friend was experiencing a severe fibromyalgia flare-up, likely triggered by the cold and damp weather combined with stress.
The pain was overwhelming his nervous system, and the lack of oxygen caused his collapse. We’ve administered medications to manage the pain and inflammation, and we’re keeping him warm to ease his symptoms. He’ll need a few days of rest and continued treatment, but he’ll make a complete recovery.”
Du Cheng let out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding. “Can I see him?”
The doctor nodded. “He’s still weak and asleep, but yes, you can.”
Inside the hospital room, Shen Yi lay under several blankets, his face pale but peaceful.
Du Cheng pulled up a chair beside the bed and sat down heavily. He watched Shen Yi’s slow, even breathing.
He never thought the sight of the rise and fall of his chest would be this reassuring.
Shen Yi stirred sometime later, his eyes fluttering open. His gaze landed on Du Cheng, who was still sitting by the bed, his frown disappearing as he registered Shen Yi waking up.
“You really know how to give your partner a heart attack,” Du Cheng said, his tone half-joking, half-scolding.
Shen Yi gave him a faint smile, his voice hoarse. “One... of many talents…I…guess.”
Du Cheng leaned forward, fixing him with a stern look. “Next time, stick to getting kidnapped. I can track you down, find the criminal, punch them, shoot them, and save you—hell, I’m an expert at that. But don’t get sick...not like this. I’m a police officer, not a doctor.”
He left out the part of how scared and helpless he felt when he saw him in pain and had no idea what to do.
Shen Yi chuckled weakly, the sound barely audible. “Noted. I’ll try my best.”
Du Cheng rolled his eyes but didn’t move from his spot.
Shen Yi’s smile softened. “Thank you for saving me today. And honestly, it really was an amazing shot.” He added hoping to lighten the mood.
“Of course it was,” Du Cheng said triumphantly, settling back into his chair as Shen Yi drifted off again.

Just a cold - Another quote by Shen Yi
Shen Yi knew the day was going to be rough as soon as he woke up. His head throbbed, his throat felt scratchy, and his body ached all over. Yesterday’s work—chasing leads in the drizzle—had done its job. He fumbled for the medicine cabinet, downed a couple of cold pills, and pulled on his coat. Despite the pounding in his head, there was no time to rest. They had cases to solve, and he couldn’t afford to fall behind.
"Just a cold," Shen Yi muttered to himself as he grabbed his bag. He took the cab instead of riding the bike.
When he arrived at the station, Li Han was already waiting with a folder of witness statements.
"Morning, Shen Yi Laoshi," she greeted him, her eyes narrowing slightly. "You don’t look so good."
"Uh…Just a cold. Already took medicine," Shen Yi replied, brushing off her concern. He took the file and started organizing his materials. His movements were noticeably slower than usual. He had three suspect sketches to finish—one based on the hazy evidence they’d collected the previous night. One from Li Han and the other one from an urgent case of a nearby precinct.
Meanwhile, Du Cheng was busy interrogating suspects and questioning witnesses. Li Han had already informed him that Shen Yi is not feeling well. So he glanced over at Shen Yi occasionally, his brow furrowing deeper each time he noticed how pale Shen Yi looked.
By mid-morning, Shen Yi’s cold had worsened. He coughed into his sleeve, his breath hitching slightly as he tried to stifle it. His hand trembled faintly as he adjusted his sketchpad. Du Cheng noticed how he paused more often to rub his temples or press a hand to his forehead.
But his hands were tied as well. He could not let Shen Yi take a leave considering the severity of the cases they had to finalize. Well, if he can’t let him leave, he has to take care of him.
As the hours dragged on, Shen Yi’s condition became harder to ignore. His sneezes echoed through the otherwise quiet office, and he shivered visibly despite the warmth of the room. His normally steady lines on the sketchpad wavered, and he had to erase and redraw more frequently than usual.
Du Cheng knew Shen Yi would let himself collapse before he took a breather. Finally, during a brief break, he approached him.
"Shen Yi," Du Cheng said, crossing his arms as he stood by the desk. "You look like you’re about to keel over. Take a few minutes off."
Shen Yi didn’t look up. "It’s fine," he said, his voice hoarse. "We need this sketch. The sooner it’s done, the sooner we can catch him."
Du Cheng sighed as his eyes narrowed. "You can barely hold the pencil steady. When was the last time you ate something?"
Shen Yi hesitated, then mumbled, "Breakfast."
"Yeah? And what did you have?" Du Cheng pressed, his tone skeptical.
