shoutout today to Cynthia, the celebrity mannequin. she spent the ‘30s being taken to high society parties and eventually became so popular she got her own fashion column, a cameo in a Jack Benny movie (where he mistakes it for a real girl), and a LIFE magazine profile in which her sculptor (a gay man who turned out to be using her as an elaborate beard) hires her as an escort, wines and dines it, and finally returns to their hotel room and disassembles her.