Shen Yi sighed, his exhaustion making it harder to mask his frustration. "Look, I’ll eat later, okay? I have to finish this first."
Du Cheng frowned. "Fine. Just don’t blame me if you pass out."
He left immediately and asked Li Han not to give the rest of the statements Shen Yi and ordered her to try and find some additional footage to find the suspect.
By evening, Shen Yi’s exhaustion was painfully evident. His head drooped over the desk, and he blinked furiously to keep his eyes open. The pencil in his hand slipped occasionally, and he had to grip it tighter to regain control. His breathing had grown heavier, his chest rising and falling with more effort.
Du Cheng, who had just returned from speaking with another witness, came to check on Shen Yi. The younger man’s face was ghostly pale, his lips slightly parted as he struggled to catch his breath. For a moment, Du Cheng just watched him, his jaw tightening.
"Shen Yi," Du Cheng said sharply, walking over. "Stop. That’s enough."
Shen Yi shook his head weakly, his voice barely audible. "I’m close to finishing it."
"You’re close to collapsing," Du Cheng retorted, pulling the pencil out of Shen Yi’s hand. "How do you know this is accurate when you’re too sick to think straight?"
Shen Yi tried to protest, but his words were slurred. "I can’t let another... life be taken."
Du Cheng sighed heavily. He walked out of the room and returned minutes later with a cup of tea, a packet of biscuits, and cold medicine. "Here," he said, placing them on the desk. "Take a break. Eat something."
Shen Yi stared at the items, his tired eyes widening slightly. "I don’t—"
"Just shut up and eat," Du Cheng interrupted, his tone gruff. "I don’t want to hear excuses."
Shen Yi pouted a little before grabbing on to the tea slumping on the chair, relaxed. ‘The pout is new. He must be feeling super off.’ Du Cheng thinks.
Du Cheng was right. When he looked at the sketch after the break, he noticed that he had missed some details. By 11 PM, Shen Yi finally finished the sketch. As he stood to hand it to Du Cheng, his legs wobbled, and his vision blurred. He swayed, then stumbled forward. Du Cheng reacted instantly, catching him as his knees buckled.
"Shen Yi!" Du Cheng exclaimed, his voice tinged with panic. He pressed a hand to Shen Yi’s forehead and grimaced. "You’re burning up. Damn it, I knew this would happen."
Shen Yi mumbled something incoherent, his eyes half-lidded as he struggled to stay conscious. "My legs fell asleep…s nothing..."
"It’s not nothing," Du Cheng snapped. He eased Shen Yi into a chair, then grabbed the sketch. "Stay here. I’ll handle this and get you to a doctor."
Du Cheng handed the sketch to Jiang Feng, giving firm instructions to run a match immediately. When he returned, Shen Yi was slumped over the desk, his head resting on his arms. His breathing was shallow, and beads of sweat glistened on his forehead.
"Come on," Du Cheng muttered, lifting Shen Yi to his feet. "We’re going."
“Home?”
“Hospital!”
Du Cheng drove Shen Yi to the nearest hospital. The doctor confirmed a high fever and prescribed rest, some meds, fluids, and assured that there’s nothing to worry about. Du Cheng thanked him curtly and helped Shen Yi back into the car.
At Shen Yi’s apartment, Du Cheng guided him inside, practically carrying him to the couch. "Sit here," Du Cheng said firmly, his tone leaving no room for argument. Shen Yi’s body felt unnaturally light, and his head lolled to the side as Du Cheng eased him down.
Du Cheng frowned, crouching to study Shen Yi’s pale face more closely. He touched his forehead, "Still burning up," he muttered under his breath. Without wasting time, he went into the kitchen, rummaging for a clean bowl to fill with cold water and grabbing a soft cloth. Returning quickly, he knelt beside Shen Yi and began dabbing his forehead and neck gently.
Shen Yi stirred slightly, his lips parting in a faint murmur. "Stop…fussing…too cold," he whined, his voice so weak it was barely audible.
"Who’s fussing?" Du Cheng shot back, his hands never stopping. "You’re the one who decided to play the hero while running a fever."
Shen Yi’s lashes fluttered briefly, but he didn’t argue further. His head tilted slightly into the touch of the cool cloth, a barely perceptible sign of relief washing over his strained features. Du Cheng noticed this and softened his movements further, muttering, "See? Not so bad."
He fetched a blanket and tucked it around Shen Yi, making sure he was warm but not stifled. Then, he prepared a glass of water and gently tilted it against Shen Yi’s lips. "Drink," he urged. "Small sips."
Shen Yi obeyed, though his hands trembled slightly when he tried to hold the glass. Du Cheng steadied him without a word, his brow furrowing as he watched Shen Yi’s delicacy up close. "Why do you always push yourself like this?" Du Cheng muttered, almost to himself. "You’re allergic to asking for help."
That was a statement. Shen Yi gave a faint smile, his voice rasping out, "Teamwork, right?"
Du Cheng huffed, half amused and half exasperated. “Teamwork works when one of us isn’t half-dead."
Over the next couple of hours, Du Cheng stayed close, rewetting the cloth and ensuring Shen Yi stayed hydrated. He even coaxed a few spoons of porridge into him when he stirred again. Shen Yi’s fever gradually began to drop, and the tension in his features eased, though he remained deeply fatigued.
Du Cheng fetched the damp towel, gently wiping Shen Yi’s face and arms for the last time. He then adjusted the blanket around him. Shen Yi stirred slightly, his lips parting in a faint murmur.
"Du Cheng... don’t fuss," Shen Yi whispered, his voice barely audible.
"Who’s fussing?" Du Cheng muttered again, his hands never stopping.
When Shen Yi finally drifted into a deeper sleep, his breathing was steady, Du Cheng leaned back in relief. He ran a hand through his hair and let himself fall asleep on the couch next to Shen Yi’s bed.
Du Cheng woke to Xiao Xuan’s soft meowing. The cat had climbed onto his chest, pawing at him insistently. Groaning, Du Cheng sat up and checked on Shen Yi. The fever had finally broken, and his breathing was even.
"Shen Yi," Du Cheng called softly, placing a hand on his shoulder and shaking him gently. The younger man stirred, his brows knitting together before his eyes fluttered open, still glassy with exhaustion. For a moment, Shen Yi’s gaze was unfocused, and his lips parted as if to say something, but all that came out was a faint mumble.
"You awake?" Du Cheng asked, crouching to meet his eye level.
Shen Yi sat up, blinked a few times, his expression adorably dazed before rubbing his eyes from his paws palms. "You stayed? What time is it...?" he rasped, his voice scratchy from sleep.
"Morning," Du Cheng replied with a faint smirk. "Don’t push yourself. Fever’s down, but you look like a ragdoll that’s been through the wringer."
Shen Yi gave a weak huff, somewhere between a laugh and a sigh. "I don’t... look like a ragdoll."
Du Cheng raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. "Oh, no?" he teased, ruffling Shen Yi’s messy hair even messier to make a point, "Take a look in the mirror."
Shen Yi tried to bat Du Cheng’s hand away but missed, his movements sluggish.
Du Cheng wasn’t sure why he did that. He gained his grumpy cop personality back on. "Alright, sit tight. I’ll get you food. Don’t try anything stupid while I’m gone."
As Du Cheng walked off, Shen Yi leaned back against the cushions, a small smile tugging at his lips.
Writing a whump fic because there wasn't enough whump on Under the skin 2 ep 20
The moment Gu Yitian was restrained and the girl confirmed safe, Shen Yi felt the tension in his body unravel, leaving him trembling in its wake. His heart pounded in his chest, each beat sending a sharp ache radiating through his ribs. He stayed still, forcing himself to focus on seeing Du Cheng securing the handcuffs on Gu Yitian.
“You look like hell,” Du Cheng muttered, noticing Shen Yi’s shuddering form.
Shen Yi gave a faint nod, swallowing hard against the dryness in his throat. “I’ll be fine,” he lied, his voice rasping like sandpaper. His knees threatened to buckle beneath him, but he locked them in place.
The air felt too thin, his lungs struggling to pull in enough oxygen as a faint ringing built in his ears. He blinked several times to clear his vision, only for the world to blur further.
“Let’s head back,” Du Cheng said, gripping Shen Yi’s arm lightly.
Shen Yi forced himself to straighten. Each step back to the car felt heavier than the last, his legs dragging like they were weighed down with lead. The seatbelt pressed uncomfortably against his chest on the ride back to the station.
Back at the station, Shen Yi made a beeline for the restroom. Once inside, he wiped away the makeup and leaned heavily against the sink, gripping the edge so tightly his knuckles turned white. His reflection in the mirror startled him—his skin was ghostly pale, his eyes bloodshot and sunken, and a faint sheen of sweat clung to his forehead.
He splashed cold water on his face, hoping the shock would snap him out of the fog clouding his mind.
Somehow, he made it to his desk, his movements slow and deliberate. He didn’t trust his legs to carry him much farther, and his head throbbed relentlessly. He set to work, flipping through his notes with trembling fingers.
“Shen Yi,” Du Cheng’s voice startled him, and he looked up to see his partner’s sharp eyes scanning his face. “ We’ll go over the brief together and I'll take you home to rest. You look like you're about to keel over and die.”
Shen Yi nodded, following Du Cheng into the briefing room. He told himself he could push through just a little longer.
The fluorescent lights felt harsher than ever, piercing through Shen Yi’s skull as he sat across from Du Cheng. The papers in front of him blurred, the words swimming before his eyes. His chest tightened, a deep, crushing pressure spreading like a vice.
He tried to ignore it, focusing instead on Du Cheng’s voice as they discussed the presentation. But his breathing grew faster and shallower, each inhale feeling like he was dragging air through a straw. His hands shook as he reached for a pen, but his fingers refused to grip it properly.
“Shen Yi? I think you should sit down.” Du Cheng asked, his tone shifting to one of concern.
"Huh... sit down?" He realizes that he is standing up and shaking on his legs like a bambi.
Shen Yi doesn't remember standing up. He opened his mouth to respond, but his words caught in his throat. A wave of dizziness hit him like a tidal wave, and he grabbed the edge of the table for support. His vision darkened at the edges, the world tilting violently.
“Shen Yi!”
Du Cheng’s shout was the last thing he heard before his legs gave out completely. The sensation of falling was brief but terrifying, his body collapsing like a puppet with its strings cut. Du Cheng sees how Shen Yi's eyes roll back, neck and body going completely limp as he runs to catch him. Shen Yi barely registered the impact of the floor against his side, the pain drowned out by the roaring in his ears.
When Shen Yi woke, it was to a cacophony of noise—voices shouting orders, the blare of sirens, the sharp beeping of medical equipment. His chest felt like it was on fire, each breath a monumental effort. The weight of an oxygen mask pressed against his face, but it wasn’t enough.
“Du Cheng…” he gasped, his voice weak and desperate.
“He’s right here,” a medic assured him. “Focus on breathing.”
He tried to turn his head, to see for himself, but the effort made the edges of his vision darken further. His limbs felt like lead, too heavy to move.
The next thing he knew, he was in a hospital bed. The beeping of the heart monitor was steady, but every muscle in his body screamed in protest as he tried to shift. His whole body ached with a deep, bone-deep soreness, and his head throbbed like a drumbeat.
“Finally awake?”
The familiar gruffness of Du Cheng’s voice drew his attention. Shen Yi turned his head slowly to see his partner sitting beside him, arms crossed and an expression that was equal parts anger and worry.
“What… happened?” Shen Yi croaked, his throat dry and scratchy.
“What happened?” Du Cheng snapped, standing abruptly. “You overworked yourself to the point of collapse, that’s what! You scared the hell out of everyone, Shen Yi. Do you ever stop to think about the damage you’re doing to yourself?”
Shen Yi tried to reply, but his chest tightened painfully, cutting off his words.
“Don’t even try to argue,” Du Cheng continued, his voice cracking slightly. “You almost didn’t make it. The doctors said your heart was under too much strain, and you were severely exhausted. What were you thinking?”
Shen Yi’s lips moved, but the effort to speak made his vision blur again. His breathing grew erratic, and the heart monitor’s beeping sped up alarmingly.
“Shen Yi? Sh## Sh##... Damn it, stay with me!” Du Cheng’s voice rose in panic as Shen Yi’s consciousness slipped away once more.
When Shen Yi woke again, the world felt quieter. The oxygen mask was gone, replaced by a nasal cannula. Du Cheng was still by his side, his head resting in his hands as he sat slumped in a chair.
“Du Cheng…” Shen Yi whispered, his voice barely audible.
Du Cheng jolted awake, his eyes narrowing as he leaned closer. “If you ever pull something like that again, I’ll kill you myself,” he muttered, his tone rough but his eyes glistening.
Shen Yi managed a weak smile, “I understand" and drifted off.

A Guide to Some of the Best Queer Asian Shows
The guide includes a show’s basic summary; main genres/tropes/themes and official streaming links (additional info on how to watch at the end of this post)! You can find some content warnings in the reply section of this post. Shows are listed by countries, numbered by the order I recommend watching in, not by rating. All shows have happy endings unless specified otherwise. The list will hopefully be updated regularly (last updated on 04/04/2024, 98 queer shows in total).
Most shows are about mlm, I specify with coloured notes those that are focused on wlw, polyamory, aromantism/asexuality, etc.
Tumblr does not allow large texts or more than 30 images per post at the moment, so you can click on every country’s list to expand them and view them fully in a separate post. You can access this guide in a google doc here.
